My theory is the ghoul got his daughter to his wife , and they went to the vault, but they did not allow him to come with them.

I saw a interview with Walton Goggins where he said "Obviously we didn't drop the bombs on the day, but in my own mind, I was seeing it happen, and I was there with my daughter, and it was terrifying. And in some ways, Cooper gets to have that reaction for all of humanity." And he could've been talking about the shooting of the opening scene of course, but I kind of took it more as The Ghoul fabricated that memory for his own sanity, because of the timeline in which the bombs were dropped. Realistically, he was probably at his home drinking and wallowing.

Man, if I had a nickel for every time Michael Emerson played a genius with a german shepard dog as a companion in a Jonathan Nolan series, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that happened twice. (Love 'Person of Interest', most underrated show ever)

I totally get the confusion as to how Hank wouldn't have recognized Moldaver, but when they meet at the vault 32 door, you can see someone in his facial expressions like he might vaguely recognize her. The kind of look where you think you might know someone, but you're not 100% sure. And given his clear disregard for human life in the bombing of Shady Sands, it doesn't really surprise me that he wouldn't recognize her. This is probably just my head canon trying to fill the plot hole though.

Did anyone else catch the evolution in Lucy's delivery of "Oki Doki" ? The first time during her "wedding night" it's all bright eyed and up beat. When she leaves the vault it's already a bit more apprehensive and by the end, her last version of it is very dark.

Question, do you guys remember each face or name of a person you worked with or met at work? Hank and Moldaver aka Ms. Williams, might be working for the same company but aren't in the same division. Hank was management and Moldaver was a scientist. The three vaults don't communicate always, they trade every 3 years.

I had no issue with what you all were discussing about Kyle not recognizing the raider lady, what I question is Betty & Kyle's characters were management, Vault 31, how did they not know who the Vault 32 people should be, and that that wasn't them, from the start?

there are hundreds of vault dwellers. and much can change in 3 years since last meeting. add the blight and people being in their own bubble it makes sense they wouldnt have knows what was up immediatley.

@@rajimus No... I'm not saying there aren't vaults like that. Id believe 4 was like that from the scale and vastness of it. But, they made an effort to depict vault 32 & 33 as smaller more quaint communities, this is reflected in the vaults' designs (tight, small quarter with only one large area for a single small field to grow in) to (with 33, which 32 seems to be similar to) only a 3 member council. These vaults were presented as a smaller, more tight knit experiment.

I suppose it's a question of how tightly knit Bud's Buds were. All of the "residents" of Vault 31 were junior Vault-Tec exec trainees, with Bud Askins as their overall boss, but one presumes each of the trainees was assigned to an established executive (like how Hank McLean was Barb Howard's asistant). So if Moldaver knew enough about the three vaults' structure, she could have picked a female Bud to impersonate as Vault 32 Overseer that worked for an VT exec that would have had minimal contact with Barb, Hank or Betty. So Hank or Betty would know the name but have very little memory of Moldaver's assumed identity. That or the inter-vault IMs that were sent back and forth for the trade between Vaults 32 & 33 arranging Lucy's marrisge included an explanation that Moldaver's cover ID was as 32's interim Overseer (like Maude's doppelganger Stephanie became when Vault 33 took over control of Vault 32) and an election would take place soon. That would placate Hank, under the assumption that a Bud from Vault 31 would win and keep the plan on track.

Such a fantastic show, Fallout is easily my favorite RPG of all time, specifically Fallout New Vegas, so when I saw the ending I cannot wait for season 2!

I think "Days Gone" would make a great TV adaption or film, @41:09. Yes, it's another survival zombie-like game, but the story is rich and dense if they allow it to be. Also, the zombie-like element is a new take on the horror elements. It's also one of the only games that really kept my heart pumping when the action was popping off.

35:45 - ☢️ Actually, it's canon that bombs dropped at different times around the country, it depends on where folks were. On the east coast it was around 9:45 on Saturday Oct 23rd tho. 👍🏻 The devs reused assets for the clocks for New Vegas from F3, so there's some confusion.

I presume we don't know everything about the 3 vaults yet. My guess while watching earlier was that there was some element of controlled crop failure to induce starvation. There was also the bit with the mouse video, and I don't think fully explains the total destruction. So, there might be a bit more.

Easter Egg! I never noticed until now, that in the original vault cartoon character with his thumb up, he has one eye winking. Now I know that he wasn't giving a wink, but he was squinting to check the measurements of his thumb and the nuke blast.

The show was incredibly well done and I'm looking forward to another season. Biggest plothole for me was that Walter Goggin's character overhears his wife talking about dropping the bombs, but then next chronologically we see him doing birthday parties.

Maximus has his SPECIALs in Strength, Endurance, and Luck. Luck is how he finds the head from the gulper, and somehow Lucy is the one that comes along and saves him from the suit. The "Ghoul"'s specials are all VATS related, perception and agility as his combat skills are VATS next level lol

to say the binge drop was a bummer is wild, I wish all shows did that tbh. I hate waiting months for a show to come to conclusion, especially when sometimes the show ends in an underwhelming way, then it feels like a waste of time to me.

As of the time you happen to read this comment, could you quickly remember without even thinking about it remember the face of someone you may have met by chance in passing let’s say six months like for example a friend introduces you to someone add like a gathering or at some sort of event, and then that was the last time you talk to them, could you remember what they look like or their name? And that you have to look at it in reference to Hank a lot from someplace for another division that’s even related to the main company so unless she’s there literally day after day after day after day, he will not recognize her her face. The name possibly may be something. Also, he was responsible for the bombing of the new California Republic. He would recognize the name there which she never mentioned at the beginning she never called herself. Moldaver

Answering the title of this video: Yes. Video games like Fallout are ideal for TV adaptations due to their deep, layered storyworlds. Both mediums excel in transmedia storytelling and immersive narratives across platforms. This is why books and video game film adaptations often fail. Worldbuilding works best in (Super stories) transmedia mediums like tv shows.

Completely agree, I’ve always thought that for most games with deep and long stories, making a tv adaptation would be a better choice over a movie adaptation. The amount of content that you would have to cut out if you wanted to adapt a metal gear or red dead game into a movie would be ridiculous.

About the show releasing all at once. I think this show can do it as it is so rewatch able. As pointed out it has added mysteries in it. Making people want to reanalyse things and predict the next season. It’s something for me back then Heroes and Prison Break had. The only two shows I bothered analysing. Id say making it weekly will lose some potential viewers who can’t or won’t bother waiting. With the gap, they have a chance of stopping. Without it, even though they don’t like it but may be tempted to watch it all…

The line was "the question is will you still want the same things when you found you've become a different animal altogether" It's deep as fuck, and I so felt it all over Lucy's face at the big ending reveal. Such a powerful set up as she spent the whole season intending to get her dad and go home. Once she knows it was all a lie you KNOW she ain't going home and thinking of the mission anymore 😮🔥🤘🏻

24:20 🎉🎉❤❤ hello yet again. Moldaver Was there for one reason and one reason only and that was to activate the cold fusion reactor. She didn’t give a crap about the vaults where they were doing the vaults or anything. She just wanted Hank so it was a win-win for her, but she knew he was going to choose Lucy. There was no there was no option. She knew he was going to lose choose no matter what because they had literally a stockpile of execs to keep the experiments going. They could’ve just started all over again.

Yeah they dropped the bombs early in the morning according to the game, but it sounded like the news anchors on tv at the party were already well aware of the first bombs being dropped, asking the question, "Why tell the weather if we might not even be here in a week!?" Sooo... technically not a plot hole. *boom*

She works for a research company that Volte bought out and shelled her research so there was no point for her to be involved with anybody at the main company let alone the executive assistant member.

I’m an OG breakroom viewer but I can tell that that again this is why I don’t like dropping everything in one time because if you watch it just once all the way through you are going to miss some stuff at the very end is that moldaver personally and I’m pretty sure they were there for a while maybe not that long but they were there for a while before Hank got them

23:10 🎉🎉❤❤ Hanks whole purpose as revealed in the finale. His whole purpose was his children, no matter what so he would do anything to protect them partially from what I can gather is that a who loves his children but also at the same time she is the future of the vault he needs to protect her at all cost because that’s what his job is, besides twisted form of love he has for her because I know he tried to harm her. He tried to do everything to take her. She kept insisting that I am going to take you and I’m going to take you home again, so he would never hurt her or abandon her on purpose.

I think if she opened 33 they would’ve noticed it was Rose pipboy and it would’ve alerted them maybe giving the vault time to get weapons and kill them all off or using some sort of vault tech protection measurements that we do not know about. sneaking into 32 with information from the inside, probably from people that left or escaped 32 was the sneaky way in.

24:20 hey Jacki. There is going to be a lot of subtle nuances and reveals unless you watch it over and over and over again like in my case I’m not only watch the break room, but I have three different reaction that I watch from three different reactors that have different ways of viewing stuff so Not only is it from my view from my first initial watch of the show, but then I rewatch it over and over and over and over again like at least three times over other peoples opinions of what’s going on so that’s how I find the new nuances because they say something I’m not sure about it and then I go back and look at the episode of what they’re talking about to find the answers. Which goes back to my initial feeling that this show should’ve been weekly. It takes away the six days for people to sit and talk about it and review it and take it apart, which is what it should have done.

There’s a lot to take in when you’re watching an eight hour show there’s a lot of stuff you need to take unless you go back and nitpick over and over and over again like I did. Lucy‘s mom went to the new California Republic with the kids somoldaver Lucy‘s mom personally then Lucy gets taken by Hank back home as a small child so that’s why she says you look like your mom and then when Hank blew the crap out of Shady Sands Lucy‘s mom just slowly started to die from radiation exposure. Also I am totally sure that they had bunkers or protective chambers because of the fact that she although worked for a different division she she would’ve gotten access to either of vault or someplace to protect moldaver is not stupid. She knows what they were up to. Maybe not the final plan but she would’ve been prepared for something.

24:20 this is truly the hill that I will lay my life on. Shows like this should be weekly viewed. It should not be benched. I don’t care what the motivation is shows with multiple episodes and you have should be watched weekly because it what it does is it generates conversation it it makes you go back to watch it, which increases the reviewing of it and how you fundamentally grow. As a sidenote, nothing to do with fallout echo on Disney although five episodes if they release that one at a time people would’ve been talking about it a lot more. Series it wasn’t the greatest. The Disney has ever done Marvel, but people would’ve been talking because they were certain things about the characters they made me, wanted to go over and rewatch it watching the reaction videos because that created conversation

It was such an amazing show and portrayal of that humorous grim of Fallout. The nitpickyist of nitpicks I had was how they only called the Yao Guai, a bear. It’s not a bear anymore!

I havent played the game, but really enjoyed this show It gave me a lot of first season Lost and Heroes vibes. Those had a great blend of questions and answers and so much potential for future seasons. I really hope this does better than those did long term

The production values on this show are probably the best I've ever seen. Not once did a bad effect take me out of the story or the show. How you could complain about that I'll never know. I couldn never tell what was CG or what was real. It was phenomenal. Perfectly cast, beautifully written, wonderfully acted, and more. Incredible show.

27:12 🎉🎉❤❤ I agree I agree with John the bear was kinda Eh to me. It wasn’t the greatest effect I felt. The Guler with the fingers was weird until I saw later on why the gopher had fingers and I understood. it was all related to vault number four so yeah you have to watch the vault four episode and then go back to the Guler episode and then it’ll hook up and the only other visual effect one that was a no-win situation is D aging Kyle McLaughlin. it was pretty pretty hefty. I even I was like man OK all right I understand why they couldn’t. They decided to do it but wow, it was. It was rough.

24:20 🎉🎉❤❤ hey gang I just went back just to double check to make sure I wasn’t saying anything wrong, but it was quite obvious that Hank did not recognize moldaver all T and I believe he doesn’t even recognize her from the past I think when it clicks in his head it’s because of now because of the attack on the new California Republic, and not from his past, she may have filled in while he was staying with her when you think about it, they never did do anything with that either Moldaver was as much a McGuffin as the head of the scientist with a cold fusion in it. Also, yeah, no that that was definitely something that they kept quiet about.

Having a couple of good SF RPG shows now; we need a g fantasy RPG show of the same quality. Witcher had a good start, but.... I'd recommend trying HoMM and doing the battle for he throne of Enroth.

22:21 🎉🎉❤❤ hey gang love the break room review does the filling a couple points that maybe you may may not have caught in the overall scheme of the show Moldaver never met Hank. She worked for a different company that vault tech purchased so there was no point for her to meet up with Hank because Hank was just an executive assistant to the wife. So it would be in terms of let’s say it would be like the vice president of Disney, his executive assistant, knowing the person who created a program for Pixar entertainment. There’s no direct correlation they may know off hand, possibly the name, but may not know who the person is and also it is 219 years later, he’s not gonna give a rats butt about remembering one person.

32:52 🎉🎉❤❤ hello there. So just a quick note as far as the thumbs up symbol. Both tragic and deceptive the law or mythology behind the concept of putting a thumb up to check against the cloud is originally from the 40s and 50s for the same concept, except the reality of it is that it doesn’t matter it is not, an effective way to determine what you can do was just propaganda created to make Americans feel safer. With that in mind in the fallout game it’s rather ironic that vault tech also used it to a certain degree as a propaganda device with Cooper. There’s a lot of stuff when you kind of like related to the reality of things is like oh my God put the word twisted crap is this

I feel like maldvor and hank didn't know each because 1 they didn't work at the same place they were working against each other in opposing companies. Hank was with vault tech and maldvor was in Hollywood type company fighting against they're ideas at VT. 2 Hank lived in the vault and maldvor didnt, including Hank's wife she was surface dweller until they met. Doesn't mean he ever met maldvor but he could've known of her the whole jus they probably avoided each other, due to there disagreements.

vault 32 in general is The Plot Hole. They can communicate between vaults. The see each other every three years. This is The Plot Hole.

I may be in the minority, but there have been several shows that I watch one or two episodes and decide I don’t wanna wait and then I won’t watch it for a few months sometimes even years. A good example of this was The Walking Dead during season seven I stopped watching as I got annoyed by waiting because I had binged the first six seasons straight. I didn’t finish the show until after the final season had come out where I watch 7- the end. lol

For the Hank thing I saw it as the Vault Overseerers / Managers cared less to anyone else. Not to mention spoiler Hank dropped a bomb on Shady Town so theoretically he probably thought everyone died after taking back his children. In season 2 I wouldn't be surprised if Hank hypnotized to suppress all the memories outside the vault.

Dropping one episode a week is awesome for content creators as it would give weeks of engaging content and theories. But binge dropping is good for consumers and also the show , I can’t help but feel some shows suffered from the weekly drop because the theories and speculation and hype buildup we’re better than the actual outcome of the show.

I think these more cinematic video games with crazy ideas work best as tv shows. I still think the Sonic movies are the best but they work in the movie format. They’re talking about a live action Zelda now and I kind of hope it’s a show made by HBO or Prime now 😂

44:24 🎉🎉❤❤ hey gang so here’s my take and what you guys are talking about at this point in the video about binge dropping versus week to week without hearing any of your commentary yet I’m just giving my opinion first and then I’m going to listen to what you guys had to say maude very correct and I agree with her and I’m pretty sure I might be also agreeing with Jackie as well in the fact that it is dependent on what the show is in the case of fallout this particular first season it would’ve been a lot better as a week two but if you’re unsure about the reaction then do like you did with I don’t remember it’s been such a long time. I don’t know if if the boys did it or not but like invincible 2 to 3 episodes see what the reaction is and then go from there. As a sidenote, the first three episodes were directed by Jonathan Nolan and then all the other episodes were different directors so if you’re going to drop episodes for them to watch and simmer over those three first episodes were building so they could’ve done that and I’m sure by the second episode by the end of the second episode people would’ve been like all over this you could’ve dropped the for people to go especially with the ending of episode two people go what is going on here and then the big reveal that Cooper is the vault boy symbol would’ve hooked you in instantly

Video game adaptations work best when they dont draw directly on a specific character in a game but instead focus on new characters in the same universe with traits of the game characters. Resident Evil were one of the first ones to figure this out. Like, "hey why dont we tell a story about a character in the universe but not the main character from the games" and then when they decided to add the main characters it started going down hill.

It wasn't raiders in Episode 1. It was the NCR attacking the Vault that nuked Shady Sands 10 years ago. Monty was radioactive because Lucy's dad nuked him as a kid.

32:45 I absolutely hate this retcon because it misinforms people. The mushroom cloud can be many times the size of your thumb and you'll still be perfectly fine. And if you're too close, you get fried in the blast radius before the 'shroom forms. It started as an urban myth (either among Fallout fans or soon adopted by them) in the '00s that this was one of the Cold War era rules taught to people. It was not. And for 8 published video games, at least 4 canceled video games, and at least 4 published tabletop games, it only ever was deceptively cheery propaganda by Vault-Tec, and then this show builds a whole character out of it. The Vault Boy and his iconic thumbs-up having been based on a real man who eventually got screwed over by the company is an interesting idea and largely executed well, but there was no need to legitimize this ludicrous fanon nonsense.

I hope Microsoft sees the complete opposite reactions, They have received for fallout and halo and understand why and maybe this can save the halo TV show. I also hope this helps gears of war projects and other future game adaptations just stick to the source material. It was already a hit.
