George, the reason you feel guilt is because the Holy Spirit is convicting you. You’re living in sin and until you marry her look at her like your sister. Stop dishonoring her and marry her. There will never be a “perfect” time to get married. Put your faith in Christ that he’ll lead you . God bless 🙏

I just attended my besties wedding last weekend. Her and her husband (fiancee) at the time lived together a year before they officially got married. I reached out to her a few days ago about how she was feeling and was like " you know me and my husband thought things would be the same but everything feels so different." I told her that because they are in a holy covenant everything is cemented in the eyes of God. I believe that this will happen for you too. Follow his ways and he will bless it 100x fold.

This is my story as well. My now husband and i lived together for years, we met Christ and decided we wanted to get married. Once we got married, everything changed. Which was definitely something I’d never thought would happen since I’ve lived with him for 3 years. Nothing has changed in the physical. Our everyday lives are the same but spiritual it’s a completely different feeling. The connection is on a different level. I now understand it’s more than sex that brings 2 to become 1

My girlfriend who is now my fiancée, we lived together for around 5-6 years before marriage. Now, we’ve currently been living separately since January as we are getting married in September. We have also took pre-marital counseling with our Pastor and his wife. Mind you, we also have a 3 year old together. Yes, it can be difficult, but it’s all for the honor and glory of God. All glory belongs to Jesus!

Aww, man. She is breaking my heart. George, I was in her shoes once. I justified my relationship and cohabited and called what we had a “marriage”. But it kept getting in the way of my walk. But you’re not alone. The Holy Spirit will keep convicting both of you. Bc he loves us. If you love her as Gods daughter just honor her. It doesn’t matter how big your wedding is or the guest list. Love does not lead another to sin. Yes, God is full of grace but the consequences that can sometimes come with this is not worth it. I pray that God keeps convicting you and He gives you wisdom and direction. Ruslan is a true friend to be able to correct and bring this up with love. Bc he knows how damaging this is to a couple of believers. And thank you for being so honest and open. That takes a lot of courage. Also, there is no condemnation is Christ. You guys are loved and already victorious.

Don’t worry guys, they’re in a transmarital relationship. They’re not actually married, but they see themselves as married so it’s okay. Woman to woman, Belle needs to respect herself a bit more. If George really honoured her like he says, it would be reflective in his actions. As a so-called husband, he is supposed to be her spiritual covering. Her purity is his responsibility and yet he continues to compromise her integrity by leading her into sexual sin. There’s no justification for why he hasn’t married her already. A marriage is a marriage. Not whatever you make it out to be in your mind

It seems like George is more upset at his guilt of it, than the wrongdoing itself of it. At some point you just have to put it into action and dont excuse it. He knows he shouldn't have sex now. Nothing left to do but actually stop. Its absolutely doable and real sacrifice that isnt tied to some career reward. Worst case, itll only make him stronger after it. Even fasting from sex within marriage can be a good exercise to make sure it doesnt become an idol.

I’ve had the thought before that having sex together can equal marriage but than I thought about fornication. Isn’t fornication sex before marriage? The term fornication wouldn’t exist if you could simply sleep together and be married. The Old Testament wouldn’t have laws saying that if a man sleep with a virgin, he must marry her. They’re fornicating and if tomorrow they wanted to separate, nothing would or could stop them because they’re not truly married.

Loved this exhortation from Ruslan. George + Belle, I think you both know that you’re simply not married if you’re just plain honest with yourselves. It’s okay to wrestle with some of the guilt and conviction that you’re feeling- it’s the KINDNESS of God that leads to repentance (which in this case is changing your mind about your marital status and understanding that you’re not married, setting a date and tying the knot) I think you’ll have so much more clarity when you guys take that step forward in obedience. You’re either married or you’re not, there’s no middle ground. If you’re wrestling with the convictions that you’re speaking about, it’s ok to level set with yourselves! Don’t let the enemy beat you down with guilt and shame because of premarital sex or living together or any of it. Tie that knot and step into the abundance of life that God has waiting for you on the other side of the wedding altar!

This is the only thing he consistently makes excuses for. God has not ordained or blessed a relationship that is outside of his standard, period. God gave clear instructions on marriage, cohabitation, fornication, God gave instruction that doesn’t change based on what WE think or WE feel there’s a lot of “we feel we think how we see it” but it just isn’t what the Lord has spoken. But glad they’re trying to take accountability and are aware of what’s wrong. If George doesn’t feel comfortable doing that at his parents home, he should revere and respect the Lord the same way. Just go to the courthouse, worry about everything else later

I am not judging them because I’ve been in their shoes. I wish I could shake them and say a ceremony isn’t near as important as honoring God! This can be turned around with repentance and an afternoon at the local court house. I think George is so wise but I hope he takes this dudes advice! It’s great advice!! I feel like we often talk about marriage in a “moral” sense, but actually the meaning behind it is much deeper than that. It’s crazy how we dont realize the spiritual blessings that are connected to the public declaration, in front of God and man. It’s something that may seem trivial, but the power of our public declaration and of our words have a great impact on the spiritual realm. We don’t light a lamp and put it under a basket. We place it on a lamp stand where it can give light to everyone. 💛 love you guys!

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for showing me a different perspective on what it means to be a leading husband in Christ. I have been struggling with a deep-seated fear of marriage, exacerbated by the gender wars and the many unhealthy relationships I've witnessed. Despite the positive influence of my brother-in-law, who has shown me the importance of faithfulness and living according to the Word. However, seeing you acknowledge the error as yours because you are the head. I now see the protection in submission which has lifted another knot of fear. I can't fully explain it, but I felt like another shackle of fear for marriage just fell away. I've always believed that dating should be with the intention of marriage, but my fear has kept me from being open to any romantic relationships. The mix of desiring marriage but being too afraid to embrace it has lessened, and, I feel a genuine sense of hope and peace regarding this topic.

Appreciate both perspectives here and I hear George's perspective on understanding/treating his relationship as a marriage at this point even if it isn't legally so. Tbh, I think a lot of people unknowingly engage in, essentially, married life and divorce when they choose to "just live together." The thought in culture oftentimes is that it's somehow not going to be as bad of an experience separating if they were never married, when in function we're basically just choosing to marry without commitment and desensitizing ourselves to divorce (as many people will have multiple break-ups from live-in partners in their life, despite maybe claiming to have never been married or divorced). George seems to rightly identify that those people are basically married (and often divorcing) in all but name. Personally, I'd say just get legally married if you consider yourselves married. Heck, go to a courthouse and get it done in an afternoon. Have the ceremony later. I just feel there's something important to the holy and sanctified moment of commitment in covenant with witnesses. Just like we can become a Christian in a moment and commit to God, but God commands we engage in the Sacrament of Baptism. There's something important for us in every sacrament that God gives us. Keep up the introspective hearts, George and Bell!

Having sex with an understanding of what it truly means (one flesh, a covenant) even with the intention of marriage with the other individual you’re having it with does not excuse wedlock out of sin, you know? That’s deception at its finest; and honestly when y’all were talking about reverence for your earthly parents so you sleep in seperate beds there should be much much more reverence for our Heavenly Father like it just feels so contradictory - and I don’t mean to judge you seriously I just know you’re a hardcore guy who desires truth and you’re leading someone who’s quite open to every spiritual leading you go on. This is imperative to truly stand apart from the world and be the salt, as the word says!! 💍

Looking back, the optimal decision would’ve been to live separately and truly grow more and exercise that self control. Because don’t get it twisted, you’re still both going to need to have self control in a marriage. The desires of the flesh cannot and should not always be fulfilled right.

Love the transparency in wanting to honor God with your relationship and future marriage- but even though you guys feel like you’re already in a covenant it’s not actually so in the sight of God until you properly marry one another. My husband and I were intimate before we got married and it would weigh us down. We felt the effects of sin on us spiritually and after we got married it completely changed a night and day difference!! We no longer felt the effects of sin after being together. Even though we got married we started off our first year of marriage really rough due to our spiritual condition of not repenting fully before getting married. There was some repentance but not completely since we had no accountability before.

Now stop whatever you have been doing, repent and turn away from having sex until you have resolved the conflict in your consience by officially getting married. If what you're doing is not sinful but you still wait till official marriage, you're losing nothing but if in any case it is sinful then there's great loss and consequences of sin. You guys are NOT married. You are NOT one, neither is she your wife nor is he your husband. You can not identify as being married. Therefore, you are still living in sin. It seems like you guys are just not willing to die to your fleshly desires, which is having se* with each other. You are fully aware of this sin and its consequences and yet you still choose to do it. How do you expect God to bless your covenant when you purposefully dont honor His commandments?

My then fiance and I got legally married prior to our ceremony only because his recruiter said it would be easier to submit our marriage certificate asap prior to going to boot camp so I was able to be on his file as his wife. So we got legally married a couple of months prior to the ceremony. It did not take away from the moment at the ceremony because we shared in our covenant with our loved ones.

As for my fiance and I, we knew that the temptations were getting to be too much...so because we also didn't have much saved up for a reception party, we went ahead and got legally married by our pastor and two witnesses, and held our reception party two years later when we can celebrate our nuptuals with our friends and family. When we finally had our reception, it was still very special and memorable, in reality it was like re-newing our vows but for others, it was a witness of ourfirst wedding. 🎉

Josefa honored Mary. He did not sleep with her before marriage, and he even married Mary so as not to tarnish her reputation and be above reproach after Gabriel revealed the miracle of Jesus' conception. The Bible clearly states that marriage is marriage; there is no covenant in playing married.

Fornicating before marriage is demonic. This guy swears and uses God's name in vain. God is no respecter of persons

This is wisdom at its finest. Take heed to what Ruslan is saying. Do not lean on your own understanding. I’ve been there did the same thing and once we were actually married- you will see that it does matter and being in covenant is very different. Honor God, just do it. Congrats in advance. 🙏🏾

Even if you had sex, need to separate until they are married. That’s why his parents don’t allow it, that’s how it should be.

Hey George, the Holy Spirit is telling you to either get married or move apart from each other before you get married. My wife and I were literally in the same situation as you 40 years ago and my brother-in-law called my wife and I and asked us to pray about movong apart from each other. I thought I was living according to God's will, but there is always temptation at a close proximity, mainly things that will take you away from Christ. My wife and I now still talk about how much time we spent in prayer and how we grew closer to God during the 6 months we moved apart from each other before we got married. I'm the best part was I was in school at the time trying to find a place to live and I had a friend who allowed me to stay with him essentially for free. God will always provide for any of the needs that you have and then that you think you will not be able God will always provide for any of the needs that you have and then that you think you will not be able God will always provide for any of the needs that you have. Please allow the spirit to guide you.

For George and Belle to allow themselves to be corrected online is such a beautiful and humble thing, because other people even myself have been in this situation, also having people comment on your situation is hard, but I'm thankful that most comments are correcting in love but stern Also no one should judge, Jesus says a the one who has never sinned should throw the 1st stone, John 8 vs 7

I hear excuses. They know it’s wrong how they’re living with each other, BUT my husband and I were once like them. We made the decision to stop living in sin and are married. I also broke a general curse of being unwed with kids. I’m proud of myself and I know the Lord is happy with me.

We have been talking about the fear of the Lord...listeners to this convicted me of certain things that I know I need to do, but have been putting off for different excuses. Because there is so much gace given to us, we forget His fear/honor that is due to Him.

My husband and I got married in my parents living room almost 18 years ago. With only a handful of family members there. We haven’t regretted having a small ceremony, and spending our money on paying off our debts instead and purchasing a used car instead of just the one day. We wanted to get married to make our relationship right before God, and that was the most important to us.

Gorge is referring to the Old Testament when Abraham’s son took Rebecca into the tent and then they were married by consummation. Christ changed that when he came to this fallen world. Jesus clearly states that you must be married and declare your vows in front of God, a holy witness/church, and hopefully your family. Having sex in a tent doesn’t count anymore and marriage is an easy way to honor god, your parents/wife's parents and your wife. Please get married asap. It will feel different even if you are roleplaying being married currently. Trust me, my husband and I did the same thing for 3 years, than we got married, and it is so different. The holy spirt acts differently when you’ve vowed in front of God, a community and your family.Amen and god bless the three of you. Christ is always king.

Jacob became married to the wrong sister thru sex witch was the last part of the ceremony. They did have a ceremony without the bride present and then he laid with her. So I believe it was more than the sex that solidified it, and besides he took 2 wives and 2 mistresses so he wasn’t mr do things according to gods will, but even with all that god used him
