i was doin security at silverstone last year and was in the pit lane standing directly behind the sls amg saftey car.. what a noise it made & its super stylish

Having driven this car, I can honestly say that the steering is absolute nirvana. So direct and perfectly weighted. (not really a surprise)

That Merc has the worlds best sounding exhaust note. When its released in a race, and u hear that rumble above the high pitch engines of the F1 cars, i always think. WOW i wish the F1 cars sounded like that merc.

Wow! All the way around Luffield! I think 2011 will be a good seasonfor Vettel again, but I can see Mark and the McLarens pushing him all the way. I think the 107% Rule is a good idea, because Hispania are pretty much useless, and get in the way. The DRS sounds like something that should have been around for a lot longer, KERS I think needs stricter rules though because Red Bull seem to have it only for the start. No F-Duct is safer, The Blown diffuser is genius,and Petrov's podium was great! :D

The SLS AMG according to Jeremy Clarkson is a pain to control around corners. So I commend that guy for his talents.

Points to the driver for making that look as casual as could be.

even when he is drifting he is using all the track and the perfect exit of the corner. god damn these f1 drivers.

hey race experts! a serious question: is it correct if i say that sometimes its faster to drift throu a corner than going properly and not loosing traction? espesially if the car doesent have high tech traction controll and has understeer. thanks if you answer. drivers in WRC are doing it...

This is one of the fastest cars on earth! I'd love to see the time it nails on the Top Gear track. Up against an F1 car though it's like my mom's Volvo....

i think i know what happened, at the start of filming they were unsure if to record it or enjoy it with their own eyes in the moment, they eventually committed to the recording, but we witnessed the struggle

believe it or not, this is what a 30% slip angle looks like, and ius the absolute limit for tires, other than that, grip will violently decrease

@youluvana so it all depends on the amount of grip available of the track , combined with the sort of rubber used and the characteristics of a car's chassis ...Racecars on tarmac will be setup on having the most downforce in the corners , thus massive griplevels ..drifting those cars will end up in almost an immediate stand-still or losing so much downforce they'll spin out . Look at f1 cars ..major amounts of grip/downforce ..one spin and it's uncontrolable .

What year was this? because I've been to the last 4 Grand Prix and I always sit at the SRC stand which is right there.

The safety cars are going at amazing speeds and the drivers usually max out all the potential they can out of the car. But still they look ridicilously slow compared to F1 cars...

Now if only the F1 cars would do the same, like back in the old days (pre/post skirts)
