He probably had a demanding schedule as well, perhaps even more (after all, he was not living in his parents' guest house), AND he had to make enough money to sustain himself as well as the alimony and child care payments. But, what about KATE? She did not work at all, and the guest house where Nancy was living was only a few yards away. In my opinion, Kate was being a bit judgmental and hypocritical here.

The writers were really scraping the bottom of the barrel here to give Buddy a storyline. Honestly who throws anniversary parties for high school sweethearts...while they are still in high school? And for Buddy to try to manipulate her friend by pretending to date her boyfriend? The selfish controlling boyfriend who admitted he was "conceited and hard to get along with"? Why was Buddy so involved in this couple's personal business? Made no sense and is out of character for Buddy - I always thought her character was supposed to be a good person. As an older teen she has really become quite nasty.

Nancy's trying to make a quantum leap in her career. Making it to "junior partner" is a very big deal. Once she gets that promotion, she'll be able to hand off a lot of work to other people. Am I saying this is all okay? No. But it's a reality many women faced back then and still face today.
@gmh471
@gmh471 Жыл бұрын
Um, no. First of all, the phrase "junior partner" only exists on television. There are equity partners, non-equity partners and contract partners. But they are all referred to as partner. Second, partner is a nice title for the new partner, but they are generally glorified associates who still have to do the work for the partners who bring in the business. As is often said, making partner in a law firm is like winning a pie eating contest where the prize is a lifetime supply of pie. Moreover, she just became a lawyer. It will take her 6 years AT BEST to gain the title of partner unless she walks in one day with a hundred thousand dollar's worth of business (today it would be 5 times that). The entire premise of this story line is nonsense but, then, TV and movies almost always fail to properly portray the legal profession and legal practice.

Um, Kate, you don't work at all, and Nancy lives only a few yards away in the guest house. Maybe YOU could help out as a grandmother?

Only a man can say a housewife doesn't work with real cooking, baking, shopping, laundry, a whole house to clean, a garden to take care of und a gazillion more things to do. You should try it yourself.🙄

Kate to Nancy: Thanks for meeting me, school lunch is a choice between fish sticks and macaroni and cheese. Me: Good to see nothing’s changed in school lunches in 40 years. Keep giving in to the sugar lobbyists like good old Michelle O.

I always thought Kristy was one of the better kid actors in Hollywood at the time. This show on the other hand is horrible. The overall acting is poor and the writing is laughable. Hard to watch.
