Tiny House Giant Journey

Күн бұрын

What happens when your house becomes too small for your family? Well, this family decided to buy a Tiny House, park it next to their small house, and use it as bedrooms for their kids. In this video, you'll learn why they did this, how the decision has changed their family dynamic, and what they plan on doing with the tiny house in the future.

I noticed the tiny addition doesn't have a kitchen so wonder how they could live in it... at least as is.
@recoveringsoul755
@recoveringsoul755 2 жыл бұрын
They'd need a kitchen and desks and bookshelves, and internet as well as electricity and water hookups. Unless they find some land they can park it at close enough to school where they can walk or ride bikes to class, not sure how that would work. Not everyone has land that's flat and suitable for this. Still have to rent the RV space which is what they'd be looking at I think. With no kitchen I'm wondering how long it is, because the bedrooms are on either ends, but they don't even have a living room area downstairs, so maybe it's shorter length
@recoveringsoul755

Might be a better deal to leave it where it is, RENT it out as one of those Air B-n-B's so the family has extra income, and use that to help the girls with college expenses

Ok but why is a tiny house $67,000? It really bugs me that these houses were created to make having a home more accessible to people and yet they’re becoming the same price as a house but without land. (Not saying anything negative towards these people. They’re awesome. I’m talking about the tiny house community as a whole.) Edited: their to they’re* it was bugging me. Surprised no one pointed it out.

I think you need to take in account the labor put in for a well-made house. That’s probably why~ idk these tiny houses are getting bigger and bigger too though

It makes sense to me. A lot of tiny houses built lately have high end finishings, and also include appliances. Also, in my suburban area right now, a smaller houses are going for $160,000 and up, so paying a builder ~$60,000 to make exactly what you want without worrying about permits is far more achievable. Also it seems like more people are having tinies built for them these days, whereas before many people supplied their own labor.

I'm so drawn to the prospect of multigenerational living, homesteading, and tiny houses. I think they are both increasingly popular for the same reason. They are both very practical ways of creating a more stable, relaxed (or less tension/anxiety), responsive and responsible way of living. It's a way to live more self-sufficiently without placing the burden on one or two. Children learn skills, feel important to the family, take responsibility. Parents and grandparents contribute, teach, and are helped and supported by the rest of the family. It's very cool!!!

I’ve been pitching this style of living to my kids for years. One property tax, one driveway to plow, one lawn to mow. Group garden. They think I want to live with them. Uh hell no. I remind them I’m way more fun and cheerful than They are. I just want a tiny house out in the back corner facing the other way and I’ll see them for breakfast on sundays. It’s just smart living. Especially considering the tough times ahead. Love the idea of adding tinies. Why not.

Absolutely love this premise, 3 generations living together and involvement with the community. Really helpful idea to offer your goats for mental & physical health. Your daughter might like to join a choir, it would help extend her vocal range. She is so beautiful as is the entire family and land. Bravo : D

They didn't specifically mention the mother either. I guess it's just the focus wasn't on them for this content ❤️❤️ the father only got mentioned for building the shade and buying the land and the rest focused on the girls and the family as a whole. Nothing strange about it

Maybe they wanted to protect him. It's their choice how much they share, after all. I think everyone would agree that people shouldn't be pressured to share more than they would like to about their young children. And since it's a video about houses, not who's who in the family, it's really not required

He wasn't absent. They acknowledged that they have 3 kids and he was clearly present throughout the video including during the scenes were they talked about family while showing everyone together. I agree! I think it's a great space and idea, but having a hard time seeing how it could cost $67,000. It's a simple build, no appliances or kitchen, minimal cabinetry, no fireplace, very few of the costlier materials seen in many tiny homes. Yes, lumber costs are up but still doesn't explain the price tag, in my opinion.

8:18 Our family can relate with this - I wasn't at home but mom was with my younger sisters. This poor FedEx lady pulled in and got stressed from our big dog (all bark, no bite) but mom could see how tense she was and trying to not cry but wound up losing it when she realized that our dog wasn't threatening, she was just bracing for another emotional hit of some sort. It turned out her whole day was hellish, and the breaking point was the neighbor down the road yelling at her for disturbing their uncontrollable dog (now this one was actually more threatening) and for it's misbehavior. Jumping onto the van, etc. Well, she saw mom's horse come out of the barn and her whole demeanor changed. Mom got her to calm down and pet the horse and stuff. Then the goats came out. She'd never seen real barn animals up close like she did that day, and mom refused to let her go off without some fresh barn eggs. Mom just took time to hear her speak her mind, to calm her down, and send her off more relaxed. The FedEx lady said she was the nicest person she encountered for a good while and felt refreshed just from petting the animals.

I love the ingenuity here! Just amazing & helpful on so many levels! If they are heading to college-they are learning responsibilities such as taking care of a “space”. It is still in Moms & Dads home -for many reasons such as safety. The kids are responsible taking care of their animals & now their own tiny home! If they move out for school for 4 yrs they can always return looking for their next “adventure” in the working world! It’s a great space for over flow-any time in one’s life! From children to in laws to grandchildren & beyond!
