That *has* to be an ST perspective game, because how juicy is it to hear them think through which fake lunatic target to give to the lunatic to make it believable, when what they're actually doing at that point is basically leading the real demon indirectly. edit: actually demon or lunatic perspective would work pretty well too, but we miss out on possible ST anguish and is harder to set up specifically for chat's benefit

The Lunatic double up is always a bit of a questionmark, because this essentially means the ST picks kills, and removing player agency isn't really the most fun thing.

@@captain_kadaver They do of course always have the ability to not follow their Lunatic or "Lunatic"'s picks but yeah. The ST definitely leads quite a lot more socially in this situation. Though the point of the Storyteller is to guide the game and certain characters give them direct intervention powers, it's not a very easy situation to make fun for the players

Give them both as each other's Lunatic and give them both to the Librarian, and give the real Lunatic the Lycanthrope's picks first.

Doing lunatics lunatic is hard because it means the story teller is deciding who the lunatic sees their lunatic chose, so in a way the ST is deciding kills. I would add an evil amnesiac who's ability is Each night*, choose a player. Both the lunatic and demon will learn this players name as if the lunatic had chosen them.

That sounds fun, I'm just not sure about minions learning who you are, because they would just tell it to you (marionette demon?) and you could guess day 1. I guess it could work kinda like a Poppy grower, but when you become a demon only then your minions learn. It shouldn't take too long either, because you would notice that you are causing the deaths

Notice that the minions do NOT learn WHO you are...... they only learn you have amnesia. So they have to not only FIND the amnesiac, but also convince them they ARE, in fact, the demon, without knowing that's what they have to do. Basically, for the minions, it goes like this: "So-and-so is your fellow minion and your demon has amnesia." then the ST should refuse to elaborate further.

​@@LunaraiaIf the script has a magician, you could also use that and show the demon and magician. This way, there will be less coordination possible until they found the demon. The only danger will be, until the demnisiac finds out what their power (and alignment) is, they'll probably tell others, who might figure it out as well.

Hiya :D Obviously all of this depends on the ruling, which I clarified with Maggot, but this mostly relies on the interpretation that a Philosopher picking Lunatic is shown to the demon as a Lunatic. If I truly was a philosopher picking lunatic, I'd have two main benefits two town: 1) The Lunatic, if in play, is drunk, so the demon doesn't learn their picks, which makes it easier for the lunatic to figure out they are actually the lunatic 2) The demon does not know that I know of my lunatic identity, which allows me to direct kills in a way that is beneficial to town while keeping the guise of an actual lunatic (Small addendum, I also learn my "minions." Since the storyteller knows that I know they aren't real, they can just give me anyone, but even then that allows somewhat decent worldbuilding opportunities.) Now, in the game, I obviously wasn't the actual Philo-Lunatic, and i actually spent the first few days claiming unspent Seamstress to most people, confirming my "Philo-Lunatic" to only RobG, the oracle, later Sheep, the actual Seamstress, and Luminator, the Innkeeper. Talking to Luminator, we decided I should Lunatic-target Markus, to see what would happen; this followed by Luminators death not only calls Markus' Mayor claim and alignment into question, but is also possible pivot to frame me as an actual demon if necessary. Besides that, yeah, it's also just fun to claim, and I want to imagine that it happened to work quite well :)
