Scrapped princes anime actually has a, yeah that scenario, modern past Kubera webtoon that has good fantranslations, nice. The show th 100 did actually such a scenario.i mean that an apocalypse lets , fun dark show, that get really good about carrying trauma and people screwing up and trying. Pretty sure adventure time did it too.

This sets a strange chain of misinformation: "And Rand's final showdown with the Forsaken that he has to deal with, feels like it shouldn't have gone the way it did. It's just like this rushed through. It does match the fact that the Forsaken are just incompetent, as a whole. But he manages to bumble, fumble his way into essentially taking out one of the most powerful people in known existence. Ehhh, that's not a good look." This sets the contextual stage of the last fight at the Eye. This part does not happen at the Eye: "Though I do like that Moiraine, it fits her character very well, I love in this final showdown where like the Forsaken are there and Moiraine is like 'time to murder MFers' and just fwah!! Just goes in like, just kills one of them using some sketchy sh*t I wont get into because spoilers." Moiraine slows Aginor, but is beaten. This is verified by Moiraine immediately after the battle by Moiriane herself. Balthamel is killed by The Green Man. Aginor is killed trying to take in the power at the Eye. He destroys himself. Then Rand goes on to take out Ba'alzamon. The spoilers you were talking about are in a different book where Moiriane blasts a Forsaken. This is not part of the Eye of the World. I hope this was just a slip of the mind and the tongue, not a true review of the final showdown at the end of the EotW.

IMO The "homeless Rand Matt" subplot it's one of the most important ones in the series. For me the subplot showed the fact that anyone can be a darklfriend. And it just doesn't just show it to the reader, it shows it to Rand (Matt forgets that whole journey) which has an effect on Rand's development and in his eventual paranoia.

It's also very telling about their characters, how Rand and Mat are loyal to one another and have each other's backs, no matter what happens. Even when one is weakened and seems like a liability, the other protects and cares for him, in spite of their paranoia-conducive experiences and the dagger eating away at Mat's mind.

I never felt as if they were in any real danger. Especially after they had their first battle against the dark lord's minions and all escaped without a scratch, including the three farm boys with minimal sword fighting training. The final confrontation was kind of exciting, but then in hindsight it was just "two magic guys fight, the one with more magic wins." In the entire book, I thought the Whitecloaks were the most threatening and scary. And interesting.

Finished Eye for the 1st time last month. Oddly enough, Moiraine struck me as the beam of kindness in the dark world that WoT is set in, where even the "good" characters are quite often selfish and mean. In contrast to the reputation the Aes Sedai hold, you can see Moiraine cares about the kids: she wishes them well, it's not only because of what they represent on the bigger spectrum for the Wheel. She has tremendous empathy and a gentle way towards the Fielders and people in general, all behind that intimidating and sometimes stern figure (you can see that with Nynaeve especially). She is, for me, a kind and gentle figure who sometimes struggles on account of "caring too much".

Im on dragon reborn now, but Moiraine, in the eye of the world especially, has so much weight and presence in the page you feel like when she says something you should listen very carefully bc she is the wizard trope here but done really well. My first impression on the first book was general enjoyment, but the constant mistrust and hiding of dreams for her began to wear slightly tiring after everything she had done for them. I've come back after finishing EotW! I was planning to pick up the series eventually, but I left this video pre-spoilers and dove straight into the audiobook and e-book! (Thank you so much for convincing me to do this, by the way, if you see this!!) Being totally new to this series and having just read the first book, to me Moiraine seems like she's had an insane amount of responsibility thrust upon her (or maybe has seen the need for someone to accept this responsibility and stepped the feck up), but she's competent and badass and knew more or less what she was getting into, and now she's having to make decisions she doesn't want to have to make, and being yelled at by people who couldn't possibly understand. Honestly, after working for many years in customer service management I relate HARD to my interpretation of Moiraine lmao. I did start to question her motives when we saw homeless Mat and Rand, because I hadn't understood until then what a 'dark friend' was. Once I realized they're just normal looking people and they could be anyone, I sort of questioned her because so many other characters were uneasy and untrusting with her. Pretty quickly though I fell back to my previous understanding. Can't wait to binge the series along with these videos!! My first time ever hearing Michael and Kate narrate was with Breach of Peace, and I was ecstatic to see they narrate WoT because I had fallen in love with their narration of Khlid, Sam and Chapman!! So, so hyped for everything here!!

I will have to disagree, only because The Hobbit was a first book, or even Fellowship for a series overall. The first book is very, very derivative and gets what feels like soft-retcons later to sort out its inconsistencies. It is not a bad start and once you go beyond the first book it gets its own legs to stand on, but it is not the best first book I have read. I always thought of the Green Man as something the Ogier brought about by singing to the trees.. or maybe he was a result of someone in the Age of Legends dabbling in plant dna, somehow making a sentient tree that could move around. And he only survived all that intervening time because they needed someone to protect the Eye..

Pretty sure it's canon that the Green Man (Someshta) is the last of his race of constructs (the Nym) made by AoL Aes Sedai with the help of Ogier singing, with the purpose of enhancing crops to sustain the world population with their Songs of Growing.

When the first Lord of the Rings movie came out I as a child enjoyed it so much I wanted to continue to story. My dad ordered The Two Towers from Amazon which at the time was primarily a book store, it came bundled with the Eye of the World. I hated reading The Two Towers and ended up reading The Eye of the World. The series has become an ever-present comfort in my life, and took me from barely reading 100 pages in a week to destroying 2000 page novels on the regular. It really changed everything for me. Always glad to hear about how other folks stumbled on the series.

As I finished my first read-through of EOTW last month, I can say that Moiraine strikes me as a character that would go against the orders to do something she believes to be the right decision. She seems like a free-spirit kind of character within the Aes Sedai order(council ?), and some of her interaction with Lan reinforce that in the book because you see that Lan knows she doesn't always follow through with the Sedai "code", but he will still follow her to the edges of the world. (I love Lan ♥)

Oohh WoT has been on my TBR list for soo long and I started it finally after hearing you go on and on about how this is the best fantasy series and I have to say I agree with you What I loved about the book is how Jordan describes everything so well.. It's the setting and the details.. You feel like you are right there He doesn't force the characters to be perfect. They are what they are. I loved the fact that rand and mat and Perrin are so resistant to leave the only place they've known forever. They do not want to go on an adventure. They are forced to leave their homes and are therefore stubborn and resistant to the person driving them to do so- Morraine Ahhh Morraine.. The way her character was introduced was so subtle. You know she's someone important but to what extent. She's strong and that's saying something. She's someone who can manage to make you sound like a fool even when you know that what you said is right and just. She's got her own agendas and she's a no nonsense person. She hides stuff. She likes to hold all her cards close to her heart and not show her hand. She will only tell you what she deems necessary. I'm only on the 5th book yet and loving every second of it. I cannot cannot wait to finish the series and reread it again 🤭😂

My recommendation is to audiobook while you are working, and have it at a much faster rate than the 1x speed you start with. As fast as you can comfortably keep up with, and perhaps a notch or two slower just to be sure. I ended up finishing the entire 14 book series in about the span of a month my first go round. But then again, I have a work schedule, and more specifically, job duties that allowed me to take the most advantage of it for like 6 to 8 hours every day. And then when I got drawn into the plot... Well, a lot of time out of work too :)

Wow I'm finally on board! I gave this series a try a few years ago when I was first starting to read again, but the super different names of people and places that don't exist outside of real life combined with what felt like excruciatingly slow pace, I felt overwhelmed. So I put the book down and wasn't in a hurry to ever pick it up again... I heard what an amazing community WoT is and wanted to be a part of it so I gave it another shot. Man, I was so worried because I still thought the first book boring, but thankfully I can listen to audiovooks at work so I jumped into the great hunt and things started to click for me. I've got a third of the dragon reborn left and am loving mats perspective and I can't wait to see how other things play out. Thank you so much for introducing me to this amazing series! I am so glad you're doing this!! I started Wheel of Time at the beginning of this year thanks to discovering your channel, and I always go back and watch your old recap and review videos after I finish each one to help me process and remember what happened. I'm excited to have these new videos to add to the routine! Unfortunately I'm reading at a pace of about one book per month (reading an easier/shorter book between each one to make sure I don't burn myself out or start rushing), so after a while I won't be able to watch them right away. I'm on book 5 right now and still going strong! Funny about the Prologue, I didn't realize that was the general consensus about it! I LOVED the prologue; between that and the cozy, homey descriptions of Emond's Field from Egwene's point of view that made me feel like I live there, I was hooked. I thought those two chapters gave you the best of both worlds- the immersion you feel with the characters and culture and then this HUGE, epic story of magic and heroes and massive worldchanging battles. I love those two chapters and I haven't been disappointed since by the tone that was set. As far as Moiraine, I knew she was going to be one of my favorite characters right from the start. I love her description with her blue robes and how much she stood out- like an invader from the wilder outside world coming to simple Emond's Field. Then I just loved her progression even just in Eye of the World from this serious mage with the weight of the world on her shoulders who will stop at nothing to save the world...and she never really loses that, but there's also this layer of her being a tired mother hen to these villagers that are so difficult to keep alive sometimes. It's hilarious to think about. I'm constantly wavering back and forth between if she actually cares about the main characters or if they're really just tools for her to save the world. I can't wait to experience the rest of her story.

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose above the KZfaq channel named Daniel Greene. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the Wheel of Time. But it was *a* beginning.

No hate but how is this a read a-long if you’ve completely read the book before telling your audience? I can’t exactly read along side of you if you’ve already read the book and now talking about it with spoilers.
