BS synth shaun is there to surreptitiously carry out the institutes goals over his infinite lifespan. If the main character is also a synth, then shaun is more than likely there to exert some measure of control over the sole survivor via embedded commands. Simply put, if you want to end the institute, you have to end shaun too. It's possible that father knew some bleeding heart faction like the railroad wouldn't let you do this necessity even if you got over the morality of it. Father through his actions (not his words) demonstrates that he does not care about you or the synths. It's all an experiment turned contingency plan justified with "for the good of humanity".

I think the question is far more simple: By leaving Synth Shaun you are accepting that many bad things have happened to you and you lost your family. But, in accepting that you can finally accept the loss, heal, and move on... building a life for yourself. By accepting Synth Shaun you are in effect clinging to that last scrap of your past life unable to ever let it go. You cannot accept that everything is gone and start to believe that this synth is in fact Shaun. Thus, mentally I think it would be healthier to leave him be... you need to accept what's happened and move on. That is, if we're talking about the realities of the situation that is.

I feel that he installed his own personality to Sean, He wanted to be a father himself. All he ever had to give was this Synth child .. a replica of his own innocent unfulfilled child personality, hopes and dreams... To your child .. this is HIS child... The only child he could ever create.

What if synth Shaun is a sort of last resort? A Trojan horse designed to eventually rebuild the institute under the guise of an innocent child. It's a perfect trap. Offering you something you desperately want while having no idea what else may be hidden in that synth brain. It's a perfect trap. Especially if it's the railroad that helps you destroy the institute as they would never abandons him. Edit: also if you note the wazer wifle is identical in everything but name to the prototype gun in university point. Why not make it a unique laser rifle? Maybe even a truly unique weapon.

The problem with synth shaun is that he does not age. He's the most advanced model of synth essentially a test tube baby. If Bethesda wanted to do it right then they would have said he's the only synth that can actually age and father could've deactivated any programming in him so that you can have an actual son that can live and die and have a family of his own.

I feel like he feels bad for never trying to speak to his father sooner, and maybe feels somewhat responsible for his father never knowing his son, and is trying to do what he can to give his father the time hes lost

Look it from the other way round. The kid could become the new father in the future. A clever way from Father to seed Institute 2.0 this way. What is the first thing he tinkers from an old telephone? A weapon. Sean is evil to the core and you can't blame it to the institute and even when he would be raised by Nate and Nora it wouldn't make a difference.

Another thing i wondered is if synth shaun was programmed to mature so that he can create a better future for what comes ahead since he will be seeing everyone die i wonder if shaun is programmed as well to learn things and mature his mindset and to better the community or will he forever be a child trapped in a synth body

Think about this.....after a few years, I'm very sure that synth Shawn, who thinks he is a real boy, would eventually see his dad, you the player, aging while he himself doesn't. He'd start asking why. So what? You tell this synth he's not really your son, that he's a machine?

Keeping an ageless boy with no knowledge he's a manufactured human and destined to see everybody dead around him with no offspring unless he "manufacture" other synths is cruel in a way; what will he do in the days ahead is up to speculation (or bethesda's whim) but just a simple assumption on his current condition alone says as much.

In Nuka world, i met the creator of nuka cola and he was in a big computer like the old old times, he was immortal but couldn't move. But if synth can be considered as machine, then the synth shaun could be a host for the mind of the REAL SHAUN and HE witnesses the future, he saved the institute in a way and got his childhood back.

In my game, SynthShaun disappeared before I got to the final quest to destroy the institute, I think when we had to tell Z1 it was ready? Or a bit before that. So its likely Father was reprogramming him way before betrayal. He was also reprogrammed if you stay with the Institute, so I dont think time for reprogramming is a problem. Father doesn't have to test the code before writing most of it, probably. I saved him not because he was my son, but because my Sole, as part of the Railroad, believes Synths are just as important and mm, sapient as humans. It would go against their moral code to leave an unwitting sapient being who hasnt intentionally hurt anyone to die. Accepting him as your son is a wholly different matter Though. It's extremely creepy to me that Father would force Shaun on you, as since he believes you to be his son its Extremely Fucked Up to leave him behind. If you dont want to hurt or leave behind someone coded to be a child, it forces you to coddle or parent at least for a little bit. This could do a lot of harm, especially if you dont want the responsibility and likely forced trauma reliving, which just furthers Fathers lack of emotional foresight and overall creepy tones as someone who let you out "for an experiment." He wants you to raise the child for himself, not as a gift for you, even if He Would Like It To Be. As for Shaun being a seed for the Institute, I mean, Tinker Toms probably already thought of that. Not that he could crack into the kids head right now, but. If Shaun is informed of his circumstances, they could...look. Theres other synths likely willing to assist with lending the technology in them. I think its interesting in mentioning the symbolism of accepting Shaun, as well as referring to BioShaun and Father as two seperate entities. I wish they'd explored that dynamic more. I always thought Bethesda missed a great opportunity to have a few Synth Kellogg's as final Bosses. Also as a side note they missed the opportunity when siding with the Institute to reclaim Paliden Danse.

I just started another skyrim play through and I joined the Empire. I know I'm very late to the conversation but has anyone considered the possibility that father is lying to us? I mean there is no evidence in this game that tells us he's our son, or that 80 years passed between Shaun's kidnapping and our release. We just take him at his word. What if he's not? What if he's just an asshole who kidnapped a baby 10 years ago, tried to make a synth child, FAILED, and then gave us back the real Shaun and told us he's a synth just to screw with us?

Thanks for the cool video. I didn't know that "father" has re-programmed the synth, even though I should probably have realized it on my own. I respectfully disagree with your opinion for saving "Shaun". Your argument that, if you don't save Shaun you aren't who you were when you escaped from the vault, is true. But I believe you cannot possibly be the same person anymore. Firstly you have learned that more time has passed and that your son is now and old man. That is one hell of a mind blowing incident right there. Secondly you've learned that this son of yours don't mind that his mother was murdered at all, he has no regret about this and simply views it as an unfortunate accident and part of what had to be done. Also you have learned about synths, what they are and what they are capable of. Having learned all of this information and experienced all of the emotions that go with it, together with all of the people you have met and interacted with on the surface has changed your view of yourself, of the world you live in and of Shuan. The only argument for saving Shaun is whether you believe synth should ultimately replace human beings. If you don't then you must leave him to be destroyed with the rest of the institute. That is my opinion anyways.

when you make more skyrim videos, make one one how to get multipull followers with out using mods [for the people that cant/don't use them] - if you go to jorrvaskr and do all the quests till your in the wilderness with Aela after your first try out of beast form, just walk away and don't fight any silver hand and she will keep following you forever. Next go to Falkreath and talk to the blacksmith lod get the meat go out side and meet with barbas the dog, you'll have to FOLLOW HIM to Clavicus Vile's Shrine and then dont do anything else after talking to Clavicus and barbas will follow you along with Aela. you can also buy any mercenary and they will follow as well. So you can get three followers without mods. ESO if you plan on more skyrim lore then heres an idea, when starting a vanilla skyrim game your about to be executed and then Alduin "saves" you, follow Ralof in to the tower up the stairs jump into the inn and drop down Hadvar Will be there saying "HAMMING get over here" now you know who hammimg is. once you've progressed forther into the game just travel to Ivarstead and go southeast till you find Froki's Shack in side you will find... Hamming living with his grandfather because his parents were killed in Helgan, talk to Hamming's grandfather Froki to get a quest. Love you lets plays
