Today we’re exploring the super trendy Barranco neighbourhood in Lima, Peru. I will also be eating at one of THE BEST restaurants in Latin America as per Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants list www.theworlds50best.com/latin...
Set in a historic house in Barranco, Isolina has become one of Lima’s most popular restaurants since opening its doors. The classic home-style Criolla (Creole) food inspired by the owner’s mother’s recipes is what keeps everyone coming back.
This place serves proper comfort food but done to the highest of standards. I thought it would be a great first restaurant to share so you get an idea of how us locals actually eat at home. The flavours are rich & intense and really make a statement. I can’t recommend it enough. You shouldn’t leave Lima without trying it!

I have never visited this restaurant while in Lima but now I know I must! The food looks unbelievable and the way you describe everything is wonderful. The passion you've got is palpable and I am sure you will go very far Andy. You are the BEST PERUVIAN AMBASSADOR!!

This is another great video visiting an iconic quarter in Lima and choosing a restaurant that evokes traditional Peruvian food from before it became so popular around the world. All the dishes that you so eloquently described would have never been found in the menu of a restaurant in Peru 10 years ago, yet they were what we Peruvians eat at home. It is what we call comfort food. Andy, keep the good work......and by the way, that was a beautiful neckless.

If most people don't already know Peruvians are huge foodies and we have such a wide variety of dishes in the different regions(coast, mountains and jungle). I don't think it is possible for outsiders to grasp the sheer quantity of restaurant choices in Lima, including the fact that you don't necessarily have to spend big dollars to get really good food. I'll give an example from early in 2023. On my last day there 6 of us went out to eat at Jose Antonio, a top historic restaurant in San Isidro. The bill which included some drinks was $100.

Mis respetos al restaurante "Isolina" por preparar el Lomo Saltado clásico y original... 👍 El que no lo pueda hacer que aprenda la técnica del manejo de la papa... la idea es que el comenzal se coma todas las papas y que no las deje en el plato... 😋👍
