140 sitting still, not even moving anything, on the grid before the race starts... On a sim means either this guy is horrifically unhealthy, on an ungodly amount of caffeine or both... Or it's calibration is way out

@@Sweaty__Sheep have you sim raced before? It's called nerves man, not necessarily unhealthy. Note his heart rate goes down during the race. But before the start its pretty intense.

Good race. Welcome to F1. I raced 4 today and was taken out twice by the same guy. The fixed you can do on softs, the chicane you can brake much later, and an adjustment of the throttle curve is recommended. Find the right BB and if you avoid the chaos you usually benefit. Welcome to the team lol

Will try a lot more short shifting when using any gear below 5th and try to stay out of 1st. Just get use to the car and you'll take corners faster, you're a good driver. Great race, love the content!

The thing I’m struggling with the most is judging closing distance because the brakes are so strong. Brake a tenth of a second later than the guy you’re racing and it’s game over.

Interesting seeing F1 on a different sim other than Codemasters version. I noticed the faster guys were staying in higher gears, such as the hairpin. They were staying in 3rd to maximise traction whereas you were going down into 1st. Staying in the higher gears and being more aggressive on the kerbs is how the quick guys drive on the F1 game, so a similar approach here. The only time I go below 3rd gear is if I need a wee bit more rotation and engine breaking then short shift up prior to accelerating.

Hey Bro, you can make 2 secs a lap if you choose 1 turning-in point. You're steering towards the corner, and then turning in. Braking point, brake straight, find your turn in point then just try to improve an extra second or 2 a lap! Love ya vids man!!

Joined a practice session after getting halfway through this video to see how it felt to drive, and if there was ever a car that demanded and rewarded commitment, this is the one! Might take it for a drive at some point this season in the fixed series since I’m new to the car and generally favour shorter races too, and there’s still strategy to be bad with tyre choice!

The vertical strut of the halo restricts straight ahead vision more than I previously realised. It's OK if the guy ahead is running your pace I guess, but if he suddenly slowed for some reason your reaction time would definitely be hampered.

Thats where the Semi-transparent option for the Halo strut would actually be more realistic to what you see in reality, compared to in game.

Can’t believe the halo bar is not ghosting. Because we have binocular vision the post will never look solid, and what a pain in the ass to drive the game that way. GT7 fortunately will ghost the center bar, so kudos to you for driving that way.

@@boostedmedia I don't know your driving style but in the higher splits they all use the soft compound. You just need to be more careful the last few laps. But the time you save in the first half is huge.

@@boostedmedia Pretty much all the sprint races are fine with softs. Only if there is a combination of high degredation track & high temp does the wear become a big enough issue for mediums over the Fixed Sprint distance. An example might be Barcelona at the height of summer. During the full-length iRacing Grand Prix Tour races this weekend lots of people are changing to softs with as many as 30 laps to go & not having too many issues.

I know you're going for realism, but without the ability for your eyes to look past the halo centre post it is incredible how much vision it blocks. For example, I wonder if at least one near-miss, where someone braked more than you expected going in to T1, might have been a few milliseconds less of a surprise with the ability to see their car through the transparent halo. It might also help with picking up braking markers earlier (as in, being able to see them further out before they come into view on the sides of the post).

Honestly I’m not finding it to be that much of a hindrance. But you’re right it could certainly have an impact. Let’s see how I go once I can actually drive the car competently. 😂

@@boostedmedia How do you run your FFB for F1? Also with your "usual" 12 to 15nm? I recently got the CSL DD - and as much as I love it I feel the 8nm isn't enough holding power for sustained high speed turns if you don't want to run into clipping

Hi Will & Tom, Unrelated question but I saw in a previous clip (can't remember which one) there was an anodised 70mm pcd spacer you were using on a wheel to accommodate the horn poking out the backside. Could you tell me who supplies those please? Cheers legends always great times on Boosted! 💖😊

Yep it outputs telemetry so should support most as they add support for it themselves.

You've got the awareness Will. Go into VRS and just watch the track guide by Martin Kronke. Your lap times will fall. From what I can see is you can extend your brake markers and you need to use all the track. This car is all about steering angle and throttle. Appart from that, was a really good drive 👌

Hey will I just got my fanatec dd2 and formula v2.5 wheel with the quick release but I can’t get the wheel completely into the dd2 base. There is a lot of resistance. I’ve tried to grease the dd2 and quick release and still nothing is working. Please help. Anyone?

This video was incredible. I have a question that’s unrelated but I’ve been having trouble finding answers. I have a CSL DD 8nm, and until today I was using the McLaren GT3 wheel. I switched to my new Formula V2.5 X wheel and the wheel is incredibly difficult to turn. I didn’t have this issue in ACC with the McLaren wheel, but I did in AC. The best way to describe it is like I’m driving without power steering. I’m on Xbox, I have gain set to 50% and dynamic damping 20%, but even at 50 it’s too hard at times. With the McLaren wheel my gain was 70 and DD 50. Any lower and im losing feedback. I’m sure there’s a setting that needs to be adjusted to fix this, if you could help me out that would be great, thanks!

Your new Formula v2.5 is slightly smaller than the McLaren GT3. Makes it slightly harder to turn like a shorter ratchet or wrench🤙🏻

@Boosted Media Will, I've watched your brake input, and you never got over 60% of brake pressure, this is where you're losing the most time, you have 40% of braking performance to unlock.

I’m certainly still finding the limit on this car, but the overlay is based on calibrated 100% force in iracing. Cars without ABS will typically lock up before reaching anywhere near 100% force.

@@boostedmedia I'm don't have much experience driving iRacing sadly, so I don't know how that works, but having driven single seaters irl, the coaches always tell you to stomp on the brake 100%, and they scold you if the telemetry says you didn't. It's a momentary input up to 100%, and immediately easing out as you approach the corner.

@@boostedmedia I dont play iracing, but in sims like assetto or automobilista I can get to the 100% braking (for a short period ofc) on f1 cars, you are definitely losing in the brakes

Amazing, what monitor do you use? They are mounted on a trak racer rig i guess? For the driving part you can take all your corners one Gear higher, the power is so strong that you'll still got a lot of traction and it will be better for the car control under acceleration :)

Hi Will or whomever will help. Been looking for a CSL DD but can't find one for under a grand, I dont have that kind of money. I thought they were affordable and half that price. I want to get in and have fun but my G27 is just annoying now. Suggestions?

Nice racing, unfortunate on that last lap... You are losing almost half a second on each chicane, which would put you up with the top on lap times (easy 1:13.8)

Yeah still a lot of learning to do in this car. Others seem to bump over the kerbs but I’m finding it just makes me spin so I Mimi’s be doing something wrong. Time to watch some tutorials!
