RIP Adam Adamowicz, fantastic artist. 3D Fallout games wouldn't have been the same without him.

I LOVE just how grotesque a lot of the mutants were in that concept art book. Too bad we didn’t get more of them. It’s really sad that the guy who drew all this is now dead. He will be missed. It’s too bad that due to hardware and engine limitations we couldn’t get the crazy scale that was seen in the concept art.

Hilariously, megaton in the concept art actually made sense logic wise as it was shown to be originally elevated on a hill, making it less likely to flood originally. In fact, the capital wasteland looked more muddy back in the concept art, making it seem to make more sense as being super irradiated due to constant polluted rain fall.

I think the simple screen we got for Eden in F3 fits more thematically. Eden pretends to be this relatable and personable president. But his true form isn't anything like that. He's a line on a screen, no face or anything to relate to. It shows how disconnected he really was from what he wanted and pretended to be. Just like how he claims to value American Democracy and due process of elections, but he installed himself as president, being a Dictator in all but name. It's the hypocrisy and irony of his character. Giving him a face as seen in the concept art would give him some legitimacy and would make him at least relatable as humans will connect with something at least presenting as human as we look for a recognizable feature to latch onto. For an example: When you see Mr. House's face on the monitor I bet you look right into the eyes of his picture even if it doesn't logically make sense, since he's not actually looking back at you. Or how about the assaultron. I bet most people look at the Lazer rather than the two bulbs above it which are the assaultron's actual eyes.

The Fallout 3 Concept Art is awesome

I grew up with a book of fallout 3 concept art, i would always look through it every now and then super fun

I remember buying an art book for F3. It was at Toledo Museum of Art and they had a concept art exhibition going on. I bought the book and a game design book from it. Seeing those drawings in person were amazing

“This version is way cooler than what we get in Fallout 76.” *Icy* what you did there.

Its kinda funny how on the nose the concept art for the Enclave was, I mean its accurate to how they are and the uniforms we get in 3 and 76 reflect a similar style of uniform. Do kinda wish we got those outfits though, its a classic style for villains and comes off a bit more threatening than what we get

The mini spaceship alien blaster is such a wild concept, definitely more of a men in black thing, but would have been awesome to see in fallout just for kicks. Maybe have a mission to set the little dude free, maybe a different species than the zetans, and freeing the lil dude would make it so him and his miniature alien buddies would help fight against the zetans. Idk, its early, im at work, and i just had my breakfast smoke. Hahaha

Man, I wish I still had my booklet from the collector's edition. I have absolutely no idea what happened to it or the base of my bobblehead. There is some sick artwork in there.

The ice cream statue and the concept art definitely remind me of the Big Boy Burger statue and they’ve been around long enough it could have initially been intended as an homage or direct reference. I wonder if it changed to an ice cream cone due to licensing with Big Boy Burger?

The concept art for the VR lounge/pod looks very much like the space jockey from Alien.

nice to find a video covering the fallout 3 concept art, I remember going through the gallery on art station years ago and seeing the crazy ideas for the enclave and Tesla armor, wished parts of it's design were more canon

Dude the alien bio weapon concepts for fallout 3 were so sick I think the captured alien ship is such a fun and silly idea it would’ve instantly made the gun a fan favorite

As someone who likes concept art, this is going to be exciting. I've seen a ton of cut content for FNV and other stuff, but never a lot of actual concept art

Loved it, do more videos on concept arts. Its really cool to see how the final designs came to be, how they had to adapt to game performance, to the overall storyline and other factors.

If they had depicted President Eden as in the concept art, I feel that people would have criticized it for being too _on-the-nose._

Just wanted to comment about the concept art of liberty prime with a sheild. I believe the shield is there is similar to why the first Gundam has a shield, for defense from big weapons like missiles or even mini-nukes.

With news of the fallout 3 remaster/remake, it would be pretty exciting to see if the teams could revisit some of these concepts and revitalize the wasteland with new enemies, weapon designs and locations with the more powerful tech available

I always assumed the statue at Paradise Falls was a reference to Bob's Big Boy chain of restaurants. Now that I see that the original concept had a burger im even more convinced. Feom what I i understand there is a "graveyard" of disregard Bob's Big Boy statues. Sounds like a awesome idea for a unique Fallout location.

Honestly I still simply adore the art style of fallout 3 - feels authentically alternate universe in a way the isometric ones never quite got for me. It is the look of fallout for me.

Sad thing is that the concept art for the Cryolator in the Fallout 4 art book looks leagues better than what we got in the end. Oh well, at least the art still is a very useful resource for mod creation (it gave me the idea for my aerospike nozzle ^^).

The wanamingo art might still be canon! Although they’re probably a different species then the fallout 2 version. In Fallout 76, there’s a wanamingo plush that looks VERY similar to the concept art. Also, both the concept art and plush remind me of a frog, so maybe that’s what they are/were? Also, it seems like some of the Mr.Handy concept art got reimagined into certain crafting bench skins in 76.

I really love the city scapes and examples of pre war architecture he drew. Some of them were very unique and it’s kinda a shame we didn’t get more of that type of building and style in fallout 4.

i nejoy eden being so small. in a world where factions like the brotherhood show displays of power like fleets of airships, and the NCR is capable of occupying entire states, it is... poetic that the "leader" of the us government is a single, unassuming, dusty terminal. that had you not even known it was there, you wouldve walked by.

Dude ngl a Liberty Prime with a shield sounds dope as fuck. Like a beautiful combination of offense and defense. The ability to protect the troops in formation with hime while also dealing out seome prewar hurt. Have some lines that are like "A shield to protect America and her people and a fist to crush the Red Menace"

I'm so excited I finally managed to make it when a video was just released (albeit an hour late)!

James would have probably found out about the G.E.C.K and headed to Vault 87 and been captured prior to arrival and turned. There is still, aside from Fawks, a raider held in a cell aside from some Centaurs if I recall. Not hard to see the raider be replaced by your father. Maybe even Fawks himself. Brilliant and all, focused on high positive Karma?

I would’ve immensely hated this lol, but I can see James turning into a mutant from the incident in the purifier that killed him. Either him being exposed to FEV prior, maybe vault 87, or him using that syringe Colonel Autumn used to save himself. Cause that whole part feels poorly thought out to me. They never reveal what Autumn used and he’s the only human (until Broken Steel) to survive the sheer amount of radiation without turning into a Ghoul. I think it would’ve made sense, especially with his opposition to Eden’s genocidal ideas, if that syringe had a form of FEV and/or if James got his hands on it from him

I mean, without over mentioning it, the statues and their concept art analogues would’ve been cool to see. Moving past that, it would been really cool to see concept art for Raiders, BoS and SMs; since the Enclave was covered and all.

Just a guess but the James as a half human half mutant i would think to work it into the story when james kills himself and tries to kill autumn that when autumn came too he would have had james taken back to raven rock and used in experiments for no other reason then spite, and you would have had the choice of killing your dad as a mercy killing or leaving him there to suffer for evil playthroughs.

The "big lootable dung heap" idea of the Fallout 3 Guanamingos kinda has been reused in Fallout 76 with the Scorchbeast guano piles

Only things I (kinda) disagree with are Wanamingos and Liberty Prime. I wouldn't want them to appear in FO3 or any Beth games, but I'd prefer one of those concepts to FO2 version any day. I agree with most of your thoughts on Liberty Prime, but I think it wouldn't hurt for him to look a bit more menacing than he is since to me he looks more like a kid's toy than a war machine

Since Fallout 3 remastered was leaked and hopefully they are working on it, I would like to see some of these concept art applied to the game since the newest consoles and PC can maybe now handle more.

15:56 @radking this supermutant version of James was a part of the original script for fallout 3 where James's son the lone wanderer wasn't involved in working with James to restore project purity and james didn't sacrifice himself to save his friends and colleagues instead the player would find him in vault 87 in the chambers where he was captured and currently turning into a super mutant,begging his son to kill him it was confirmed by Emil Pagliarulo one of the developers that it was gonna be added in the game but was cut due to it being too cliche and emotionally detached.

The sentry bot concept art reminds me a little of the Fallout 4 protectrons, minus the head shape obviously. The next Fallout game would probably be just downright awful, but it would be cool if they used some of the other concept artwork and make some of the higher leveled robots more complex and robust than the lower ones. I love how some of the older Mr. Handy designs just looks cold and ready to take you apart as soon as you give it a reason to.

The Half-Human Mutant should've been Colonel Autumn, it'd be a good explanation for why he survived the sabotage of Project Purity, especially since we've never got any info about the serum he gave himself.

With Eden. Bethesda most likely couldn't figure out how their cell limitation worked. Since it was a bigger room build on a smaller room on top of a smaller room. They still didn't figure it out for Skyrim. Wouldn't surprise me if Starfield suffers the same issues at its' core. Most likely memory leaks.
