Hi there😊! Good question. Tardive Dyskinesia is not under the EPS umbrella. Just like EPS and NMS, TD is its own side effect. It usually is caused by the long term use of antipsychotic meds.

Every drug has their side effects, there is no magic drug that has absolutely no side affects. Antipsychotics are indicated for patients with psychotic disorders, yes first generation or atypical antipsychotics cause EPS, but it will reduce the positive symptoms of for example schizophrenia. Each drug has their pros and cons, and it is the patient’s decision to take them or not.

@@Anonymouss11 It wasn't my choice at one time. Antipsychotics also increase the risk of diabetes, seizures, and other things.

Are these symtomps indicate brain damage ? My 11 yr old son got the symptoms after his pediatrician gave chlorpromazine 100 mg to cure his fever. Please help, i am confused, is this malpracticed?
