What an absolute treat to watch - thank you. Sold my 1989 Bentley Turbo R and I still have my 97 Turbo R….these are just brilliant machines…you need to drive one of these beauties just once in your life. I drive mine everyday….nothing like it. Thank you for sharing. Kindly, Stephen

I have an 89 Turbo R. I know they have a spotty reputation with some people, but mine has been great. The biggest expense was 4 new Avon tires when I bought the car 6 years ago, and new air conditioning this past summer. One would not be able to drive without air conditioning in Miami in July, August and September. She is a real pleasure. Real luxury and lots of power.

There really is nothing like driving one of these cars. Yes, they are ridiculously large, yes they drink a lot of petrol, but you just need to get on an open road and drive it. Hell, even sitting in traffic isn't too bad in one of these, it's just so comfortable. I'm taking mine out for a little jaunt round the Peak District this afternoon.

I was lent a Bentley Arnage - £159k’s worth - many years ago for the day - with a full tank of fuel thankfully. I was a died in the wool Bentley cynic. At the end of the day I didn’t want to give it back, it felt tailor made just for me. God I loved that car..

Oh dear, this big british lump of goodness is very very cool - if i had the money to keep it running, i would surely buy one. Cars in my country (Denmark) is often between 3 and 10 times the price in the UK, and repair prices around 100-150 pound pr. hour.

To have bought this Bentley ‘ sight unseen, and without a prior inspiration’, is sticking your neck out a bit, however you still ended up with quite an excellent motor car. The last car I bought under more or less the same circumstances, that’s to say, no inspection, and sight unseen, was a 1989 Rolls Royce Silver Spirit ‘Mark One’ EFI ABS saloon........Did I come unstuck ?, No absolutely not, she is just wonderful. 🇬🇧👍.

This is an immensely gratifying "project", so enjoyable to follow. I love the commentary! I also love the Sonett, good that you got to try it out before the clutch gave up. Maybe another go when it's repaired? What a brilliant video, I shall save it :-)

@@ClassicsWorldUK Look forward to it! I had a Bentley T2 at the end of the 90's which belonged to the firm, but I had to pay for my own private petrol. I used it to travel between South Germany and England every few weeks and I admit to a very heavy right foot on the autobahn. The petrol bills were astonishing (I could have flown there and back nearly twice for the same price), so after 18 months, it had to go :-( But I relive the pleasure with your Turbo R - "endearing" - that's exactly the right word for the car.

Check out passanger side hub cover. its seems not to be properly installed. There are "hooks" on the inner side of the hub cover which have to slot into the rim, then you need to slightly press in the cover and sqeeze the o-ring a little. After that, the locking mechanism of the hub cover will drive you mad :D

There’s a Turbo R currently for sale at a classics & exotics dealer that’s 2 miles from me - too gorgeous, this example is in British Racing Green...I practically drool when I walk or drive by! -They also have one of my favorite cars of *all* time, the rare & beautiful Rolls Royce Camargue (a silver example!) -Regards from the states

@@byteme9718 Well the RR Camargue. I agree the Camargue is my fav RR of all time. Pininfarina design is art. -Far as I know there was *one* Bentley Camargue, must’ve been a special order don’t recall the details.

@@TzadikTheManic There was "officially" only one car however the factory built at least two that I know of. Of course there are many more that have been converted in later years. I've driven B199MDF on a number of occasions.

Electric car spaces with no EVs in sight. Hmmmmm. As a young couple we did a treasure hunt back in the day in our 12 year old Marina that was organised at work. We didn't win but clocked up more miles than anyone else due to continually getting lost, typical me!

Thanks Wayne! 😁 We'd rather not know, but we worked out the Turbo R was doing 14.6MPG, apparently the TVR was doing 9!

@@ClassicsWorldUK My '96 Turbo R has been averaging about 18.3, though that did include some motorway cruising. The later electronic fuel injection is supposedly a bit more fuel efficient as well.

@@ClassicsWorldUK I filled mine up this afternoon, been doing much less motorway driving in the last 100 miles where it ended up doing just over 12... dropped my average down to 17.2

I just painted one off these for a chap there shit tbh built horrendously nothing fits right everything is that'll do and fitting the bumpers is a game in its self
