Everytime I hear "babyface or heel is situational" come out of Dave's mouth, I cringe. If the idea was to do a "will he or wont he" angle with Page and the Elite, then dont have the Elite be the ones to bring him back. Build the ambiguity till Wembley and have the Elite screw Swerve out of the title and have Hangman join. Otherwise you have a guy acting as a heel associated with heels. This isnt "situational", Dave. He's a heel.

Its not that hard to get Bryan. Not all heels have to get along. Hangman is definitely a heel even he isnt buddy buddy with the Bucks

What AEW needs to keep in mind is, you lose everything faster than you get it back- they just need to improve their story telling, keep it consistent, and people will come back- just like when Sami Zayne joined the Bloodline and that story brought more and more people back over the course of two years. Slow and steady wins the race, basically.

It‘s not that hard to understand heel/face dynamics in wrestling. Man, the wrestling community sometimes make it look like it’s some kind of unsolved mystery. Hangman is obviously a heel right now. Case closed.

It’s his best role and how he should have behaved as champion but something feels a little off. Like it was just done for shock value sake. Yeah it’s course correction but they could have done this as soon as he came back. AEW struggle a lot with telling stories and turning guys.

Why did people like this Dynamite? Was it because it had 7 "banger matches" on the show? Nope. It was because of a Britt vs Mercedes promo segment, a surprise return of a star who has been gone for months, and a show ending angle involving the company's biggest star. It's almost like drama matters in pro wrestling.

Pro wrestling is at its absolute BEST, when it is clear who the Heroes and Villains are. It makes it simpler for the crowd to engage the wrestlers accordingly, and then the storylines/feuds more naturally fall into place. This “situational” nonsense that Meltzer keeps spewing out is one of the BIG reasons why people have been tuning out of AEW. It’s unclear what anybody’s alliances or motivations are on a week to week basis 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don’t think Garcia ever actually accepted the Wembley match though, did he? Will came down and kinda stole the spotlight. Then Garcia was so excited about Will’s offer in that very moment that he immediately lost focus on MJF’s offer and seemingly overlooked it. Then MJF had that “you ungrateful ass motherfucker” look. That’s at least how I remember it, but I usually just have this shit on in the background while getting all my night time errands done…if I’m being honest. I wish I’d have actually paid attention now though because last night was the first genuinely entertaining and must see Dynamite for me in a VERY long time. AEW rarely has a single interesting story in my opinion. Last night there were several to actually get excited about.

Hangman literally said it to Matt when he grabbed him by his neck. “I’m not a child anymore. I’m not your puppet anymore.” I think Hangman goes on to finally get his long-awaited win over Swerve. Hangman becomes the heel AEW World champion and will be the leader of the Elite, calling the shots just like Omega & Cody used to.

Maybe if Daniel Garcia wasn't a jobber, the dude's last single win on Dynamite before he got a couple squash wins was over a year and a half ago, more people would actually care that MidJF brutalized him. A story that could've been told in about 6 months was done in two weeks. Fucking stupid

AEWs booking between Ospreay, MJF and Garcia has been interesting. I genuinely thought that with Ospreays 'I don't need the Callis family' spiel they had planted the seeds for Fletcher being the one to turn on Ospreay/screwing him out of the World Title at the PPV. That didn't happen. Then I thought that maybe Fletcher would turn on Ospreay this week instead and cost him the International Title against Garcia. That didn't happen either. They planted seeds for MJF v Garcia at Wembley. Maybe that match will happen there - but then again, it was Ospreay who ran in to make the save (eventually) after Garcias beat down. So maybe its gonna be Ospreay v MJF at Wembley? That's certainly a bigger match on paper than MJF v Garcia. I never expected MJF to go full heel this week against Garcia either. I really can't work out if my expectations are being subverted cleverly by AEW at the moment or if its wild booking. Maybe with All In and All Out so close together we'll get both MJF matches in 1 week? Who knows. I'm here for it though, genuinely not a clue where they're heading and what will happen next week.

the hangman angle was so immediately bad. first off he's an awful, unconvincing actor, but second it's already obvious he's not meant to really be a heel. putting him against the bucks means hes supposed to be a "cool heel" style babyface. hangman will never be over and i wish they'd stop trying. he's not a badass, he's a big softie. and before anyone responds, you don't get a guy over as a heel by putting him against Jeff Jarrett, one of the most legendary heels in wrestling history who is CURRENTLY ALSO A HEEL.
