Rats, I didn't know you had to keep a line of sight to your drone all the times. Thanks for getting the fog valleys with the drone. It is so beautiful. I agree Ken, you need to keep your drone flying license because you do such a good job filming with it! Very nice sunrise at the end! Thanks for this Ken!

The videos of fog in the valleys are spectacular. I also loved the timelapse of the sunrise. That's one I hadn't thought about doing. I believe the FAA regulation on fog is that you must stay 2,000 ft horizontally and 500 ft vertically from it. Pretty cool that you're up in elevation that youare able to look down on it! We just had our first snowfall here in Michigan on Sunday. I have the video on my channel. Because of the cloud cover, it looks drab in comparison to your videos. You're welcome to check mine out, though. Keep showing us your beautiful scenery. Love it!

The FAA is trying to protect Americans. You can work within the parameters and still capture wonderful scenery. One of my cousins was flying away in his company plane. He was the pilot. Someone in the wedding party thought it would be "fun" to phone the airport tower and say that the pilot had just left a wedding reception. Well, we drove out to the tower. We were still wearing our rented Tuxedos. The tower saw us on the ground and wanted to talk to us. (The cousin was being held on the ground and prevented from takeoff.) We drove away in a hurry. By the way, the wedding reception served no alcohol. This was the day before cell phones etc. . . . The cousin is still married some 50 years later. 😊

Hard to see in fog; interesting accent occassionally. I like to see clearly 🕶️ 🤓. I think fog belongs up in the sky as clouds. Interesting video element.

The FAA defines clouds in AC-006B. A cloud is a visible aggregate of minute water droplets and/or ice particles in the atmosphere above the Earth’s surface. Fog differs from cloud only in that the base of fog is at the Earth’s surface while clouds are above the surface. At the end of the day, no matter how you define "fog", you still have the basic restriction that requires drone flight to occur in VFR conditions, with a minimum of 3sm visibility and clearances from the clouds of 500 below, 1000 feet above, and 2000 feet horizontally. Flying in fog, while it might produce cool images, is clearly a violation of that and every Part 107 licensed pilot should already know that. Likewise, I don't see how a person could fly OVER fog since the minimum VFR clearance over clouds is 1,000 feet. Kudos to Ken for avoiding flight through fog once he learned it was prohibited. The quickest way to ruin things for all drone users is to disregard the rules and trash our reputation. Thanks, Ken, for doing the right thing.

I suspect the FAA saying "stay out of the fog' falls under visual flight rules. (VFR in their book) I'd bet they don't want anyone flying a drone in the dark either.

FAA falls under the office of the Secretary of Transportation currently held by Pete Buttigieg and was appointed by Biden. Much like the ATF these people seem to just make rules to appease corporate sponsors and we have no say in who they are or what they do.

Ken’s has an added advantage he can hear his area. As a pilot inside your airplane (outside) nothing. And he can see via the camera a larger view. All said he’s good, safe, and sound 😊. As you can see from his post. Thanks Ken.

You could add some nice strobe lights to be able to see it in the sky.... works well for fog and great at night. They are small and rechargeable. On the other hand you may want to be careful of the high moisture content fog brings. Most drones can fly in the rain but can be damaged by the moisture (dew) going through the drones internal cooling
