A short video I put together while taking my Factory Five MK4 Cobra out of storage / starting up after 8 months on jack stands. I also wanted to see my DIY paint job in the harsh daylight and i'm happy with the results :)

You car with out question is the best looking replica I have seen. Simple understated,not to much chrome,I wouldn’t change a thing. So sick! Your vids are excellent wish You had done even more video of the actual nut and bolt build simply because I enjoy watching your down to earth brilliant videos. Your cost evaluation video is the best no bull realistic “how much it cost” video out there. Inspiring brilliant. Fantastic job. I think it looks great with out the emblems. The stance and the paint job,superb. It’s my dream to build one of these beautiful cars,I want mine to look and sound exactly like yours, the stance is amazing.

Is this the original 1K paint job featured in you other video? It looks fantastic. A friend of mine is about to spray his car at home in 1K - any tips? I have been told it isnt as tough as 2K, but its a little friendlier, chemicals-wise, to use in a home garage.
@TacoJoe3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kevin - I used lacquer paint (not sure that even qualifies as 1K?)- it definitely isn't as durable as the urethane paints, but so far its holding up great. Best part is if it starts looking dull, getting scratched up - and - no fundamental body issues are showing through, you can scuff the paint and spray a few new coats right on top -haha :) I think if you do your research and ask around, I'm sure you can get a decent paint job from 1k- you only sacrifice some durability and for most show cars, it doesn't matter anyway because its usually garaged-a weekend cruiser. Thanks for the comment and good luck with the paint job!

Without trying to pry and be rude, besides a ton of time how much have you invested to get to this point? Also great job it’s beautiful.

No you are good- that is obviously an important question to have answered when you consider buying a kit -- I'm right around $27-29k total (base kit + parts) but if you are savy w/craiglist-ebay i think you could build for less.

Could you give me the Info for rims and tires, front and rear sizes and where to buy it. Thank you. The car is really nice!
@TacoJoe5 жыл бұрын
Thanks FB - in the rear are 295/50-15 and 235/60-15 in the front. Brand: Cooper Cobras. I got them at discount tire. As for the wheels - 15" are from Factory Five racing - check out their website/catalog and you'll find them there - thanks for the comment!

Joe, I see you added the spinner and lug nut cap... where might one find that assembly? I like that it hides the lugs.

How tall are you? I'm 6'2". I'm heading up to build school this September, and I'm hoping to buy my kit in November, but I'm terrified that I will be too tall to fit.
@TacoJoe5 жыл бұрын
Hey Josh - I am 6’1” and I fit well in the car - not a Cadillac, but not uncomfortable either. I just left the seat loose and sat in it / moved it around until it was comfortable then bolted it down. I think you’ll be ok - check the FFR website too- they have a faq section for tall guys
@JoshuaJohnson-ve7ty5 жыл бұрын
@@TacoJoe Thanks so much. That puts my mind at ease. Do you have the big and tall seats, or just the standard roadster seats? Also, the paint job is incredible. I would like to potentially paint mine to save money, but have no experience what so ever. Any other tips that you haven't put in your lessons learned video? Thanks so much for all your help.
@TacoJoe5 жыл бұрын
i have the regular roadster seats that come with the kit. If it helps put your mind at ease, look for a local cobra club and i'm sure a member would let you sit in theirs - try it out (that's what i did). Thanks for the kinds words regarding the paint job - my number one advise here is: take your time! I chose lacquer because everything i read said it was really easy to lay down and it was stupid proof because you thin it so much and wetsand (good for a beginner). That turned out to very true - but - it is no where near as durable as a modern paint / clear coat (more susceptible to road chips scratches). It works for me though because my car is only a weekend cruiser / show car

ive never looked at this way but if your a tall person you look like a big dork driving it (thats what one person stated on another youtube video) not me. your head sticks up higher then the windshield and you look like your in a very fast miniature car. definitely not a good look if your tall or a basketball player lol............i love the car and luckily im short so it would be a perfect fit for me...ill take them all! lol
