Politics aside/ honestly this is the perfect truck for daily driver for most folks who like trucks and have a family! Hauling bikes/sports gear/kids and camping trips. With occasional trips to HD/Lowes/ ace for landscaping/home projects. Especially those that live in the states with cheap home electric! Have the lariat ER. It’s the perfect daily driver for commutes (5k or driving 200 miles daily and no way if you haul and drive long distances this is not for you. But honestly gents, how many of us “really” need a full size truck with 400+ miles and 12k tow for 90% of our driving? I work in utilities and have driven F150s/ram mostly and last personal truck was Tacoma. EV is the best truck I’ve ever driven. Just back from 2’ of snow in Yosemite, truck drove like a dream on the ice, the 50/50 weight distribution was amazing on crappy stock tires 😅 Great content thanks for the open/honest opinion, way too many vid skew all roses/ all crap! you got a new sub!

One thing you always notice with the F-150 Lightning is how easy it is to drive. You just don’t get that gas engine fatigue. Even if you have a V8 or diesel, the ease of effort with an electric truck is just day and night compared to a combustion engine powered truck. Combine that with the practicality of an F-150 platform , the Lightning is a joy to drive, and I’m not talking about racing I mean just as a daily driver. Get the Pro or Flash trim if the XLT or Lariat is too much. They all have the same electric motor, just different battery capacity.

But I like going to gas stations and giving them my money. Why would I want a truck that runs for a fraction of the cost and never needs oil changes? 😮

Waiting on the 2025 Lightnings now. Hoping for a little better range, faster charging, and the built in NACS port.

I've had my 2023 Lariat extended range since October 2023, so ~8 months. It was $60k after incentives (federal tax credit, state tax credit, and another $7,500 incentive from Ford.) I routinely drive it 150 miles each way downstate for taking care of my AirBNB, I've hauled drywall, lumber, insulation, and more for a basement finishing project I'm doing myself, and I took it on an 850 mile holiday trip (1700 miles round trip) between Chicago and New York. I have absolutely loved it.

I got my '23 Lightning Pro for 38k OTD price and fricken love it! I only pay .066$ kWh when charging at home. Insurance premiums are 70$ a month. This thing basically pays for itself.

Shhh! You're supposed to complain about range when towing 10,000 lbs in -40 weather, you know, because 90% of truck owners are always faced with such things

Fords now have access to the Tesla Supercharger network so really charging on a road trip will be much easier now. Now that the dealers are not adding their stupid "market price adjustments" on them they can be a good deal depending on how you use the truck.

And regarding charging infrastructure, ford has access to Tesla superchargers v3/v4 - still awkward given charge port location but it makes it really much better charging experience !

What about the difference in insurance pricing, EV vs ICE F150? I like the fuel savings of EV, but the range and charging, when not at home, is inconvenient.

I came in at $134 per month. I can charge it using solar as well. And in normal weather, it will DC charge 15-80% in 40 mins or so. Got the XLT trim for $55k

@@GFY11 Cool beans. I had Tesla put 10.4 kW solar on my roof and 2 Powerwalls in my garage. I fuel my EV from that, as well as run my house. My last electric bill was -$10.73. Just.Do.The.Math.

eastern Canada. Full charge 380km displayed. Couldn't make a return from a 200km trip. Had to stop 40km short search for a charger sit there for 40 minutes. That was nice just to gain 60km range. This thing isn't leaving the city any more

The lighting can’t go far and you can’t be off road. If you do you need put a solar panel on the back of your truck. Also if I have $80k I would get the raptor, instead get this junk.

I have a 2023 Lightning Lariat ER that is my daily driver and does occasionally truck stuff. Best vehicle I have ever owned. A solar panel would have no usable effect on range - this truck already has plenty of range, anyway. I will never buy another ICE vehicle.

😂 Folks are so threatened by EV. Get used to it because the battery tech is moving by leaps ans bounds. When these have a 400 mile range, 15 min 10-80% recharge, and no cold climate effects, it's over for gasoline and diesel. Sorry to deprive you of trips to the gas station to fork over $100 a week and the oil changes, but it is what it is.

For someone to use the phrase “never makes sense”, should be indication enough they are injecting politics into a consumer product discussion. As a family vehicle it’s a beast! Where else are you going to get skid plates, a massive front trunk, massive amounts of exportable power, and like 12 outlets standard. People have become so brainwashed by politics. I literally heard an electrician convincing some not to go electric the other day. When the industry’s growth could literally be a money printer for their business. We live in strange times.
