First of all, I thank you so much, when I read a novel, even if I know that word, I could not shape it in front of my eyes or couldnt imagine it. I was looking the word up time after time in different,various dictionary but I stiil couldnt describe it in myself. Now, I exactly know what is what and which word means what, which word includes which motion. All happened after I watched this video. Tons of Thanks to you again from the bottom of my heart. Thank you so much dear for another great lesson . Definitely these lessons are quite nice because we use all these verbs and vocabulary in daily conversations and situations, I crawl when I play with children , I jump rope daily I also squats while I do exccersie I use to hop with my friends when I was as a child and it was a kind of play in our country. children kick the ball when they play football or usually they kick whenever they fight with each others .

Yes, it's good to study different vocabulary. There are words we need for more academic/professional situations, but there are also words that are useful to know for our everyday lives. Thank you for sharing your examples. Yes, I could have mentioned the game hopscotch. I played that as a little girl and with my own kids where they were much younger. Small corrections: ...it was kind of a game in our country. / whenever they fight with each other.

Hi Jennifer.! Again I appreciate your dedication with us and consider it is a very useful class. Thank you! My answers to your questions: 1. I'm not good at kicking a soccer ball. 2. I can sit patiently most of the time. However, sometimes I lose control and then I get up and pace back and forth. 3. I never walk and text at the same time because I could trip and fall. 4. I think crawling can be good for phisical fitness in the sense of moving the body, but I do prefer to squat down or lunge when I'm exercising. 5. I walk quietly and fast in order to not disturb people and make good use of the time. Greetings!!!

Your answers are similar to mine! I think you'd be a good person for me to shop with. I race around quickly. :) Suggestions: 4. I think crawling can be good for physical fitness in the sense that I'd move my whole body, but I prefer to do squats or lunges when I'm exercising. 5. I walk quietly and fast in order to not disturb people and make good use of my time.

Very nice and useful. I walk slowly without making any noise. I think I'm a slow walker. I never prefer to type and walk at the same time; it's really dangerous sometimes. I jog and run in the morning. I've never been on a soccer team. I was very bad at it but I used to play it with my street friends when I was at school; they often made me stand at the goal post.

It's great that you jog and run each morning. You're in better shape than I am. I played kick ball as a kid, but I wasn't very good at it either. I didn't really play soccer. You can say, " I used to play it with the kids on my street." You can also say, "They made me play goalie."

Yes, there's quite a lot to describe. You can go to YouGlish and search for words like trip, stumble, fall, etc. and you'll see different uses. Remember that "trip" is also a noun and can refer to our travels to another place. Context is very important to understand how words are used.

I didn’t try kicking the soccer ball yet. I can’t sit patiently but I’m trying. When I feel tired after siting, I cross my leg or start tapping my foot. I stub my toe when I walk and text. Crawling is really useful for being fit. I walk quietly now ,but I use to walk loudly.

Good practice! Suggestions/corrections: I can’t sit patiently, but I’m trying. When I feel tired after sitting, I cross my legs or start tapping my foot. Crawling is really useful for staying fit. I walk quietly now, but I used to walk loudly. (OR noisily)

Hi Ra'ed. I know this is more review for you, but hopefully even just a few new words or expressions will appear these kinds of lessons. You can take the lesson a step further and search for "hop skip and a jump" on YouGlish. You'll find uses in various contexts. As for the dancing, ha ha. I could have chosen any number of dances, but I wondered if anyone would recognize some of the silly steps my friends and I did back in high school decades ago!

'You're going to have to put a carpet on that staircase, Jennifer. A carpeted staircase is a must for everyone with a stomping daughter :>) Stretch your legs' is also a popular expression for getting some exercise after a long time in a seated position.
@Englishwithjennifer
@Englishwithjennifer 5 жыл бұрын
LOL I asked my daughter to stomp up the stairs. She readily agreed to film that scene. :) A carpet would soften sounds, but we have a dog, so it would also trap all the fur. "Stretch one's legs" might make it into a future sequel. Again, I had to stop myself from continuing the list. Arch one's foot, etc.

@@Englishwithjennifer Feet can open up all kinds of opportunities for English lessons. There are many foot idioms and expressions: Step-by-step, a foot in the door, feet under the table, heavy footed, twinkle toes, afoot, size nines, to leave ones footprint, etc.

Sounds like you have enough material for at least one video! Twinkle toes... ha ha. Funny, but not sure it's as useful for everyday conversation. It's a good suggestion for a topic. I'll note it down for a future video. My list of videos I'd love to make is quite long, as you can imagine. :)

Another amazingly helpful video! I’m just curious that why “stamp” and “stomp” have similar spelling and mean the same... You can say “stamp the foot” or “stomp the foot”, either is ok, right?
@Englishwithjennifer
@Englishwithjennifer 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Susan. How are you? :) Yes, "stamp" and "stomp" are basically the same. In dancing, cheerleading, etc. we talk about a stomp and not a stamp. See examples: www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/stomp www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/stamp One pattern I see is that you can stand in once place and stamp OR stomp your foot. But personally I think it's more common to stomp up and down the stairs, stomp across the floor, or stomp out of the room. (stomp = walking noisily)
