Hi everyone! (NOV. 29, 2018 @4:50 p.m. Boston) I'm very sorry that just a few comments have been published. Something very strange is preventing me from seeing and approving additional comments. I've tried to access the comments on Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer. This is a glitch on KZfaq. I hope I'll be able to read all your comments later this evening or tomorrow morning. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks for your patience with my replies. :)

Your presentations on all elements of English language are very eye-catching, interesting, easy-to-follow and irresistible to watch. I love all of them. @@Englishwithjennifer My pleasure! Jennifer, your teaching method is as good as the VOA Special English Programme. No other radio station has ever succeeded to spread English language throughout the world and has won the hearts and minds of the English language learners. When I was a junior at high school, I used to listen to the programme on the radio three times a night, each session was for 45 minutes. I had been so nuts about it. Can you imagine why? Because its presenters like Mrs. Yankee and others were so good at their presentations. They became the source of my inspiration for improving my English. When I saw you presenting clauses on your website, you reminded me of the presenters on the VOA. To be honest, I was hooked on the spot by your explanation. That is why I visit your website every night and brows your playlists on the KZfaq.com. We have saying in our country, and it says," Only a goldsmith knows the value of gold." Therefore, I advise all English language learners join your website and value its content as gold. If they want to improver their language skills and be fluent in English in order to convey their thoughts and views clearly and appropriately in different contexts, they should spend a couple of hours each night and watch your videos. Keep on your unique teaching!

The first step is making words part of your passive vocabulary. Just understanding them in context. The next step is to use them. You may not need to talk about being cross-eyed, so that for example, might stay passive. But the idioms like "didn't sleep a wink" or "in the blink of an eye" are worth practicing. I hope you'll also follow me on Instagram.

@Englishwithjennifer

We often close our eyes to reflect or meditate. We might daydream with our eyes closed or as we stare out the window. When we make a wish, we also close our eyes...like just before blowing out our birthday candles.

how to say a person that look down at sth, staring at sth below shorter than you. I heard someone said something similar like "narrowing down on you" in a film, i thought it was "narrow" so I looked up the meaning of "narrowing down" on google but it's meaning is not the action of looking down at sth. Can someone help me, I heard that word but dont know the pattern to write
@Englishwithjennifer
@Englishwithjennifer 4 жыл бұрын
If you look down on others, then you consider them inferior to you. In this situation, "look down on" is a phrasal verb. You can also look down at a small child simply because you are taller. That's the literal meaning. When you narrow down your choice or narrow down your list, you reduce it. For example, Joe Biden must narrow down his choice of possible vice presidents. His list must become shorter.

Good morning @JLebedev_ESL .I have a query related to grammar's point of view.In short, Today when I was reading an article of newspaper , I found this line that I'm going to write down 👇 the elections be completed by January which necessitated that the government be in place to issue the notification urgently. I just wanted to know why "be" is take place of will in the above sentence ? Would it be wrong to write this way? The elections will be completed by January 10 .Please explain
@Englishwithjennifer
@Englishwithjennifer 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Suresh. I agree that the first use of "be" seems odd. Are you sure you didn't leave out a word or a phrase? This would make sense: They ordered (mandated/demanded/etc.) that the elections be completed by January, which necessitated... With your variation, we'd need to change the second part to the present tense: The elections will be completed by January 10, which necessitates that...
