Thanks for watching. Be warned this is not for the faint of heart. While doable by a novice you want to do lots of research before attempting this. Please also confirm your truck has the necessary hardware to activate adaptive cruise.
All thanks go to the fine folks at
www.f150lightn...
Please read through the forum thread above before attempting. All forscan values can be found there as well.
The forscan numbers are all located on the first post of the thread except one. In order to get the truck to recognize the CCM module you must enter one additional value. Go to page 8 of the thread and see the post by “BeefLightning”. Enter that value to the IPMA module and your truck should recognize the CCM module if everything is hooked up correctly.
Parts needed with ford part number
Radar x1 ML3Z-9E731-G
Mounting bolt x3. W720714S450B
Wiring harness x1. ML3Z-15K867-NA
Steering wheel buttons x1. ML3Z-9C888-D
Tools needed: laptop, usb to obd2 plug, forscan app, trim tool, 10, 13 and 21mm socket, t20 and t45 torx bits, needle nose pliers, assorted wrenches. Hopefully that’s everything.

Quick correction. In the video I seemed to imply if your truck is missing the wires this install is not possible. That’s untrue, however it becomes much more difficult. You will have to run new wiring. Others have done it on both the lightning forums and the ice f150 forums.

This was so very helpful on how to remove the front bumper. I hit a deer in my '22 lariat edition and it wiped out the "shutters" ( I would have called them baffles) along with some of the trim. Removing the front bumper was counterintuitive and I wouldn't have been able to do it without your video. Thank you so much for taking the time to make and post this video!!

I have a 2023 F150 Lightning in Lariat with extended range, so it already includes the Blue Cruise (with adaptive cruise control) but I still find your videos like this interesting and cool. Good job, and thanks for sharing.

I did this with my XLT 311A. I tried answering a couple of your questions on this forum post the community lucky to have this video out there now. Thanks for letting people see what they're getting Into also if you set adaptive cruise control on and click the "lane keeping" button it's actually lane centering as long as you have lane markings on both sides and "hold" the wheel lol

Hey thanks. For whatever reason I glossed over that lane centering portion when I read the title of the post. Nice surprise.

Finally got around to doing this upgrade. I’ve got Pro that is near identical to you build. Thanks to your video (and the forum link for the forscan bit) it’s working like a charm. It really does also add lane centering!

You are fearless. I love my 2023 Pro, but the one option I wish I could add is passive entry (just on driver's side).
@KurtsRPMGarage

I definitely got my eye on that one too. I installed the keypad as a sort of in between solution but it’s not quite the same. My old truck had it and I didn’t realize how much I liked it until it was gone.

here's been my work-around for 'keyless' entry from DAY ONE with my own PRO: put the key fob in the center console and LEAVE IT THERE.. Your phone/FordPassApp will allow you entry with the push of a button, anytime, from anywhere - and distance is NOT a concern. I even loaded the FordPassApp on my wife's phone so that, just in the case I could not get my own app/phone to work, she could give it a go. It's worked AWESOME for 20,000 miles all over the southeast - I've never had any issue, and don't have to carry the key fob with me. No door code needed.

@ontheroadwithralph1530 Жыл бұрын
@@turnersinsurance8656 I'm pleased that has worked for you and, if I lived in a developed area with good cell service, I'd be tempted to try it. But my two homes are 1) in the Mojave Desert and 2) in very rural Arkansas. My travels, almost on a daily basis, take me to locations with poor-to-nonexistent cellular service. I all it takes is for either the iPhone or the Lightning to lose connectivity and I'd be SOL. Also, if anyone were to break into the truck, one of the first places they are going to ransack is the center console. If I hid the fob there - or wherever - I've literally just handed them the keys to the Lightning. I think I will wait until Kurt and others determine if passive entry can be retrofitted to the Pro.

So for those of you curious I have a totally bare bones truck (aside from extended range and max tow) I was able to do this by making my own wires from the IPMA connector under the drivers side dash, to the cruise control module then do all the steps in forscan.

So I have the bare bones pro lightning my bumper does not have sensors. Do I need to order a different bumper with sensors?
@KurtsRPMGarage

Nope. Those sensors are strictly for parking. If you don’t have the tow technology package though there is a bit more work you have to do. Go to the link in the video description for the f150lightningforums thread on the subject. There is some additional wiring that has to be run.

I thought the clock spring had to be replaced (plus you get free heated steering wheel)? I love the Frunk speaker removal, can you do door chimes next? Oh and blinker clicking?
@KurtsRPMGarage
@KurtsRPMGarage Жыл бұрын
Haha I’ll look into it. For this job no clock spring change required. From what I have seen no one has been able to crack the heated steering wheel just yet. Seems like it needs a new clock spring, a new 12v power wire run straight from the battery and who knows what else. Hopefully someone figures it out.

So I contacted my dealer regarding this to see if they would add this to my vehicle. They said my vehicle is not retrofitted with the accessories required to convert it into adaptive basically saying that I don't have the sensor on top of the rear view mirror to be able to facilitate this. Do y'all think they're bullshitting just so they don't have to do it? Or is there a way to check if I have the proper equipment for adaptive cruise control

@@KurtsRPMGarageso in regards to removing the airbag to swap switches. At first you talked about unhooking the battery and letting the vehicle sit for 30 seconds to a minute, and then when you went to remove the airbag you said 30 minutes to an hour. Also do you have to turn the truck back on to move the steering wheel 180 degrees? Thanks.
@KurtsRPMGarage
@KurtsRPMGarage 5 ай бұрын
Someone corrected me in a different comment. You don't have to let the truck sit more than a couple minutes for the airbag. I was just being overly cautious. Also yes you have to turn the truck on to turn the steering wheel. Otherwise it locks you out after a couple degrees. @@michaelt.9372
