Cornish Walking Trails

4 жыл бұрын

Featuring spectacular cliff-edge mine workings, arsenic labyrinths and a coastal walk towards Cape Cornwall, todays walk is packed full of history and panoramic views. We come a little unstuck leaving the Kenidjack Valley ...
Peppered with a flavour of what it is like in Cornwall at the moment (filmed on 22nd May 2020) and a little update with any changes we have noticed. Find out if we like Cornwall to ourselves!
We are both Cornish and since making videos for our channel, we have discovered that simply 'being Cornish' does not mean that you are able to correctly pronounce every place name or street name in Cornwall, only that you are better equipped than most to have a good stab at it. We apologise for any mispronunciation and would appreciate a little tolerance and no ugly comments.

Finally got to see one of the pups I've been hearing about - what a sweetheart! Breathtaking vistas! Luv the history, both real & reimagined. Sea & sun, sky & stone, blossom-covered cliffsides - thx so much for this one. Still stuck inside for the most part, as many of us are - what a much-needed lift to the spirit is nature's bounty! On other hand, had similar situation here awhile back, when parks & their services shut down but the people did not. Plus, following extended shut-downs elsewhere, certain scenic routes reopened, immediately becoming clogged w/bumper-to-bumper carloads of folk in search of outdoor adventure instead spending hrs, 'midst lovely landscapes, choking on each others' exhaust. Methinks I'll tag along w/u instead.

Pleased to see you out of lockdown. And yes arsenic is very poisonous. At Bulls where I was brought up, we used to dip our sheep in an arsenical brew that was really effective on ticks and lice until it was banned because if the health risk. My father missed a sheep with the crutch one day and fell in the pot dip. My brother and I laughed but Dad did not. He never had trouble with fleas though! Great walk. Thank you. Keep safe.

I just so LOVE that doggy of yours....complete with his seagull neckerchief! The image of him staring out at the ocean at 12.38 on the vid is just so evocative of your family walks & the stunning scenery to go with it. Lovely. You know I love a Poldark theme! The last time I was at Botallack was Christmas Day a few years ago. We spent 4 days in Cornwall & went on a hike up there....wild, windy, deserted & an alternative way of spending the holiday period. Sad to see tho that Ross's house from the 70s in decline. Pity Aidan wasn't lurking around one of the mine houses to direct you onto the right path....your trusty compass did the trick in the end! Great walk. J x

Some of my favourite spots on the planet! Lived for 4 years across from the top of the road that follows the stream all the way down the valley. Often sat on the outcrop of rocks opposite the cape on a nice spongey patch of grass with the rock for a backrest. Will be repeating that again ASAP from Spain! Thanks very much for this...and your other vids, which are watched every evening at home now!

It's a wonderful walk we love Botallack Mines with the rough sea and the waves. We did this hike in 2018 because the valley was completely overgrown and we also had to find the way. A beautiful landscape. Thanks for the great video stays healthy.

It was worth staying up late for, I enjoyed watching this. The sea and the beautiful scenery on the cliffs with all the flowers in bloom makes me agree with Andrew that May would be a good time to go to. It was fun to see you both get lost too. I did get a bit dizzy with the circular camera work though, LOL. It was a fun video to watch. I can barley type. Good video, Sarah and Andrew. Have a good week.

Beautiful video and a lot of interesting stories, and the enjoyable conversation (as always). This is one of the breathtaking stretches from our walks last year. We passed here on a very clear day in July, and we could even spot the Isles Of Scilly between Crown Mines and Cape Cornwall. I took some photos with my zoom camera :-) We also have sea thrifts here in Norway. Tomorrow I will take a trip to a nearby island and have a walk there and see some of these pink beauties. The weather forecast finally predicts warm and lovely weather :-) Thank you for showing me this area again :-) Torunn.

Thoroughly enjoyed your video as always - much better than anything on TV at the moment! Know what you mean about the strange atmosphere too. Although it's a novelty to have Cornwall to ourselves (we live in Helston) with everything shut and so few people around (unheard of in May!) it does feel a bit odd and soulless. Fingers crossed things will improve soon. Stay well both of you and keep up the great work. Gary.
