Any Nissan dealer in the US can get any part for an R32 as long as the part is still in production/ available in Japan. All you have to do is provide the US dealer with a picture of the VIN plate, tell them what part you want, and ask them to call DPIC( dealer parts information center ). At DPIC the agent sends the case to the parts analyst who checks availabilty and changes the part flags so the US dealer can order the part. Once the dealer receives the part the part analyst puts the restriction back on the part number. They usually fly the part from Japan to the parts Distribution Center.

I totally agree with the blow off valve delete. I did it on all my Subarus, and when your nail shifts, the boost keeps building. I just did it to my F22 M235i, and the low end response is fantastic.

As big a fan of Larry's as I am, I'm not a fan of Tommy Farrell. From personal experience, if you lack KZfaq car clout he treats you differently. But, I will give props where props are due; he knows how to procure parts, has a GREAT eye for detail and he has a great team building these cars. I'll never take that away from him. But that's all I'll give him.

Half of what Tommy said about Paul Walker was correct. You can get the actual factual story from Craig Leiberman on KZfaq, the automotive director for the first Fast movies. Craig was actually with Paul buying the Skylines. And it had nothing to do with the R33. Paul was enamored by Craig's R34 which was repainted and used for 2F2F. Go check him out for the true details.

Kozo San at Garage Yoshida is the one who rebuild the GTRs in Japan. He gets them dipped and rebuilds them to whatever spec you want

Larry - you realise people in Australia have been rebuilding /restoring GTRs for over 20 years? That was before the internet! What Tommy is doing is great, but outside of the US it’s a well trodden path.

No. They never made RHD GTRs so there's no way to get an interior or steering rack.

I'm not 100% shure if you can do it with the r32, a lot of people have done it with the r34. They cant use the original dash and a lot of other parts but it is possible to change the r34 from rhd to lhd.

I'll tell you why there is a hose up between the head and the firewall, it's a design carry over from the coolant passage from the L-series motor. :p

4:25 I’m surprised tommy is still obsessed with that one rubber hose. It really doesn’t take a genius to either look at the engine or the parts catalog and see that the coolant pipe goes to the turbos. The rubber hose is there to serve as an expansion joint. The turbos don’t stay perfectly in the same place when you’re pushing 800C exhaust into the turbine. Also surprised he doesn’t know that the two vacuum pipes are for boost control off the top of his head. One is the wastegate line and the other is the atmospheric vent to raise the boost. Those have rubber hoses where they go into the wastegate for similar reasons.

@@DOAHunt3r I never really thought about the rubber lines to be in place as an expansion joint. On an L-Series, the carburetors should not really be moving independently of the motor, I figured it was due to cost/serviceability... Good to know I'll keep that in mind with the L28ET build.

@@justamarthe group A cars the turbos got so insanely hot you can see they put a bunch of reinforcing bars to keep the exhaust manifolds from drooping, the stock cars shouldn’t get that bad but if it was all hardline it doesn’t take much over many thermal cycles to break things. Back when these could be daily cars we’re talking at least 2 cold starts per day.

I’m still confused back at the point that Paul Walker bought an R34 at a US Dealer in California and got it titled and registered lol. Plus I think I read there were fourteen MotoRx cars only but a hundred KZfaq channels saying they have an original car from them. Plus did MotoRx do S15s?? Very confused 😐

Tommy guy is a you-tuber first, mechanic second. After all of his scandals I am surprised Larry would trust his clean car with him. There are so many quiet, reputable shops out there. There is no "magic", and there is usually an engineering reason. There is always a trade off. Never trust the person who thinks they know somebody someone else doesn't.
