Upon the mountains of coastal British Columbia, it sits numerous icefields. They are a combination of various glaciers that form a vast expanse of ice, which covers the mountains. The area sits in the cascade volcanic arc, so there are volcanos underneath the icefield.
We head to Mount Meager, which is a volcano in the central quadrant of the volcanic belt. An icefield sits atop the mighty peak, and various volcanic forms can be seen around the massif.
The entire region is one of the few places in the world where various subglacial volcanic forms can be seen. A long time ago, the entire Cordillera was covered in ice and experienced volcanic eruptions underneath the ice. These create distinct forms such as tuyas and subglacial mounds.
