F800GS Engine Noise

Sounding rattly at startup, though Ive been told thats common with the bike as the CCT gets lubed up.
Purrs warmly on the second startup, and sounds warm while idling though it starts to get a bit lumpy.
Towards the end the bike sounds very rough. No discernible engine knocking, and the sound quality is much worse standing next to the bike as opposed to listening to it online.
After its been ridden for a while the sound becomes a persistent rasping. This was after the CCT was replaced.

I'm having the same issue on a F800GS Adventure. Sound was normal for the 1st 3,000km then a persistant rough ticking noise kicked in. Did you get this problem fixed? One BMW mechanic wanted to crack open the engine to find the problem while another BMW mechanic says it's normal for the F800. The 800GSA is my 3rd F800 and the other 2 never had this noise..

No. However I found out my problem with the rough ticking noise was the cam chain tensioner. It's not an actual mechanical problem according to BMW, more of just an annoyance. I had it replaced under warranty anyway and problem solved.

@@geonho1997 Yes, same noise. Turned out to be the cam chain tensioner which was replaced under warranty and prob solved, seems to be an issue with the F800's..

the sound comes from the cam chain. Needs to be replaced

For me It’s the clutch noise, nothing to worry about, absolutely normal.

Someone else answered the question you asked, but in spanish. He says that the soud you hear the very first time you start the bike and dissapears right away it is very normal. BUT if the loud sound persists you have a camshaft chain problem. I have a 2013 F800gs with 13,700 miles on it and sounds in the same way. First second loudly and right away, normal. When I used to drive my Honda 250xr with camshaft chain problem, the loud sound you can hear in the video was exactly the same (even though xr250 is a single cylinder engine).

What was the problem at the end? My bike is making a louder noise from about 4500rpm and up.

hola! con esa irregularidad en la cadena de distribución existe riesgos para viajes de largas distancias?? Un viejo mecánico me indicó que podia regular el tensor de la cadena de distribución para que no exista el sonido, que opinas? Saludos

Se estira la cadena de distribucion , no es el tensor
