I watched the movie and enjoyed the acting and the story. I was lucky in life and found my "Charlie" who became like a second son to my parents and I a 4th son to his parents. That was more than 50 years ago and while we lost our parents and most of our siblings, we are still together. We are still in love after all this time. I wish everyone, straight or gay could have a soulmate that loves them forever.

This movie was truly a work of art. I wish I had this when I was younger, I dealt with a similar situation back when my father was alive. My mother didn't interfere that much but I feel like she knew the truth and my father never wanted to admit it. I really resonate with James and I'm ecstatic that the kids of this generation have pieces of media like this in their lives; which I never had. It's really important. Thank you for making this film for the sake of everyone.

Michael Grant is absolutely perfect as James: heartbreakingly sad, honestly and intellectually questioning, so torn among his many responsibilities, buoyantly happy as things begin to resolve. Josh Green was great but needed a bigger part, and Tom Wopat did a great job depicting a dad who wasn’t really sure how to love his son until the end when he said for the 3rd or 4th time “your mother would be proud of you” and finally added “I am, too.” I wish we could have seen how their lives and relationships progress…

This movie is a "silent" movie. No shouting... No slapping of face. But in its silence, you can clearly hear the emotional struggle and the pain of making a decision. In the end, love survives. The father's acceptance of his son's decision searching for his true love and freedom clearly manifests how strongly love his son. The movie's silence echoes loudy deep inside my heart... 1:15:40 This scene owns my heart. Richard looks at James's photo with Charlie first then subsequently the one with his mom. He examined how his son looked like with the people he was in the picture with and he realized one thing, he looks the same. He wears the same smile as if he was taking a photo with the same person. He was happy. When he came with that realization he knew what he had to do, accept him and let him be his own person. It's the subtlety that gives more to me. Thank you for uploading this gem, I'm so glad I found it. I needed a cry and this did me good. ❤️

DEEPLY moving, with an achingly beautiful performance by Michael Grant. In the subtlest of mannerisms and expressions he conveys so much emotion and pain. Very true how real love changes your spirit and life. My beloved boyfriend who took such loving care of me with his soul so sadly and suddenly passed away around 6 years ago. The love born between us was a reality no one else could touch or know or be a part of...our love created a spiritual love inside us that made everything else disappear. I still hold that love of ours in my soul and always will. I don't know if God will let me know love again with another wonderful man...but if new love never comes to me then I am still so blessed and happy and hold in my heart the love my boyfriend and me created together. ...I wish you the best in finding the right man...you're both waiting to find each other at just the right time. ...Blessings.

This is one of the greats, a story where there’s no malice and everyone is trying to do the right thing, but what everyone sees as the best path is different in everyone else’s eyes. This movie is about that struggle to live on what you believe is your best path forward without trampling on the people who love you but can’t see eye to eye. This is about not understanding why each character chose the path they did (because you may see it as wrong or stupid) but accepting their decision. Something we need more of on all sides when confronted with someone who thinks different from you

I could relate to this movie a lot. The internal struggle, the expectations of rejection. the feeling of worthlessness, the failed attempts to go straight. By the time the protagonist was able to control his own life, he was already old. The most growing up here was done by the dad, when it was almost too late. My own parents struggled, but accepted me. Same with my brothers and sisters. For me, this movie was pretty accurate. Hard as it is to be gay, it's just as hard for the family of a gay person. This story got it pretty good. I even went over to the piano and played Chopin for a while when it was done.

There’s only one word used to describe this film and that is beautiful the acting and just the way in general that this film is presented is just beautiful heartwarming and just overall breathtaking there is no extra drama that was added for no reason and there’s no extra stuff it’s not like so unbelievable that it would never happen in real life this is what a lot of kids and adults struggle with around the world this is one of the best films I think I’ve ever seen.

How beautiful it is when parents trust and support their children, even if they don't understand what's going on. Trust is enough for children to move on with life and just be themselves… A beautiful movie that really touched me:(. 13.Dec.2022

At last we can see a father embracing his son !!! Everything is so formal in the american culture that seeing a demonstration of love and care between father x son is amazing ! Beautiful story, marvelous film, excelent actors ! Congrats from so far, JAL, Brazil, South America.

My god. Just finished the film. It freakin' made me cry! How many hundreds of thousands of people have suffered over the last 50+ years like these characters. I'm certainly one of them. I have a similar story and in my 52 years have met countless folks who suffered similarly. Change society by changing yourself. Respect human beings regardless of how different from yourself you assume they are.

Yeah I watched this movie around 3 years ago... And now I'm watching it again... The vibes still same as before .. the life of young people named James who tries to figure out himself... Throughout his life, James finds that he loves his father but his father tries to make him to be straight person... His circumstances aren't easy yet he has to overcome it... I love the way James finds his way... Life is too short... Charlie cherishes James' life .... What a wonderful love story ❤️👍

WOW What an AMAZING Movie. This movie brings up memories from my High school Years in the late 70's. My Friend and I having a relationship. However my Very Russian Orthodox and conservative parents did nearly the same to me that James' Parents did to him! I honestly loved him and he loved me. We did whatever we could to be together. Unfortunately he moved far away. Those feelings do not go away, and the anger the first time when James jacks Charley up against the wall Was SO familiar! And how they snuck off together into the barn... Perfect!

What a beautiful and meaningful film! It's not only about the homosexuality, it's about the traditional and newing things. Dad just wanted James to study at the community college so he could run their farm. Then found a wife to start his life that his father wanted at first. This is traditional. People' s attitude to homosexuality is disagreeing. traditional too. For James, a young teenager, fell in love a boy and wanted to be a pianist out of the farm, this is newing. I am glad the have a happy ending no matter what they faced before. Time is going on and everything can be changed and just follow your heart. your family will love you and support you all the time.

I shared this film to a couple of friends because I think they will like it also. James was portrayed very well; his father did a convincing supporting role. How unfortunate that growing up gay in 2021 could still be a struggle in the United States of America.

What an excellent film and true to form in what its like being gay, trying to fit in and feeling very unfulfilled. Then to find a welcoming place by either hiding or in the wilderness. I'm 60 years old and its hard living a double life, just to fit in enough to survive. I once lived in New Mexico, in a very small town where the nearest gay bar was 100 miles away one way. Can you imagine driving that far, just to meet people who understood and accepted you and then driving 100 miles back home. Love is love, its unconditional and it doesn't about anything else and everyone deserves it.
