UPDATE :two things have changed in the released V3.0 candidate:
- PWM RX changes can't be done from LUA for 3.0, it was causing too many issues so for now it has been postponed it.
- Full resolution channels are split into couple of modes: 100Hz and 333Hz for 2.4GHz and only 100Hz for 900 as well as the full resolution channel count got changed from a fixed value to 8, 12 or all 16 channels
Link to the project and where to get the files: github.com/ExpressLRS/ExpressLRS

I don't see a need for ELRS to support SBUS natively now that the Matek CRSF-SBUS converter is around. I just soldered it directly to the pins of my ELRS receiver and now have SBUS. I know its not as nice as it being integrated, but for the price and simplicy, I think it's an acceptable compromise. Thanks for the update video explaining some of the highlights of ELRSv3 in practical terms Lee, and thanks as always to all the ELRS crew for their hard work and extensive "testing" ;)

I have 10 times more fixed wing than quads so had ignored ELRS due only 4 full res channels. This new version is a game changer for me. Given the reasonable cost of modules and receivers, it's undoubtedly something that I will now be giving a go. ELRS is the most exciting radio link to hit the hobby since Crossfire IMHO.

Lee, I've been thinking for years about building a quad similar to the TBS Discovery, but now I'm really close to do that. All I need is to buy some 14 gage silicone wire and soldering stuff. You know? And I'm going to use ELRS for it, that I'm going to flash to my R9 stuff! The NAZA Lite doesn't accept CRSF, so I bought a Matek board that converts it to PWM. (I almost got a CRSF to SBUS board, but I'm going to need PWM ports for other stuff, like a FPV switcher.) Anyway, it's incredible how good ELRS is and how better and better it's getting every time! 😃 Thanks a lot for the interview! Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

The highlight for me is the 8 full resolution channels. I fly fixed wing almost exclusively but have been keeping an eye on ELRS as it looks like it has a lot of potential, especially given the size of some of those receivers. Time to jump I think. 🙂

Would there be an ability to use a 3.0 transmitter with a 2.0 receiver. Mainly because I have a tiny whoop that’s on 2.0 So I guess the question is also how fast would betaflight be able to implement 3.0?

In the fullres modes you can select, 8ch / 12ch / 16ch modes, and the 8/12ch also get the AUX1 channel for free so they're 9/13ch (although it is 2-pos only). 16ch has a full resolution AUX1, but it still must be an "Armed" switch since there is still functionality tied to this (such as Dynamic Power).

Does anyone know how Express LRS compares to Dragonlink ? Does it have the same range ?
@ZeroFPV
@ZeroFPV 2 жыл бұрын
AFAIK is Dragonlink working with 433Mhz. Therefore the Range you can get should be higher than with 900MHz or 2.4GHz. But, the hardware is much bigger(antennas, receivers, etc.). Output is PPM or SBUS, so higher latency, too. EDIT: The range is specified with 50Km with the normal antennas up to 200Km with directional antennas(Dragonlink). I don't know if ELRS was already tested with directional antennas but there are some range tests online. Examples: 40Km @900MHz, 50Hz @10mW power (the typical ELRS transmitters can output up to 1000mW) 35Km @2.4GHz, 250Hz @100mW power (transmitters vary in power but you can get them up too 1000mW power) Limit was the video link and not the control link(ELRS). So we don't know the real possible maximum range of ELRS.

I have no reason to switch, flying r9 for years and it has never failed me once. I don't have to update my firmware because it is mature and has all features I need. as a freestyler i don't need lower latency and higher range... u are not defining what I need to do what I want...

I can appreciate the enthusiasm, as I use ELRS myself, but it's not fair to say people must use it or find another hobby. If their existing solution works fine for them, why change? Some of the systems like Ghost, R9, even Spektrum work just fine. But ELRS is certainly going to get better and better ;)

@@derrogers I had terrible jitter/twitching problems with my R9. That's why I flashed ELRS to my modules and receivers. I never wanted to get back. I'm guessing you are at the Access stuff because FrSky never fixed it in the other R9 versions/firmwares.
