Look, Snip Snip is programmed to do TWO things; repair injuries and harvest organs, and he's gonna do BOTH whenever he can.

In the first episode, Lucy mentions the trade with Vault 32 was triennial (once every third year). If they only open the door for trade every three years, it's possible that they only have contact with the other vaults when they're about to interact or when there's an emergency. And it looks like when shit went down two years ago the Overseer (who we see tied up in the chair) might have been incapacitated before he could call for help.

So, ghouls in Fallout: When a person is exposed to a very large amount of radiation, much higher/longer than the lethal amount, there's a very small chance that they gain a special mutation that regenerates their body faster than the radiation can kill them. Now, these ghouls are effectively immortal as long as they're not physically killed, with most major damage healing eventually even while the outer parts wither and rot. The problem is that eventually if the brain gets damaged, from trauma, further radiation exposure, or just age and genetic problems, the tissue that regenerates isn't the same. It's like replacing a hard drive, it doesn't restore the data. As a ghoul loses brain cells they eventually get replaced by a basic, primitive, damaged animal brain. The feral ones /all/ have ups like Martha. It makes them nerve-wracking to fight even when you aren't scared of them anymore just because of how fast and unpredictable they are. It makes sense the way they hurl themselves at you with all of their strength when you understand what's happened to them. Now as others have said the vials are new to the show, but I'm guessing that they prevent the brain from rewiring itself somehow, though that's just a theory. Also, Abi, your hair is amazing today.

it's seems easy to reattach a limb in this universe, at least for robots like Snip-Snip. So, if they're harvesting organs for resell, I would assume they also sell other body parts. So, a full hand would be more valuable than one with a missing finger.

As far as the show has told us so far, Lucy's mom was born in Vault 33 like her, and married her dad Hank when he moved over from 31, much like they expected her 'husband' Monty to do. Just some details from Episode one that it's easy to forget.

Okay last one, about the vault communication. They haven't really said explicitly but I don't think the vaults are supposed to be in regular contact. In the first episode they call it the triennial exchange, implying they only exchange goods every three years, and the weird, formal way they greet eachother reinforces that. I think the point of the three vaults was that they were supposed to be as self-sufficient as possible, only sharing resources as a last resort lifeline on a pre-arranged timetable. It makes sense why they wouldn't open the doors frivolously if there was crop disease next door.

6:16 Oh, I get it! I didn't get it at first but on rewatch?? The parallels and just charisma of these two and their characters makes it VERY hard not to get flustered. And it just gets *better*. I also enjoy that Lucy's character isn't getting treated with freaking kiddie gloves in the narrative. She's experiencing some shit! He's a bad guy and been nothing but straight misery for her upon meeting him but that's good. She gets a crash course on the wasteland. It's really like the games when you're outta the vault and just pure shock and some ass whupping until you start to level up. And I can't tell you how good it was to watch her take pity on him in the end. Usually these type of 'revenge isn't the answer' actions aren't satisfying but man... Nothing could have felt BETTER there then to watch her leave him alive AND help him. Like Get Humbled. One good part was the scene where when he touches his wifes hand it's gentle and then when he touches Lucy he's cutting her damn finger off, and was planning to sell her to her death anyway! So why the extra torture? Why the mind games with the water? All his excuses of 'survival' when that's just what they are right here and it feels like he can't hide behind them with her or even himself anymore. Even his past self on screen is showing him how he changed his morals and calling him OUT on it. On the subject of ghouls. There's nothing like this medicine in the games. (Personally I think it's drugs and Cooper doesn't realize.) Going feral is like dementia. Too much radiation can deteriorate their brains. There's a doctor in the games studying it and said that eating properly, getting sleep, being social, and other basic human needs seems to help a lot. Most of the games lean in this vague way. But ghouls look like zombies and get treated very poorly, like banned from towns! Or shot at on sight! That's why Cooper was told 'your kind aren't welcome here' in Filly. I don't know if you noticed but Cooper is framed with the Radiation King title here and Lucy is framed with the Atomic Queen. (ep 1)

They've never really had backpacks in the game. Fallout 4 will let you buy one in addition to everything else, so maybe next season! The serum The Ghoul takes is kinda new as far as I can remember, but there are many ghouls who are awesome in the game as NPCs and have all been around for varying amounts of time, but essentially they just last until they turn feral. Ironically they are some of the hardest to hit in the game because they actually dodge and leap!

If The Ghoul went feral, he’d actually be less of a danger than he is now. He wouldn’t be able to use his powerful gun and all of his sinister plans for the wasteland will be up in smoke.

Say what you want about the plot, but the casting in this show is awesome. Matt Berry as the voice of the Mr. Handys is hilarious.

Most of the folks in that vault(if not all the vaults) have shown a lack of common sense.

No you cannot turn into a zombie/ghoul if bit, those rules don't exist in the Fallout universe. When ghouls lose themselves they turn into "feral ghouls."

So snip snip said his temporal something was damaged. So he's programmed to help people but his owners told him to harvest organs, since he's damaged he will do both

I know I'm nitpicking, but it does bother me that so many raiders are still in the vault. Did Moldaver just leave her wounded behind? She had complete control of the vault in episode one, I feel like she could have gotten her people out if she wanted to. Maybe it was some 4D chess plan to poison the vaultdwellers against each other by making them deal with POWs. But I think it's just poor leadership.
