If you kill the dark justiciar, Yurgir will not attack and you can avoid the conflict without any tricky skill check. Later on he will be grateful for you helping him with that and will join sides against Raphael also without the lvl 30 skill check.

That is right, but when you want to kill him at this place yourself and not free a demon, you should deal with him first than with the rat plague. Maybe I am special, but I prefer killing Yurgir AND Raphael.

BTW: When you take all the hints together, you find out the demons plot. Again smart writing by Larian! SPOILERS .... The rats belong to Raphaels plot to jail Yurgir. He bribed Yurgir to extinguish the dark justiciars, but in reality he forged the contract in a way, that he could basically jail him. At the same time he gave the last of the justiciars the hint, how to escape the onslaught. And this hint was also the lock to the jail, because Yurgir was unable to see, that he must kill ALL rats to fulfill the contract and so he could not and was doomed to stay. The justiciar also was doomed, since he lived on but not as human but as a nest of rats that barely remembered their former being.

I just found this place by chance while researching the location. Also, if you kill the Justiciar, Yugir will be friendly to you, but Astarion will be angry that Rafial will not help him decipher the scars. To awoid this you need to attack Yugir without entering into dialogue with him. But before that I advise you to shop at the demon merchant nearby. Oh, and of course, during the battle, when Yugir throws bombs, put them out with water and pick them up in your inventory. Very сool stuff.

If you kill the dark justiciar, Yurgir will be free, Raphael will be angry, and then he will not tell Astarion what his scars mean, and Astarion will be mad enough to dump you for it.

Use Featherfall to get to the treasure location without hurting yourself. The rats treasure is really not worth it. But in that area are also other provisions from the justiciars hidden and some kind or "control room". So it makes sense to go there, even when you can't find the rats treasure (when you kill the rats, you can go there but you will not find the "treasure" even when near it). In my first run I totally skipped that area, because it is a little difficult to find and go there (with Featherfall no problem) and lost some easy loot.

I'll just trick Yurgir into killing himself, THEN I'll kill the rats...and hopefully be able to get the weapons from him and the Justicar at the same time...assuming that will work.
