He romanticizes them) the men fighting her represent all the parts of him trying to fight off his problems and their slowly being taken out which is why he's being hurt, Eventually his problems take him over and snuff him out and I guess you could say fob are just the maintenance guys who come in to clean up the mess, she then closes the box which represents his problems and goes back into position to wait for the next unsuspecting person. And that's pretty much it. Or at least that's my interpretation.

You know what video is about? I think this fight between ballerina and those guys is like fight of throughts happening in his head. The ballerina is a epitome of his innocence and delicateness, sensitivity. And the men are his problems, who attack him through his life. At the beggining he is trying to destroy his innocence and fight with it, to be strong and deal with his problems (or be like insensitive to pain someone made him feel). But problems are coming again to fight with his soft feelings. Anyway, he is going through all problems (kicking them out). But this war left scars (blood and lesions). At the end (after she closed this box) is like he standing with a baseball bat, ready to fight again with some bad things have already happened to him after his last fight. sorry for my english if something is wrong but you know what i mean....

How I understand this song : He is a psycho (some would call him a monster, or a beast then), loving a beautiful girl for the first time (he isn't used to love, and thinks he took too much medicine at first). It's hurting him, killing him to be unable to love her. But when she loves him, it only lasts until she is feeling better and he's destroyed by all the filtered truth she keeps on saying. Afterwards she goes back to how she was before meeting him, only to trap another "psycho". For the video, the music box would be her appearance to everyone, looking simple yet perfect, while the ballet girl would be her true self. Opening the music box reveals her true self. The twelve men she beats up would be the truth the beats him with around the clock, until he's finally completely destroyed. She then closes the box, to hide her true self in the dark and lure another man. It's making her a black widow/mantis, trapping men only to hurt them in order to feel good. Quite deep.

In the beginning, you tend to think the ballerina is the American Beauty, and the boy is the American Psycho. But then you see she can kill with ease and without mercy. The men did try to hurt her, but then you see she "resets" the box and returns to her position, which implies she has done this many times before. The kid is killed by this "American Beauty" because he chose (like the other kids that most likely came before him) to not be an "American Psycho".

Concept theory of the video: Although the boy is American, he's seen as half psychotic (nod to the face paint) because he wants to destroy the idea of the perfect image of the American Dream (the ballerina) but his plan backfires. The American Beauty is too great of a thing that he cannot escape it, and as he hides from what he was trying to do, he pays the price. The gang members represent the real-life things that happen in America but the Beauty is able to fight them all off because she outweighs the ugly truth. The boy gets hurt as the truth is beaten. Fall Out Boy themselves are prisoners to the American Dream (hence the jumpsuits) and that's why they clean up the obvious mess, as if this were real-life celebrities ignoring social issues, and the boy is left alone. The song could be about fighting the power but failing to do so by being labeled and treated as you are. Can't believe I didn't realize this before. My other theory involved how Pete had mentioned that the album had some influence from the Ferguson protests. The boy is the true innocence of the one looked down upon (a criminal perhaps), and the ballerina is viewed as the perfection everyone would rather witness but actually has cruel intentions. And you can figure out the rest.

GUYS GUYS GUYS, THE MUSIC VIDEO IS ABOUT CHILD ABUSE. The woman, presumably the boy's mom, suffers from delusions. The ballerina music box thingy represents how on the outside, the family looks completely normal. The boy was going to seek help, effectively destroying the "perfect" family, symbolized by the sledgehammer. The woman, because of her delusions, thought that the boy was someone else that wanted to hurt them, (the gang people) and so she beat them up. However, as we observe in the video, the boy is injured, which supports that the woman has delusions. Fall out boy at the end, dragging the gang away, represents the child care system people (social services I think) taking the boy out of the abusive household.

The part where he is constantly being hurt is how he is being ruined by this relationship and at the end, it symbolises that he can't leave and it is slowly destroying him. This is my take on the video, at least.

Okay. Here is my take on this video (in case you were wondering what the actual fuck you just watched). The ballerina box is supposed to represent his problems. He opens it, as if to look at his problems properly to be able to smash them. After he opens the box (or looks into his problems) he realizes they are much bigger than he thought (the human ballerina appearing). He decides running away is his best option at that point. This is kind of like real life in the sense that you run away from your problems and deny them. Then a bunch of people show up in what I percieve to be his mind trying to eradicate the problems. They are the boy, which is why once they begin to attack or try to deal with the problems and get smacked away, he is hurt. I kind of even take it a step further and say the guys are his will and his problems are attacking his will to live and to be happy, which may cause him to self-harm (because his problems are killing his happiness). Anyway, his problems trump him and the band comes in to clear away the happiness that died. They're either manifestations of his problems, or they're people like teachers and friends who don't know how to deal with his problems and instead are similar to the problems in the way that they don't really care when his happiness is gone and may even aid in removing it. In the end, he is either dead in the literal sense, having committed suicide, or dead in the philisophical sense, having his happiness die (the latter being more likely). Then we see the ballerina close the box (capping his problems and making him think they are gone) because problems never truly go away, and he will come back to them one day and have to face the battle again. Anyway, just my take on it.

Here's my thoughts on its meaning, take it or leave it: The boy is the "American psycho" and the girl is the "American beauty." He obviously has had some sort of a relationship with her as the lyrics say, "All those dirty thoughts of me They were never yours to keep," "Altered boys, altered boys. We’re the things that love destroyed," and "Us, we were pity sex, nothing more and nothing less." These lyrics suggest that their relationship was fake, emotionally abusive, and it stole his innocence. This has drove him to the point of being psychotic. The video starts out with the boy attempting to smash the music box. The box is symbolic of his affections and feelings for her. The hammer is his vehicle for doing so (maybe hate, forgetfulness, etc.). He tries to destroy it but he can't bring himself to do it. It is a simple task that should easily be accomplished but he is being held back. She is ingrained in his mind and there is no way he can get her out. Now there's the scene with the gang surrounding the girl. This is just another analogy of how he is trying to forget everything she has been to him. Again, it should be easy for a mob to beat up a teenage girl, but they fail to do it just like his mind fails to erase the impact that she has made on him. He bleeds when they get hit, because they are a representation of his emotions and memories. The dog that flashes intermittently is representative of the rage and frustration that he has at himself for crushing on her in the first place. Finally, Fall Out Boy comes in at the end to clean up the dead men like how they provide emotional support to all of their fans who listen to them.
