I’d say a steamer would help form the carpet in place. Worth a try.

Looks great. If the carpet is really bugging you, get some double sided carpet tape and use where you need it. It holds strong and unlike glue, you can take the carpet out without ruining it if you ever need to. If you do that , give the carpet a couple of days (preferably warm days) to let it settle before putting the tape on. On a side note, I recently found your channel and have enjoyed watching it. As an older guy that has been working on one project or another for the last 30 years, it's cool to see a younger generation taking an interest in older vehicles and actually repairing them. Too many "car enthusiast" today, young and old, just want to bolt on aftermarket stuff and would be at a loss if they ever stumbled into a junkyard. Keep up the good work.

The viewer that said use steam was spot on and while it is still warm and damp put weight on it for a couple of days. On the dash if you want to make the crack less noticeable use some black RTF and wipe it off except where it fills the crack. RTF will stay flexible even with the hot sun. If you want to use some spray adhesive someplace use it on the gas tank between the seats to cover up the gas tank to a point halfway behind the seats. Looks good keep rolling.

Keep up the good work! U should do a fiberglass repair on ur dash and add filler sand and paint it will be like new. Use glue on the carpet after the summer or towards the end so it can take the wrinkles out the summer will help

Use a small amount of resin use a box cutter knife blade and fill it in like body filler and then what you could do get body filler put a little bit on the dash sand smooth then what you could do is bedline it they have in rattle cans then spray it with that 4 easy better-looking Dash just an idea

I was the same way with my 66' Chevelle SS but once the seats, trim, shifter & boot go in the carpet will settle ! Plus you are looking from 6" to a foot away.... once it's done it will be 3 feet plus so you will never notice ! Give it a couple of months it will fit perfect ✌😎 Good luck... it's not a Chevy but you can't have everything 😉 Sweet truck man !

To repair your dash have you thought about using an automotive vynal and use heat stable contact adhesive to cover over the brittle original dash? You could also try using a steamer to relax the new carpet to help it lay flat.

Seeing how your going for the whole ford thing with mustang seats, there is a company called pony parts who makes a center console for those seats that would look perfect in your truck. It's called the Classic Humphugger Console for all 1965-1973 Coupe and Fastback Mustangs without a Factory Console.

to fix that crack real easy just use some black RTV. take a old tooth brush and gently clean it out.spread it out thin but just over filling it. let it set up some and whip it flush with your bare finger. then take the brush and tap it brush down and it will look like the pattern grain.after a day or two even you will forget about it. and the RTV will not expand and fall out and keep it glued together..i fixed 3 large cracks on my 89 lincoln

hey craig what do you think of the black dash pad covers on npd I have a 1971 f100 ranger the vin is blank on color I think that's because its tu-tone highland green and white it has been repainted a darker green but the original color shows through I think highland was a special color not standard and its got green interior like how yours did, its got the green dash pad that's all cracked up a black seat and green and black door panels I would like to get door panels like yours. so do you think its worth it to get the 126 dollar cover to hide the green nasty dash or should I just buy a whole new black one for 500?

James Cooper is right. If the cracked dash pad is that annoying, then recover it. It’s an inexpensive fix, and you’ll find it educational and fulfilling that you did it yourself, rather than go out and spend $400 on something that you’ll eventually not really notice anymore, or sell later on.
