Very first playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3 on the PS5. Let the thirsting begin.
In this first part of my Baldur's Gate 3 playthrough, I'm going in completely blind. I invite you to join me as we explore the game world and see what surprises await us. Will our party survive the dangers of Baldur's Gate 3? Find out in this video!
About Baldur's Gate 3:
Baldur's Gate 3 is a role-playing video game with a single-player and cooperative multiplayer element. Players can create one or more characters and form a party along with a number of pre-generated characters to explore the game's story. Optionally, players are able to take one of their characters and team up online with other players to form a party. Like previous games in the Baldur's Gate series, Baldur's Gate 3 has turn-based combat, similar to Larian's earlier games Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin II; all combat is based on the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition rules

Karlach, Wyll, and Gale all have heavy story beats in this section. There's also a very lucrative reward for bringing one of them.

Most definitely Wyll. Remember you have to do his quest. Wyll has very great input here!

Depends a bit on who the romantic interest is, but as others said, Wyll, Karlach, and Gale have story connections here. Combat-wise, I have found Lae'zel useful due to her multiple attacks per turn and misty step, and I think I've brought her every playthrough. I believe I've brought Wyll every time as well.

Wyll. If you ever plan on bringing him along, now is the time :). If you are doubtful of his performance in fights, just equip Potent Robe (that robe you used to wear on your main character) on him and go to town with Eldritch Blast. That Robe is basically tailor made for him as it adds charisma damage to cantrips - Wyll has highest charisma stat and Eldritch Blast (warlock specific cantrip) is best offensive cantrip in the game. Also, not as important, but another companion you might want to bring for story related reasons is Gale, and he is also very useful in upcoming fight if you use his lightning spells in combination with create water (any of your druids can cast create water, lightning spells do increased damage on wet targets). And finally, super glad you got Jaheira. She's probably my favourite companion and I'm pretty sure you'll love her too if you decide to bring her along later on (not necessarily in this next section, but just generally later on in the game). P.S. I know you bring Astarion everywhere and that's cool and understandable. But he has probably least story connection to the next part. So if you need to make room, he is kinda obvious one to replace.

WOW KIM! At 53:30, thats a very rare cutscene you unlocked! Most players never see that. You only got that #5 option about his wife since you actually discovered and read his diary. It made it much easier for Kethrick to stand down. Pretty awesome to see how different your playthrough is compared to mines.

Yeah! Jaheira is a permanent companion now! Theres also 1 more permanent companion you can recruit in Act 3 if you find them.

I fully expected the episode to stop precisely where you ended it. The worst part about going down that hole is deciding who to bring with you, especially with the game giving you yet another awesome companion right before you head in. Also, if you want to use both Jaheira and Halsin in your party later on but don't want to roll with 3 druids, remember that you can have your companions talk to Withers in camp and change their class. I made Jaheira a monk in my current playthrough and she's been kicking ass. 😤

Jaheira was half warrior half druid back in the original 2 games from 20 years ago, so could multiclass her that way if you are going for RP flavor.

@@Smrt927 In 5e that just means she's less effective at both Lae'zel's and Halsin's jobs, sadly. I went with Monk, because I hadn't played with one yet and wanted her to be a class that fits in with the Harpers. It was between that and College of Swords Bard.

That's a great idea, why didn't I think of that?. I have been hesitant to change classes for the OG group, but I will definitely now change Jaheira. I have not been using her a lot because I don't need another druid. Just started act 3 on my first playthrough, so I guess I'll still have occasion to use her.

@@caseyhastings9219 I'm well familiar with 5e, hence i said RP flavor. It's not like Kim optimizes her party to begin with not plays on a difficulty where it would matter.

Good call on getting Jaheira to join you. I let her stay and command the Harpers my first playthrough... very bad idea. The AI takes over her controls in the battle and suicide charges her to her death, it's virtually impossible to keep her from getting herself killed without direct control over her. I never even knew she could become a companion later as a result of her stupidity.

Jaheira was super suicidal on my last run and ran into a clump of them and died as soon as they went before I could do anything about it. Time before that she stayed out and cast spells. I have no idea why the AI makes her do it one way or the other at different times.

@@Smrt927 Your guess is as good as mine. I wouldn't even mind her getting herself killed as she's not even that useful in the fight except that the game counts her as an npc so you can't even target her with a revivify. If she dies there she dies for good.

It was so great to see this video. You did an AWESOME job in the throneroom fight. My first time I had everyone stuck in the doorway and it was much worse than you did, great work! I really do love the ice attacks and how the enemies fall, it's very satisfying, especially if you have plenty of ranged attacks yourself haha. Also I'm so glad you got Jaheira, yay! I love her so much, I'm glad you're taking her with you. As someone else said this is the area you've been waiting for to bring Wyll - though of course your party is always totally up to you! I'm interested and excited to see where it all goes!

I have a hard time deciding who to bring with me to the battle here. Jaheira, obviously. But there's reasons to bring almost everyone else too. Halsin has as much history with Thorm and the lands he cursed as Jaheira. Shadowheart still has to save Aylin to talk with her. Gale needs to know what's going on for Mystra (but kinda screw Mystra, though). You still haven't found Wyll's father or Mizora's asset, so he has compelling reasons to go. Astarion, Lae'zel, and Karlach aren't really connected to the plot here. But you really like always having Astarion (and you make really excellent use of him in combat). Take another long rest, then take the plunge! I'm trying to play the game again myself.

Karlach's connected to the plot here, actually, but you have to remember her early conversations and then connect the dots to a certain someone who has been corresponding to Ketheric. It's hard to pick up on a first playthrough, but the clues are there.

@@caseyhastings9219, yes, but that's a fairly distant connection comparatively. Since that character is not actually in this part of the story, I don't particularly feel like she's as immediate to the story as the others I mentioned.

Baldurs Gate 3 is a very long game with thousands of endings. This is Part 51. She will probably finish around Part 100. Shes about halfway through now.

@@bebemax95 oh is she in act 2 or 3. I played the game until act 2, but I haven’t played since January cuz I’ve been preoccupied with other stuff but I’m planning to get back into it.

@Ghostrobo1011 She's in Act 2, but she will be in Act 3 in a couple more videos. Act 3 has the most content out of any act and knowing Kim she will probably try to do as much of it as possible.
