Extractor comparison of the best entry level extractors for auto detailing. Today we compare the Bissell spotclean pr against a shop vac home built extractor. Both are great option for car detailing. The Bissell Spotclean Pro is best suited for the homeowner or auto detailing enthusiast. It has medium durability and is designed for using as a part time machine for spot cleaning and smaller jobs. It can easily do extractions for car interiors but is best suited for a weekend warrior and not so much for the every day professional detailer. I have owned this machine for a few years and used it countless times with no problems at all. Its a great entry level extractor. The converted shop vac is a more robust version that is capable of daily use and gets really good results in your car interior. Is it Pro level? Not quite but not that far off either. A Rigid portable Vac is designed for construction use giving it great durability and has a long lasting reputation. The upgraded professional grade extractor head on it gives you a higher end user experience and does a great job extracting. This is more for the professional detailer on a budget. Tip. Save some of the money that you make with this machine for a future upgrade to a pro model. I highly recommend either of these machines as long as you use the right extractor for the use you have planned. Thanks for watching and I hope you consider subscribing to the channel.

I think the idea is for mobile detailers like us who don't have a shop and want to do a better job than what the Bissell can do. I know, I have the Little Green Machine which is no different than any other small Bissell machine. I use it too because I haven't invested in this extractor head. I already have the Rigid Vac, and a pressure washer hose, so for me, I just need that head. I don't think a $1000 plus pro machine can do much better than this set up and I'll never have enough clients who need that service to invest in one.

It’s thing’s like this is when as a young man I am starting to reach certain level of maturation… specifically pertaining to having my priorities in check. I’m starting to become more aware of the importance of taking care of my things as oppose to ignoring them and spending my hard earned money on Frivolous things like a bunch of clothes and video games. These past two weeks i really wanted to get my car seats cleaned man. Or things cleaned period…. Ima save my money and get both these seats in my car are embarrassing and feel damp as ever I never knew how bad they looked until I felt them once I sat in the car with a short sleeve shirt on and shorts… makes me not even drive until I get them fixed man… but hey, I guess this is a conundrum we all go through growing up

Great video Jeremy. I've got both a professional grade machine and the Bissell. I do tend to go for the Bissell most times just because it's portable, pretty easy to set up fairly quickly, and get's the job done. I'm not a professional though so the Bissell works just fine when I am doing a yearly full interior carpet and upholstery cleaning.

I just don’t understand why they can’t make these have more suction like suck the shit outta the water u can put soap and scrub the important part is suction and no machines offer enough suction’ not consumer anyway! Even $550 rug dr pro suction is so weak it can’t even hold a paper on it’ my granddad had a carpet business in the 80/90s yea truck mounted prolly 10k plus for the set up but 2 quick passes sucked up everything these machines claiming to be a carpet cleaner are trash’ zero suction’ Also fun tip never ever mix soap with water’ make up solution get a pump sprayer 5-10$ spray area 10 mins b4 agitate then suck up’ When u mix soap n water it leaves soap n carpet that actually attracts more dirt’ lesson he thought me’ Think of it like taking a shower with soap mixed into your water’ you’d always have soap on u’ same theory so never put solution n water tank if u do u MUST empty it then use clean water and water only to do a rinse but now u soaked your carpet too much So don’t mix soap!! Buy a sprayer spray soap then scrub drill brushes r great $10 at amazon / Home Depot then suck up’

I had an aqua vac pro. It was OK but it had some issues. The clean water reservoir was a little small and required re filling and could potentially damage the vacuum motor if it ran dry. The buttons also stuck because of the way the top sits. Lastly the plastic transparent portion on the handle broke because of the pressure when vacuuming. All in all 4/10 for being $600.

Great video and comparison. I think that the biggest advantages of the ridgid setup are that if the power unit ever pukes out it easy and economical to go to Home Depot to get a replacement and the ridgid can be used as a good powerful dry vac as well. The bissell is economical but is restricted to extracting only,has a smaller collection tank and isn’t nearly as rugged as the ridgid but it does do a great job extracting

Thanks for another great video on this. I have the Rigid vac and the orange accessory hose which is what I use on-site for vacuuming and I also have a spare waterline hose as well. This set-up appears to work so much better because the suction I’m seeing is worlds away from what any of the little Bissells can do, and I’ve owned 4 of them. They break, they leak and have a short lifespan, but they do work. It would be very convenient having both a vacuum and an extractor in the same machine. I use my client’s water, so they wouldn’t mind if I hooked up to their washer hot water line. I'm mobile detailer and I’ve use a Little Green Machine from Bissell, but only because I don't have this extraction head shown here, because I don't have that many clients that need extraction. Super Clean and a wet towel cleans most superficial upholstery stains, so I don't even bring it with me unless I know I'll need it. Most times it’s just a spilled drink I’m removing with it, not the entire car interior (although I've done it). I also have a small steamer machine that is smaller than the Rigid vac, but rarely need it. I’ve collectively spent about $500 on those little Bissell extractors and while they work for a little while, they do not last long and I’ve never used one so much that it should stop working, but they do. My fault for having kept replacing them. One just tipped over once and the hose leaked ever since. I also see no advantage to a professional system over this (with hot water), because you are delivering water, then sucking it up, that’s it. If it does those two things well, it gets a pass from me and you don’t need to spend $1000 to accomplish that. In addition, the suction is so good on my Rigid vac that I would use it in my home after I shampoo my carpets. Those home carpet machines (yep, also Bissell) leave so much water behind on your carpets, that this set up would definitely cure. I know how well that Rigid vac is, and I’m telling you it could damn near suck up a refrigerator, so using it as an extractor is brilliant, especially if you have pets. My vac was $80 at HD online and came with 2 free bags (although some don't use them) and was shipped to me free. It was $90 in the store and did not come with extra bags (I know, go figure). The orange hose is in an accessory in a kit you have to buy separate for around $50. Whether you use it as an extractor or just a vac, it's a great machine.

Great follow up video on the ready to use extractor and the modified extractor. In the comparison video at the end I payed special attention to performance and it seems like the Bissell stalls in a pattern (much like a pad stalling on a paint surface) and the custom Rigid extractor had continues flow. This was the most compelling for me because it looks like the pump is overworked on the Spotclean.

You can def use it and take care of it. But boy does it suck. I cleaned a couple cars straight from auction and it took much longer than I thought. Nice result. But a lot of elbow grease and time. And it’s annoying having to recline a seat forwards or backwards to place the machine inside the car cause if it’s a truck it won’t reach with its small hose to do the entire seat. And the countless times turning it off to dump the water and add more. I’m gonna try sometime soon to convert a vacuum to extractor. It looks much simpler.

When i used the bissell a few years ago it was hell, as someone else mentioned the extremely short hose makes it extremely awkward to work with, if doing larger vehicles like vans you’re looking at 12 trips to drain and 3 to fill throughout which all eats into your time on the job, was great just using on my personal car but for customers it wasn’t great

Just from experience for vacuums Rigid ship vacs have been very disappointing for me while Bissell home vacs have really surprised me with its suction power. Both at similar price points. I repeat, while one disappoints, bissell has always blown my expectations away for its price and performance. Ordered the bissell pro for its size factor/convenience too.

Bought a Bissell Spot Clean Pro to use on my own vehicles. Cleaned the seats and carpet in my daughters car using P &S Carpet Bomber and a drill brush ahead of the Bissell and I thought it did a good job. Being a dedicated vacuum I would assume the Rigid would have more suction, and using a hose directly from the faucet would give you more water flow also. Although it is slower, the thing I like about the Bissell is that it is all self contained after you fill the water reservoir. Easy to move around the car without pulling a hose behind. I also don't have hot water yet in my shop, but I can fill the Bissell reservoir in my house with hot water before using. Also the Bissell having smaller diameter - more flexible hose and a smaller extractor end, the Bissell seems easier to get into tight corners then the Rigid.

I bought the Bissell Commercial BGSS1481 (the commercial version of the small, portable spot cleaning extractor). The plastic housing at the end of the hose that contains the trigger assembly is incredibly thin/brittle plastic and breaks ridiculously easy. You have to buy a new hose assembly for $26 to get it worked but it still is super fragile. The shop vac hose is a much more solid construction that can hold up to normal wear and tear.

Nice comparison video! My go to vac is Stanley 6 gallon 4HP from Walmart for $50. I get about 600 hours out of one. For shampooing carpets and seats, I use a garden hose with nozzle set to mist. Spray the fabric and lather it up with a brush. Then I suck it up while spraying with the mist setting. I had a Rigid. It cost 3x more than my Stanley and the filters are $30 . My Stanley has better suction than the Rigid. Sold the Rigid for a song just to get rid of it. I also had a Little Green Machine and I might just get the Bissel Spot Pro.

I’m surprised Bissell has not provided a longer hose for the spot pro unit. That seems to be one of the number one complaints. But it still does a solid job if you only need it a few times a year.

The Bissell's biggest shortcoming is the relatively weak vac motor. Weaker machines just can't draw in enough air-mass to utilize a longer hose. I'd honestly pay double the price if they stuck a SERIOUS motor in these things. I absolutely do not want to fuss around with trying to find a spigot for water like with the shop-vac setup, but you do get more suction.

Jeremy, Thank you for the fun to watch and enjoyable informative video. I am curious if there is a difference between the Bissell SpotClean Pro 3624 and the Bissell Little Green Pro Commercial BGSS 1481 Kind of hard to get side by side specs to compare but the Green Pro definitely have a much wider nozzle which is nice but the plastic used for it is not clear which doesn’t help to see how much dirt is coming off what you are cleaning. Was curious to know if the motor was bigger. I will be buying one of these units soon. Thanks again

Good job Jeremy, I use tP&S Products myself. I live about 10 miles away Freon where they make the stuff in Hayward, CA. I know this video is mainly for the machines. My Pro-Flight extractor is old and bulky. My old upholstery tool handle broke. Have you tried the “Finisher” from P&S? It’s like my final step after I use the Terminator and Carpet Bomb . “Finisher” removes the final residuals from the other products and also helps break down the molecules as minimizes any Mold build up.. Gonna look at your links to get the parts for my build. Again, good job and Mahalo...

Hey Jeremy, love your vids!...........I have an extractor kit made by Shop Vac. I bought it many years ago, and as I remember it was pretty reasonably priced? Came with hose, large and small nozzles, extension wands (for floors) and a water/soap injector. It works very well but unfortunately, I dont think that they make it any more? I have a Bissle but find that it just doesn't have enough suction power to do a good job. The shop vac kit is something that I wish they would bring back as mine is getting tired.

After watching your video, I purchased a Bissell Spot Clean Pro and your pump sprayer, but I need your recommendation for a drill attachment cleaning pad or soft bristle brush gentle enough to use on microfiber upholstery. Should I use a drill attachment sponge pad for waxing & polishing paint instead of a drill attachment brush? A few KZfaq videos demonstrate and recommend using Method brand glass cleaner as a solution for cleaning microfiber upholstery, but if you think P&S Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner would be better than Method brand glass cleaner for microfiber upholstery, please let me know. Thank you for your cleaning videos!

I have owned the bissell for about 2 years now. It has been a great tool for both cars and the home. I can spot treat carpet messes inside the house. Comes in handy when you have a puppy. My biggest gripe is the tank can leak at the threads. I have two. One with water only and another with 10:1 La's Totally Awesome APC. Both leak at the threads. The water one has never seen any cleaner fluid. So just need to be careful with the tank if you leave it out.

Hey Jeremy: have an off topic question if you don’t mind. I have been using P&S Pearl and am nearly out. My wash location is nearly always full sun so I’m looking for a ph neutral soap that cleans well and rinses clean with no residue or streaks. Nice foaming ability would be an added bonus. Have an MJCC enroute. What do you recommend?
@HawaiiDetailing
@HawaiiDetailing 2 жыл бұрын
GSF is probably one of the best soaps out there. My preference is Adam’s mega foam in the cannon and a shot of GSF in the bucket. Ethos foam party is another of my favorites. Any one of these should do well. Only work an area that you can finish before it dries on the paint. Almost any soap that dries on the paint will be a problem. Even if you have to do smaller sections at a time rinsing in between. That’s another reason for thick foam is a longer working time.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to find this interesting. But I was wrong. Interesting comparison. Obviously the Rigid was the strongest and most efficient. But the little Bissell did work. I have heard that sometimes folks put cleaning solutions in the water tanks, which you can’t do with the Rigid, any thoughts on that? Thanks for sharing 👍✌️☮️

That would be tricky to do with the rigid but not impossible. To be honest, I don't know anyone that adds detergent to the water tank. It's much more productive to spray on the detergent, agitate with brushes and then rinse out with the extractor. If you added it to the tank, you would probably need to use one tank to wash and then refill with clean water. to rinse.

@@roanokejoe yes, it works well on a microfiber couch. I also cleaned a futon I haven't used in years and it looks like new . For its price it certainly performs extremely well. The only downside is because of its compact size you may need to refill the water tank and empty the waste water more often than on a larger machine. It's quite light and really straightforward to use. I got one because detail geek recommended them.

If you have a good shop vac with high cfm, you would be surprised on how dry you will get the seats with the extractor head alone. You can get it dryer if you go over it with other heads though. Especially if your extractor head doesn’t offer good flow.

Great video , couple of questions , so I’m just starting out on carpets in homes ….. I have bought a bissell big green 1400w extraction cleaner but. I wondered what method and solution should I use. Should I mix up a prochem solution and agitate with a soft broom I bought , then clean water only in the bissell to get the dirt and soap out or mix it in the 2 gallon bissell tank and clean that way ( treating any stains first) ? Also what do you think is the best cleaner to put in the machine to leave little residue after. The carpet to be fair are incredibly dry after completion. Is it possible at this stage to get results like an industrial machine Thanks again great video

I would use straight water in the machine to have the best chance of removing the cleaner. Definitely use the spray on and agitate the product and extract out with plain water method. That’s what I would do. Thanks for watching

Great video. I'm curious though, what are the benefits of a 8070 over the shop vac extractor once it's hooked up to heat? I know the appearance comes off more professional, but from a functionality standpoint I would think the shop vac actually has more suction and aren't compromising on quality. So what is the added benefit to spending $17-1800 more for the same function?
