Here's a quote that I love about Mike Patton: "He's not so much a singer as he is an innovator of the manipulation of the human voice." He sings in an insane 6 octaves, and can do anything from rapping, beatboxing, scatting, clean AND unclean (distorted) singing, and I've even heard him do stuff like opera and obscure techniques like throat singing.

Mike Patton is the Vocalist of Faith No More, there are 5 musicians in total. Mikes vocals are versatile, original, powerful and chameleonic but that only scratches the surface. A great song to listen to is Land of Sunshine as that really showcases his operatic and classical training it also sets the mood for the whole Angel Dust album.

"He's singing in three or four voices!" HA! You have NO IDEA! I've owned this album since day one. This song has been on my workout playlist for years. I have never once read the lyrics. @anti-ethniccleansing4652 жыл бұрын
I think watching the lyrics as you listen ruins it. I like imagining my own if I can’t understand what is being sung. And sometimes it’s just supposed to be about the _SOUND_ words make - not what they mean (as Kurt Cobain liked to do so often in so many of his songs as well), but watching the words will distract you, making you try to find a meaning to them (not that there isn’t great meaning in his lyrics here, just like I love the meaning of Maynard’s lyrics from Tool/A Perfect Circle). It’s cool to know what the real lyrics are, but I so like my own version that I have made up and I have sung to this song for so many years as well! 😁

Give thankhs for posting. Love to see your appreciation of music. One of my favorite songs & albums of any genre. Bought this on my high school graduation day in June ‘92 (Lakewood, Nj) at The Freehold Raceway Mall in Freehold, NJ. Rolled up to graduation in my Mitsubishi Eclipse killin’ this! There was a group of us that broke the mold and listened to every genre of music during those times. Side note (if no one mentioned it yet) Mike Patton does all the vocal vibrations and noises for the main Creature in I am Legend with Will Smith.

There aren’t many musicians/singers like Mike Patton. I too have followed his career with interest, knowing that you’re gonna get something special every time. He turns dust into gold. Mike hasn’t been the best recently and hope he finds the strength to make more and more music for our ears for years to come. Thanks J AKA J for all your reactions. Great channel 👊🏼✌🏼

I am So EXCITED you are doing Faith No More!!!! I can’t wait for you to check out more of their music. Try the following tracks! The Real Thing Smaller and Smaller Stripsearch Cone of Shame Yes indeed that is the same singer. Faith No More is know for how eclectic they are. The singer(Mike Patton) is ranked the #1 singer in all popular recorded music in terms of vocal range. He outbeat the former #1 holder(Axel Rose) by an octave. He also beat out Freddie Mercury and Mariah Carey.

Patton is a mad genius, he has done so many genres and ranges of music it boggles the mind. I would very HIGHLY recommend an obscure album of his that even some of his fans are not aware of. The comments will be full of the usual songs and bands from Patton, so I'm going to throw this one over to you. Caution, this is NSFW, and it is hilarious, yet damn good musically at the same time, 'Lovage Music To Make Love To Your Old Lady By': kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jpyddKyDnpPal30.html

Literally one of my favorite songs of all time and I love watching the heads of people explode when the verse goes to the chorus on these kinds of "reaction" videos. Glad he liked it.
@Torthrodhel2 жыл бұрын
I remember hearing this on a TV chart show when I was little. I was into songwriting even back then so I knew some stuff, and I fell instantly in love with the prechorus bridge with its sliding 2nd note and its sliding 7th-8th tease. To a young autistic girl who hardly understood anything going on around her, some things in life took on a kind of mysterious taboo like I'd ask myself "am I supposed to know this exists?" A lot of music fell into that category and catching this song was one of those.

I'm just echoing the other comments at this point when I suggest The Real Thing. I was 15 when that album was released in 90, and the videos they released on MTV did not prepare me for what I consider their magnum opus. I had to literally sit down and close my eyes in order to create enough space in my brain to process the music and lyrics (and still do to this day when I listen to it). I was obsessed with FNM after that, and was given the greatest birthday present that year when I was given concert tickets to see them open for Billy Idol. It was my first big arena show, and still ranks in my top 5.
