Hey everyone, welcome back to my channel! Today we’ll be exploring an abandoned developmental center that provided long term stay to both children and elderly patients. Some of these patients were admitted to the developmental center due to being diagnosed with severe mental illness or disabilities that required around the clock care and medical observation. Following financial turmoil the developmental center finally closed its doors and transferred all patients to other facilities. Join my boyfriend Sonny and I as we make our way through this developmental center!

In Canada where I live, we have to make sure that all meds and patent records are either destroyed or sent to the medical manufacturer so they can dispose of them correctly. There are heavy fine levied for non compliance

Canada actually cares about the people. We’re all just money bags to the government here in the US. 😅

considering record keeping wasnt even good or reliable until somewhat recent decades, i don’t think they were worried about destroying them until recently either 🤷‍♀️ but obviously it makes sense to destroy them

the wheelchair that was like standing up, that you saw is actually to make people stand up. Im working with paralyzed people and they are often in pain because they can't use their muscles. If you strap them up in this kind of chair they can put weight on their feet and it also helps for the back pain to put weight on it. If you laying in bed al day you easy get pain get tired in the body. So for a person that's always is laying still its important to change positions so they don't get bedsore or so much pain.

Hi I just found this video, I have a special needs daughter and this is so cool. The stander helps a bed bound child or person be in a more up right position, the beds that look like giant cribs or but zipper one are sleep safe beds probably for children’s with epilepsy that may have seizures or have no control of their movements to prevent them from falling out of bed and getting hurt. :)

The contraption used to stand patients up can be very important for many reasons, rather than just a w/c. It helps regulate blood pressure, if a child had say hip surgery, it can help build up strength and muscle, stopping movement so they don’t injury or twist. It can help a child learn to reach toys and such that can be limited in a w/c. The hope would be that muscles can be built up, especially core muscles in the stomach, like with cerebral palsy, when kids sit in w/c they never build there stomach muscles, then they will never walk, by getting them into a standing position helps many functions get built, but it does take years and years.

The wheelchairs always get me. They either grew out of them or are no longer in need of them. Sad really. All those custom medical devices were made for a specific person for a specific reason.

19:40 mark , that's just a board to help patients stand without assistance. So they feel more independent and like others, not sure how well it works since it's not really used very often.

It's considered physical therapy to have them standing as well, most patients never get out of their chair so to have them be standing for anything is called range of motion therapy.

19:49 its a stander. From what I have seen in the learning assistance classroom I'm in its used for cerebal palsy, or people who have really bad paralysis of the legs so they can be stimulated. Nowadays there are better models

I frequently receive medication and fluids intravenously, the sterile fluid bag handing on the door was most likely something that medication was going to be added to (via syringe) before it was hooked up to an IV pole and went into somebody’s body. I just know this because my home nurse gets my meds ready like this. She mixes saline water with my medication and puts it into a bag full of sterile fluid :3 i love how calming your voice is

They actually still like that same pump for feeding tubes. There are smaller units you can get but some insurance is so cheap you get that big dinosaur. Those wheelchairs are custom-made as well as the standers. Like made for the person and they take months to make and cost thousands. People Who predominately spend their time sitting or laying in bed need to stand for bone health and digestive health so that’s the point of those standers. The one you found is much older and much more primitive.

19:40 is a stander It helps children be weight bearing which helps strengthen their bones and also it helps change their positioning so that they don’t develop pressure sores and such from sitting ALL the time

They'd only use those for patients that are out of control so they can't hurt yourself or they can't hurt anyone else.

Those back braces are actually custom-made so it’s insulting that they got left behind and separated from their owners. I would also recommend blurring the faces of the people in the photographs because they cannot consent to you using the photograph and have a right to privacy.

Why would they leave wheelchairs and all the other gear there? Like those could have been donated to other working organizations, like special education centers and stuff, like don't let this go to waste! I would honestly put these in the back of a truck, and take them to special education centers to people who actually need them. ❤❤❤
