The options for exploring the Vic High Country are endless. This 4x4 trip around the Jamieson area delivers so much.
Amazing mountain scenery, fun 4x4 tracks and great camping spots beside Vic High Country mountain streams.
We started this trip out of the tiny town of Jamieson. As the trip climbed in elevation off the main road, we made our way over to a beautiful camp site called Running Creek.
Camp was set up and dinner was cooked in the camp oven, right beside the Howqua River.
The next day the 4wd tracks became a lot more challenging. Steep and rocky inclines with a very steep decent.
[ Proceed with caution if you are starting out in a 4wd, and even more so if the 4x4 tracks are wet. ]
Exploring the Vic High Country in my 4x4 is something that i have done a lot of, and i love what the Vic High Country delivers when you have a 4x4.

I use to do this sort of stuff around Barrington Tops and Gloucester in the NSW Hunter region. Had an old 2A Land-rover LWB with a Falcon motor and auto box. Big Sunraysia Rims and tyres that would tramline like crazy on hotmix. If I slipped into a rut on a track I would just have to run with it. No way of getting out. Memories !!

Tim Bates 4wd Adventures G'Day Tim The fishing was magnificent....the lower sections of the Jamieson and Howqua Rivers have been infested with European Carp in recent times which is unfortunate... Good drive young felah,we did those tracks not long ago,we come from the back of Jamison via School Hill Trk to get to Mitchells, there was one hill that was a bit tricky and some of the crew had to detour along Brosnans Trk to get to Mitchells. Gday mate. Hell man , that's my normal Sunday afternoon drive. Give us some rough stuff. Seriously mate though, a brilliant episode. Just a quick question, what's the brand of your swag?. You might have already mentioned this in a previous episode, but being a newish subber, it's possible I've missed it. Whatever the brand, it'll be interesting to see if we can get here in Nz. Take care and atb for 2021.

Need some advice: bought a 2009 Patrol auto DX done 100k - with zero driver aid. I just want to do what you do Tim when I get time and holiday in the near future and basically travel to some of the destinations outback including the Flinders. The problem is I have NO idea about anything mechanical and I found out just a simple few mods heading to $10-15K! What's more confusing is suspension upgrade- myriads around and the most obvious choice ARB/TJM got horrible reviews online. Fulcrum has a 2inch lift kit wonder if this is all I need and currently it has a cheap set of Chinese AT Ecolander tyres on 16 inch steel wheels which I hope to replace with MT71 Kumho. So what suspension upgrade can I do and is it best to buy tyres later after that? I have to do as a salami tactics coz had to pay $27000 incl on road. I am in Lismore area Northern NSW.
