My favorite episode of the series. Love when the cleaning woman warns Kate against trading a silk purse for a sow's ear. Was the first time I'd heard that expression. Most of us have been on the giving and receiving ends of this at some point. Not fun. We find out throughout the episode that the whole family cares about Mrs Hogan and not just Kate. Willie buys her a gift and Nancy and Doug offer legal assistance. Pasadena Matron Arrested for Shoplifting! Pretty ridiculous that this makes the paper.

Thats the way a lot of shows used to be and some people in general. It’s Ike once a woman had kids she had to cut her hair short and then came the cotton ball hairstyle that lasted the rest of their life. Even on All in the Family Edith was approaching her 50th and she was actually 49 or so and so was Carroll o’ Connor yet they both looked to be in their 70s or 80s. Edith asks “do i look like I’m gonna be 50?” I’m like “no hun u look like you’re going to be 70”

Since Elaine Hogan was so afraid about what Fred's reaction to her other daughter was going to be , it's no longer an issue for her to care what Fred thinks so why did the writers not show Elaine meeting her daughter for the first time since she had given her up for adoption. In my opinion if I were one of the writers I would have insisted on bringing back the story line for that episode. Would have been nice to finally see the two meet one another and they both seemed so lonesome so why not pair them together at the end of this ep.
