The socks & undies trick blew my mind too! So aesthetically pleasing! : - D It makes me a little nervous about yeast, but I'm sure there are ways to deal with that. I usually just throw all my dirty clothes together in a compression packing cube so it's not like they're in their own pristine universe anyway. Lol

@ARKrystal47

I love that you include "luxury items" -- packing for a solo one month trip in one city in China was WAY DIFFERENT than packing for an international road trip with my parents. And packing for family trips has changed over the years. As we've traveled, we've discovered which creature comforts are most important to us. Everyone in my family and even my & my sister's significant others use Bose noise cancelling headphones. I am the only one who doesn't! BUT I'm the only one who brings a set of pens so I can color in the trip's travel journey during downtime. Luxury items really can make a trip and I'm so so appreciative you're so open about yours! We don't pack as much as we used to when we first started traveling internationally and for extended trips so what we do decide to pack a little extra of is based upon hours and hours of experience and when we've minimized, it was because we upgraded items. Thanks for sharing! :)

I have this bag, in the same color. Great bag. One problem with it though. It's very spacious. 54L. This temps you too pack a lot into it. If you do this, the bag will become very heavy. I realize I'm stating the obvious. But the obvious isn't always obvious, until it's too late. eBags has a "new" bag like the one in the video, but with wheels. It's smaller. 48L. I'm going to make the switch. Rolling is wonderful in long airports. Man created the wheel for a reason. UTILIZE THE WHEEL.

I have seen weight limits on carryon, around 10 kilos. Just did a search on United and no limit posted, although another airline had 8 kilos. Since they don't (yet) weigh them it is a non issue until you go on a small or propeller plane where they get picky. Another heads up is that baggage allowance change not just by airline and country, but by airplane model, season, class of ticket, etc. Search on the web sight of your airline foe EACH flight.

This is my style of packing, minus the bidet! lol I will try it though! ; - D I also prioritize multiple ultralight shirts & undies vs. extra shoes so I can spend more time enjoying travel and less doing laundry. (Up to 5 ultralight shirts can fit in the space of one regular one.) An ultralight day bag and portable battery charger are must-haves, and I love my San Diego Hat Company UPF50 ribbon hat with 5" brim. (Skin cancer-free at 80 = #lifegoals lol) POWDERED SPF50 brush-on sunscreen by Colorescience is great for travel (and everyday), and I also like La Roche Posay Anthelios mineral sunscreen lotion (no breakouts despite sensitive skin). Also, big YES to needing less toothpaste than they show in commercials! A microfiber towel is also handy for rolling and twisting water out of hand washed items for faster drying. Great, practical, video, and I love seeing people's "luxury item" picks as well. Push up bars are a new one! ; - ) Thank you for sharing!

Good except for carrying PassPort in the day pack - if the backpack is lost, stolen. forgotten, left in a cab your PP is gone. Get a fanny pouch or my favorite is an around the neck/under the pouch to keep it on your person at all times. Also these pouches have RFID protection for your Credit/Debit cards against remote skimmers.

I have this bag, the junior version. Everything is awesome about this bag, except, the absence of waist belt. The organisation in this bag is the best I have seen till date, and made me fall in love with this bag. But believe me, once you fill this bag to its full capacity, the weight will break your shoulders without adequately padded waist belts to transfer the weight to your hips. That is the only reason I do not use it anymore :-(. I think for an average person, padded waist belts are a must for any backpack above 30 ltrs capacity. Of course, it is not important if you always plan to carry it suitcase style and do not plan to carry it on your back.

I have the same bag (junior size though) and am about to go on an overseas trip with it. I have some questions about it, if you don't mind. How was the weight of the bag while walking around? I'm concerned that it'll get uncomfortably heavy once it's all packed up. Also, did you carry it on the plane? If you did, did you have any issues with it?
@paulholstein9448
@paulholstein9448 6 жыл бұрын
The bag itself is very lightweight. The only two heavy things I carried were my SLR camera and my MacBook Pro. Without those two, this would be a seriously light setup. Even with those extra 10-15 pounds, it was certainly portable. I carried the bag on dozens of flights so far and have never had a problem, although I did have to remove the laptop on one small plane to get it to fit in the tight luggage compartment.

@paulholstein9448
@paulholstein9448 6 жыл бұрын
Partly true. I agree I wouldn't want to carry this bag for an hour, especially if I had heavy items in it. It is simply not designed to be a backpack. It's a suitcase that you can carry on your back, not a backpack you can use as a suitcase. As far as weight is concerned, this thing is light. If it were any lighter, you wouldn't notice the difference. The weight of the bag is negligible compared to the weight of the contents.

Technically, it would be considered overhead luggage, but when you wear this on your back and board the plane, the gate agents don't typically pay attention. I've never had any issues taking it onboard without scrutiny. But lately, I always pay for overhead luggage just to make sure I've got a place for it in case the bins are full.

LOL, I've flown over 600,000 base miles on Delta Airlines alone. Internationally, I've traveled to the Bahamas, Mexico, Canada, Belize, Guatamala, Costa Rica, Cuba, Peru, Iceland, Sweden, France, England, Poland, Germany, Italy, Austria, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Cambodia and Thailand. Some of them several times. Domestically, I've traveled to and visited almost every state. So no, this was not my first trip with a carry on bag. Travel Towel? It's a luxury item. Weighs virtually nothing, takes little room and could be useful on excursions. I never used it. Zip off Travel pants? I use them all the time. I used them several times on this trip with changing weather conditions and I use them at home when I go hiking. You really should try them. They are awesome, you have no idea what you are missing. There is a very good reason they make them and they are popular. The pant legs store easily in my lightweight travel backpack that I demonstrated in the video.

There's a trade-off between carrying more shirts or less. With more shirts, you can go longer between laundry. This can be great because you can often find very reasonably priced laundromats if you have the time. With less shirts, it weighs less, but you have to do laundry more often. As far as spending money, everyone has their vices. This is a reasonable luxury that I can afford. It makes me happy so I think it's worth it.

It really depends on how often you'd like to do laundry. When you travel by air every third day with your wife and children, it's not always convenient to do laundry. You have to expand your horizon and consider that not everyone travels like you. You have to pack what makes sense for you. In my case, I had plenty of room and the suitcase was light enough that I was able to cater to my travel requirements. Your case may be different. Doesn't make it right or wrong. Maybe this isn't what you should do, but it was perfect for me.
