Finally, bro, finally...:) Yeah, FNM in all it`s funky-metal glory...without the metal..hahah. But no, seriously, this song actually attracted a lot of attention here in Europe when it came out in `95 mostly with it`s surprisingly clear pop sound, without any underground premises you would expect from a huge alternative metal band as they were back then...So, the shocking thing was, actually , the purity of it`s sound, not any expected guitar noise or anything else. :)) But, they were known as a funky-metal band anyway, so ..the glass is a half full - there you go.:) Great display of singing abilities as well - there`s a unexpected Patton`s baritone throughout a whole song, with that wonderful "evidence"- falsetto part..:) Yo, have you noticed the keyboard strokes on that chorus, as the famous Soul II Soul did in their songs?:)) Yeah, that`s a nice stolen funky trick, like the real homage, settled in the right place... ;) Also, it took me some time, but i`ve figure it out: the exciting bass line on that chorus is exactly the same as in the George Benson`s disco-hit "Give Me The Night".:))) Yeah, still, that`s Mike Patton who sings his own stuff in here, so - this is the new song anyway.:) BTW, did you know that FNM kicked out the guitarist of their previous albums and brought the new one to play on this album?:) And by the various amount of bravely controlled and played - guitar colors - one could already guess who could that be...Not a great mystery: it was Trey Spruance from Mr.Bungle, the guitar-sound wizard by himself.:)) So, this song has these pop-blues-funky guitar colors, the others may not have that mixture - but quite harder, or even lighter, anyway, it was knowledge of guitar mastery from Mr .B, attributed directly to this album....:) You will see for yourself when you choose another song from the record - everyone has a different dominant genre.:) Ok, we`ll hope to that.:) My salute to you, greetings to Roxxane, I hope she`s a little better now, Jay, sorry to ask, is she fine? She reads this? Say hello to her, please, man...Ciao! :)

Just give me a sign if you did, don`t wanna sound pretentious, but it could bring much clarity to the meaning of that song, as well as the way Mr.B. build up their songs.:) no pun intended, not in a gymnastic way, more like a spiritual and mental way.:) G, i spent some time (accidentally) in there, would`ve be a shame not to pass through it, again - it would be not much of a gymnastic effort, simply a literal one..which rise the curiosity to a new level, yet, safe one enough..;) Tnx, man, and much obliged! :)

Fun Fact: Faith No More's original guitarist left before the recording of this album. Mike Patton enlisted the help of Mr Bungle's guitarist Trey Spruance to record the album, so he's responsible for the nice guitar work on this song. (He is not the guitarist in the video though. The guitarist in the video is Dean Menta who toured with them to support the album.) Next up, try "Just A Man" from the same album. It's very gospel music inspired and shows off Mike's vocals pretty well.
@neilpatrickhairless

Dean Menta played guitar on this song on the album as well and I think Roddy may have contributed some guitar parts as he was learning to play guitar during this time for a side project band of his. I think that is part of the reason why you see Roddy just lounging around doing next to nothing in the video.

Also, you said something that is important - Chuck Mosley served a great purpose as the frontman for Faith No More during his years but as soon as Mike became their frontman, this band went from being a great underground band to an extremely great mainstrean band with a plethora of obvious and not so obvious influences. Billy and Roddy are the blood and soul of the band but hiring Mike Patton was the greatest business decision they ever made. To think that Courtney Love was almost the replacement for Chuck Mosely (RIP)

The entire 5th album, King for a Day... Fool for a Lifetime is great check into other tracks from it. The bass and drums are featured pretty dominatly on this album, partly due to some drama behind the scenes. This album was their first album without lead guitarist Jim Martin. Jim was fired before this album started production. The keyboardist Roddy Bottom was gone during most of the recording, both physically and mentally, as he was struggling from the recent death of his father and of the death of his close friend Kurt Cobain from Nirvana. His depression and stress from both events led him to a struggle with heroin during this time.

Breaking the jazz out, huh. Damn, i didn't they had this much diversity. Have you heard an entire album yet? Have they done this since they started (having different styles every album) or have they changed it up album to album? Im interested to find this out. I might blind purchase FNM vinyls if its gonna be a potpourri. Ryan Adams was all over the style map when he left Whiskeytown, who was on the forefront of the alt country boom of the mid-late 90s. Good stuff homie. You keep pickin bangers.

King For A Day, Fool For A Lifetime is probably their most diverse number of styles. Rock, jazz ,punk and metal all on one album. Tbh all their album are different from each other. Angel Dust sounds like it could've been released yesterday even though it's almost 30 years old. That album influenced so many subsequent bands. In fact Kerrang magazine voted Angel Dust the most influential rock album of all time. The Real Thing is the album put them In the spotlight though. The title track is an absolute masterpiece.
