Classical Playz they fake service dogs by putting on a service dog collar(?i forgot what they’re called) when they aren’t actually a service dog. It’s like bringing a normal dog to the mall and pretending it’s a service dog although the dog isn’t “trained” like one. Short explanation: people fake service dogs for attention or they wanna bring them everywhere they go

My dog isn't nearly as well trained as Dakota but at least I can control her if it gets out of hand. That dude didn't do jack shit and I'm willing to bet he let go of the leash on his own or just didn't care enough to keep a grip. My dog stays physically tethered to me with a "hands free" leash. It can be inconvenient at times but is one of the many kinds of leashes I use for the variety of things I need to do with my service dog. Personally I'd like to teach her off leash support some day but that will be far into the future after she perfects a few more tasks. I've seen alot of things on KZfaq recently that I realized would be a major help but it will take time to add all these to her repoitire. After all, she has her paws full with just a few tasks. She helps with so many different aspects that idk how a single dog can do them all and she's actively learning more too. I know most service dogs are for disabilities you can't see but I think we all saw his disability: Assholeism. His dog: fake, probably; untainted, to the max. My dog: real and task oriented; trained exceptionally for everyday activities and places, medium for oddities in everyday activities and places, potentially unprepared for new activities and places (such as an airport of which she's never been to any before, eek my anxiety is high in anticipation for that trip).

Maryetta Graves This is actually kinda tricky because an EMOTIONAL support dog does not actually need to be trained any specific way. Nearly any domestic pet qualifies for ESA registration, including dogs, cats, birds, mice, rabbits, snakes, ferrets, pigs, and many more. Most important, your pet does NOT have to be trained to perform a task. That's because the very presence of your pet helps your emotional/mental disability. So this means that persons dog could have very well been an EMOTIONAL support service dog. 🤷‍♀️ just saying

Told you when she sensed something, and calmed you down. I know your friend was telling you everything is OK, but so was Dakota, physically not verbally. You could tell by the look on the dogs face. Recently my dog attacked my 5 year old neighbor. She is the sweetest girl, and I cried really hard that day because I thought that the health department would take her away from me. She’s not aggressive at all, but she had little training as a pup, because we live in a place where you don’t meet 100 new people every week. Just goes to show that even if your dog is sweet, if it’s poorly trained DO NOT put it in a situation where there are many people/animals because not everyone knows how sweet your pup is.

@@karinarevenko5006 His dog is wearing a vest which clearly states Service Dog on the side of it, implying it is being passed off as one. Unfortunately the video isn't clear enough to show the words but they both verbally state what's written on the side of the vest multiple times. It is clearly just a regular dog in its behaviour. Service dogs are trained to listen to commands, not stray off, do tasks specific to the individual owner, and ignore distractions, among other things. This dog quickly lost focus on the woman he had started to follow and made a beeline for Dakota, had to be held and pulled away, began barking at them. Not to mention he would not have needed to pin the dog down in the first clip showing this dog if it were an actual service animal (the slow recap shows a firm grip to the dogs head, not any form of petting).

To people saying “it could have been a service dog in training “ no, because service dogs “in training” have to have that on their vest. They also have to know basic commands such as stay, sit, listen..ect. That dog I can guarantee you isn’t a service dog, nor is a dog in training. Service dogs start training as PUPPIES and if they show aggression towards other dogs like that dog did, then they are kicked from the program. That dog was definitely showing aggressive behavior.

I agree.... People that train real service dogs typically tell the owners of the establishment that the dog is in fact in training. They also might wear a that says in training. Lastly, a real trainer of a real service dog would have understood the lady's reaction and not said stop over reacting and all the other stuff he said. He would probably apologized and said this dognis in training. So therefore... I say that dog was not in training not a real service dog and the man was not a trainer!.

let me clear this up for you, since you obviously have no clue as to what you are saying. A service dog OR service dog in training do NOT have to be vested. Also, most service dogs do not start training unitl between 18mo and 2yrs of age. Now, before you respond with yet another "know it all" ignorant statement, this is what I do for a living. I will definitely agree that that animal in the video is not a service dog, however, ALL service dogs have to begin their training somewhere. I can recall at least 3 animals Ive trained that had rough starts to socialization in their public access training. All thus far have turned out to be excellent working animals.

@@SwiggitySwagDopeInTheBag if you read my comment I used the word "typically" and "might". I did not say it was definitive. However in this particular case, I still dont think it was in training because I true trainer would have more control over the dog. Heck, I would have had more control and I am not a trainer.. additionally, the owner would or at least should have said something like " sorry he is in training" in anstrsd of being the asswipe he was.

I understand but not everyone with PTSD acts the same way. Some have it really bad and act different in different situations. Someone could have it but not as bad and act totally different. For example, I have a PTSD from being attacked by a dog at the age of four. But even after it attacked me I stilled love the dog and other dogs. I was still kinda scared one would attack me but I pushed through with it. I have more reasons that cause PTSD that make me act differently depending on the situation I’m in.🙂 and that is the same with everyone. Everyone acts different in different situations because we are all different people.🙃

@Marcy Davis Even service dogs training in public have extensive training at home/with professionals before public training. If there is a "service dog" in public that acts like that, then they are for sure not a service dog. A service dog in training is still extremely well behaved when taken out in public for real life training. Source: I have a friend who is a therapy dog trainer and I assist her sometimes.

Gillian Gross I use a service dog and agree that the dog in the green vest was wrong. But the dog in the red vest earlier in the video’s handler did not do anything other than act surprised and showed some interest in the other dog. It’s owner had the dog under control and did not deserve the tirade they got.

Devon Gardner Those are fake registries, anyone with a real owner trained service dog should know this and should know what the federal laws are. We do not need to show proof of disability or certification of our service dogs because that would be a violation of our civil rights. I should not have to provide paperwork to enter a business plain and simple. Unless every other person in the U.S.A. needs to show ID.

NobodyCares There’s a big difference between a service animal and a support animal. A service animal requires classes and certificates of completion for their training. A support animal just needs basic discipline and his HUMAN caregiver requires a doctor (therapist) approval for the support animal documents that cost $150 a piece to legalise the dog for support care. Support animals aren’t “fake” service animals. They are entirely different types

PREACH PREACH PREACH. After this incident it took Dakota months to be okay enough to work around other dogs. She couldn’t focus when a large pet dog was barking at her in public. Still to this day if she’s caught off guard by a large dog while she’s working she gets startled and feels like she has to watch her back. She is not reactive, we have worked with other service dogs and she’s fine. It’s just when they bark like the one in the video where she gets started and takes a second to refocus on me. She never had this problem before.

The problem is, there is no laws that have to make you prove your dog is a service dog in the US. In other parts of the world you have to take your dog for testing before you can even think about service work, but here in the US anyone can go online and order a fake badge. Then when they go into a store you can only ask to questions, which can easily be lied about. So even if the dog is misbehaving....etc they cant ask. Now they have changed a few laws in last few years that says if a service dog is pooping, peeing, lots of barking and over all misbehaving to a point it could endanger the public the manager may ask them to leave.

I can understand how that's a problem, in the country I live in, those kind of thing are very strict, you need an official accreditation to be allowed to use or train a service dog. There's an official training school for service dogs dedicated to blind persons in my town so we often see trainers familiarizing the dogs with crowds. Still there's such a huge gap of behaviour between a trained dog and a simple pet that it should be doable for security in the malls to be able to distinguish, maybe with a few lessons from a professional.

Well many people are fearful of asking someone to leave with a service animal just it case it was a real service animal. Even through trained service animal would never do that. I train service dogs and all of them go through a huge process even before we start training. Many trainers are jumping on this boat wagon and doing it for money and not the dog or the handler, and never train the dog right.

I’ve been on the bus while this kind of thing happened. I self trained my dog and as soon as she was ready I took her on the bus. She was really good on the bus and alerted me everytime I needed to calm myself. After a few months of good experiences (apart from a few harmless fake dogs) a woman came of with a very excited pit mix. The bus driver asked to normal Qs and got the bogus answer, it was apparently a service dog. It then saw Maggie (my service dog) and lunged. The dog ripped her harness off her and then went for her again. I collapsed and had an attack. Maggie quickly recovered and later on top of me to soothe me. The bus service went out of their way to help me but I was shaking to much to respond. The woman was banned from the bus but never even apologized. She actually said it wasn’t that big a deal!! Her harness was in two pieces and I was on the floor!! And IT WASNT A BIG DEAL! I hate people like that!!

Gigi Mosa Nice try. Someone with PTSD would not think about small talk, because they would be having an attack. Also, why would you even TRY to lie about that? Service dogs (REAL ones) are trained for a long period of time, and therefore would be strictly trained to only pay attention to their owners. If the dog is in training, it is supposed to have confirmation on its vest. It is also illegal to have any pet off leash, and someone who has paid and own a service dog would know and obey that. "Nice people", as you mentioned, would not just walk away and ignore people. That dog was in no way trained.

@@soulechelon2643 I have Borderline Personality Disorder and/or CPTSD (health pros can't seem to decide). My daily experience is similar to hers in many ways, all I have sympathy, just to start with that. What I don't have is a dog, or anything else, to warn mw when my emotional shit is about to hit the fan. I have had to make due with psychological and emotional mediation skills such as CBT and mindfulness techniques etc. This isn't to make a direct comparison because no rational person would do that, everyone had differing factors that play into their issues and recovery/mediation efforts. I only mention my issues because through them and my efforts to deal with them- I have a key good idea of how much it sucks to live with that sort of disability, and I have more sympathy than it overtly seems like I do. However, at the same time, because of my personal experiences and beliefs, I also strongly believe in personal responsibility. It's not society's fault we're like this, it's not ours either to be clear, but it's OUR burden to bear and it's unfair to expect others to make exceptions to their basic understanding of human interaction to compensate for our shortcomings. It's a process, were all at different places in that journey, but the way this is framed is as though everyone is supposed to just Intuit the fact that we have issues, what those issues and triggers thereof are and chance their entire social expectation set, reframe experiences, and adjust responses accordingly. That just isn't reasonable. That's my only point and I'm pretty sure that was the core idea behind what that guy was saying.

Whether it was an In-training service dog or fake one, neither should be permitted or excused in any place. A service dog in training does NOT go into public places until the owners think the animal is trained enough to experience that level of service. This dog was clearly a fake because the owner did not leave when the dog clearly showed it was not ready to handle a mall, or another service dog, in the first clip. The owner DISRESPECTFULLY stayed in the mall and held the dog's head down so it wouldn't notice Dakota. Red flag right there! If it had been one In-training, the owner would have apologized the first time and left the mall to begin with.

They do go to public while in training. I got to witness service dogs being trained how to be in public. It was a group of owners and one person who guided the owners on giving commands for public places and would tell others who would distract the service dogs to stop and go away that way the owners wouldn't have to since they are learning also. It was quite a cool thing to witness. I ended up in the elevator with them leaving a parking structure so this is how I was able to witness all of this :)
