Seriously, i could never. Maybe the daughters but the rest could go to hell. The dad had no room to have a pissy look either when he laughed.

He can not, because his ex has a kid with him. She can not cut tie now like they should have done before. It's too late. Plus he should sue is ex too, because since the divorce was based on a lie, one can consider she then cheated on him with his brother. (but i still have doubt about all of his daughter being HIS daughter and not his brother's) It is possible that this was a cover-up for her cheating with his brother from whom she allegedly have no feelings at all -and still, marry him and had s.x with-.

The only truth i listen ot here is the father admitting he is a bad father. Indeed. He told his son to think before making big decisions but is "do what I say, not what i do" type of guy.

Yes. He could at least sue the brother for the lies. But how do you prove you did nothing? More : it would have cost much money and for what? Would you go back to a "wife" and "daughters" that believe lies on you on the spot without thinking about it ? Would you go back to parents that disowned you without following their own advice of thinking before acting ? Would you go back to a "wife" that told you she had no feeling for an intrusive BIL but won't cut ties with him? Not a chance. They had their chances to grow up on a nice familly and choose to break it : so much the worse for them ! Plus I wouldn't touch/hug/be intimate with my ex again after knowing she got intimate with another man, so what's the point of living together again ? Day after day one is hoping for a good life that will never happen to come back and the other one will give cold shoulder day after day (which is exhausting). That's not the idea I have of a happy reunited family. OP seems to be a doormat but i think he calculate the ratio chances to win/costs/damages done and it was not worth it. For all the reason above, even had he proven in court it was a lie and got the brother to back off, I wouldn't waste my time with all those females spreading their hatred for you. It was better to end this quick and accidentalty proving that his ex wasn't completly "feeling-less" towards the BIL as she prenteded. And one can not deny that OP is very polite. He did not shove to his ex's face that there was no coming back nor forginveness. He just politly said "chances are slim we get back together". ^^

I have serious doubt that the brother built up the plot all alone. I'm pretty sure she get "intimate" with her BIL way before all the set up happened. Her not willing to cut ties with the BIL seems really suspicious now. OP should have his daughter DNA tested. The youngest (now 18) may not be his. She pretended she allegedly had no feelings for the brother but still, knowing he is no good, choose to beleive him on the spot, marry him and get intimate right away. She was craving for that moment It's obvious. I agree about the kids now being grown-up and experienced enough but for the oldest one. The youngest was 12 but the oldest was 18 back then. She should have known better.

The disaster already happened. This is "play pretend". He is not coming back, he is just too polite to say it out loud. He told his ex "chances are slim" but we all know it's a definitive "No". About his daughters I'm torn. the younguest one was 12 and basically a child. The older one was 18 and should have known more. Whatever,.exchanging pictures of a bygone era and meeting a cat ? There is no warmth, no feelings into that. It's way too late, way too deep. It feels fake as hell. He was driven away from their graduations, wedding, etc.. They are just strangers to him. He will go his own way and keep cold but cordial contact with them, but htey are now his daughters anymore.

@@tomjoad1363 I doubt I would've met them in the first place. If we get to the point that we have zero contact chances are pretty slim to make a comeback, but after such an ordeal? Most likely less than zero.

Kids are different. They’re your whole life and it’s painful just to imagine not seeing them again. It’s easy to say things when you aren’t in the situation or if you don’t have kids but when you actually are in the situation there are a lot of things to account for.

The 18yo one was 12 when the setup was made. I could forgive her as she was a child. But the now-24yo was 18 back then. She should have known more.

As I commented back to @saadsaleemmalik8531, I think OP just calculated the ratio of Gain/Costs of suing his brother for the fasle allegation. I would have been hard to prove especially if the brother had a friend of his lying in court. As you, he didn't think it was forgiveable nor worth it. He is emotional indeed but I guess I would be too if my own brother destroyed my happy familly, and caught me off guard.

He did not get an apology from his mom she just talk the "I miss you" BS.

It was not the OP who offed himself. It was the brother who did that. The OP and his ex were dating again, trying to restart their relationship. If I recall correctly, one day, the wife comes out of the house to see the brother hanging on a tree. I read it shortly before it was deleted and the OP's account got suspended. I hate that I didn't save that last part.
