If anyone has read the deathly hallows book, this whole fantastic beasts trilogy is an extended story telling about the life and lies of Dumbledore. So that flash forward makes sense. I am sure Dumbledore be using that pensive for more than just the memories of voldy. That pensive was a storage unit for Dumbledore's life! His teenage and adult years... all the trauma of life that led to the creation of the wise old wizard we see in the movies and books.

If they had to replace Johnny Depp, then I am happy that they went with Mads Mikkelsen as he is such a great actor. We must give Mads Mikkelsen a chance.

As much as I love Depp as soon as I saw that they cast Mads my first thought was "why wasn't he the first choice?!" He seems perfect to me, especially against Jude Laws more grounded portrayal.

Something I’m looking forward to most is the legendary duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald. It has been mentioned in the books and maybe even in the movies and was how Dumbledore came into possession of the Elder wand.

Dumbledore being gay wasn’t too extremely an after the fact thing. It came up in a meeting with J. K. Rowling and the makers of the Half-Blood Prince movie. Concerning the scene where Dumbledore takes Harry to see Slughorn. The original version of that scene has Dumbledore telling Harry about a “woman” in his past. Besides if you read between the lines in the Deathly Hallows book and some context clues here and there it’s somewhat evident there as well. Now I will agree a lot of the other things that J. K. Rowling has come out with after the completion of the movies is a bit much like the wizards of the distant past shatting on the floor at Hogwarts before plumbing was invented thing haha. By the way you totally destroyed me with the gay orgy thing. I could NOT stop laughing. I’m right there with you; all these big companies need to COMMIT to it if they are going to drop something like that on us lol.

One of the secrets is that Dumbledore as a young man first started the belief in the war against the Muggles. He convinced Grindlewald. who became his first follower. Dumbledore secret is he created the monster of Grindlewald.

I still can't wrap my head around why Jacob(the muggle) is given a wand. The HP books (and FB-1&2 movies too for that matter) held clearly the notion that the magical powers are only possessed by wizards and the wand was invented as a means to channel that magic via spells. Before the invention of wands wizards used to use raw magic which led to frequent accident because of the amount of magic used being uncontrolled. In the modern day only powerful wizards like Dumbledore, Voldemort, Grindelwald etc. can channel their magic without the use of a wand.

I hope they explain how Kowalski gets his wand because wands aren't just a weapon like a gun they choose their masters or have to be won through a battle. He isn't even a wizard to begin.

Dumbledore is a wizard that seems to have unlimited abilities he has become a bit of a plot device for the writers so I'm guessing he just enchanted the wand and tethered it to him I'm just not gonna think about it too much.

I think this 'Fantastic Beasts' part of harry potter universe has big indentity crisis... 1st one was kinda Beast related - 2nd wasnt at all beast related and it made itself a 'family bloodline' plot and resolved it - 3rd makes 'almost' entirely new plot that was just barely setup with the ending of previous one... Like Ryan George would say: What is going on, what is happening

Exactly! This is what i told to my friend who is a fan of Harry potter. The 1st one was already scarce of fantastic beast stuffs. they should make the story entirely separated from Harry potter (maybe they can mention some names) but not actual key characters of harry potter being the main conflict of this entire thing. now that I see the third one's trailer, i feel like the title shouldn't be fantastic beast anymore. it's kinda annoying for me cause I was genuinely interested in this series for the beasts. like I imagine we will meet this fantastic magic beasts etc

Fawkes doesn't wants to go to Ezra(Orelius 🤔) and favors Albus that much is clear from this trailer. I don't think Ezra is truly a Dumbledore and Jude Law wants him on the right side.

Like you guys I’m cautious but excited!!! I loved the first film, didn’t like/understand the second but I did enjoy seeing dumbledore and newts friendship. The fact Jacob gets his wand will make some great funny scenes 😂 I was upset that Johnny Depp is no longer grindleward but I do like Mads Mikkelsen version because he does make a great villain so I’m excited to see that too!

I am so excited about the secrets of Dumbledore. 🤩🤩 Just a suggestion, there is a channel on KZfaq that does videos on Harry potter theories, the Supercarlin brothers and I personally love them. You should check out their videos. My favorite video of their's was how Draco Malfoy was actually a werewolf (got bitten by I mean) and not a death eater. Do check it out.😄😄

For once, I completely agree with Jaby.☺ And I am a huge HP fan. I did not even watch the fantastic beasts series for all the reasons Jaby mentioned and rightly so. And the Jude Law "flaw" was bang on. He is more Jude Law than Dumbledore. But I like Jude Law. Of all the three trailers, this one is slightly more exciting, probably because of again like Jaby said, the action scenes. The HP movies never stood up to the quality of the books anyway, but as a fan I am excited for Dumbledore's secrets and how it connects to the original plots as we know. I think Achara's love for HP clouded her judgement for these films slightly ☺

Jaby, I agree with you about Johnny Depp... they should have brought him back after the Heard thing was sorted out and he was proved innocent. That being said, I do feel Mads Mikkelsen will be able to do equal justice to the role. Personally, JD to me will somehow always be Captain Jack Sparrow, and while I've watched him perform other roles equally well, it's the pirate that always comes first to mind when I think of him. Agree with you about the accent thingy as well. Also, the books are almost always better than the movies, whether it be Harry Potter or LOTR, but maybe because I haven't read the Fantastic Beasts novels yet, I found the movies quite fun and interesting.

Agree with Jaby on Jude Law. Also the new Grindelwald does not seem to match the energy against Dumbledore (i.e. Jude Law) as opposed to Kohnny Depp's rendition of Grindelwald. Excited to watch the movie nonetheless.

this film does look good. But so far the only problem I have with it is the fact muggles can use wands now? if thats the case then all wizards are muggles. the word muggle is just useless now. And the fact that Hermoiny is a mud blood is just ridiculous now.

I too was upset they didnt get Johnny Depp back and planned to not show support but damn somehow i feel like Mads fits Grindelwald better and start wondering why is he not the first choice. And I definitely agree that Jude Law feels off as Dumbledore. He's awesome and has similar wit as the character but Jude Law feels far too "charismatic confident" than "wise confident" if that makes sense. But I dont really mind him "suddenly is gay" because in Harry Potter, Dumbledore's past has always been kept secret aside from his family, and Aberforth has hinted that he hated Albus's "friendship" with Grindelwald, but there was no necessity or good timing that would allow the revelation of Albus's sexuality. He's an old man probably way past the age to have any sexual desire, and there's no other character that could potentially be his partner either in the HP franchise. Especially since the focus has always been about Harry and how Albus's story could possibly assist Harry's character arc, but him being gay would've been irrelevant to Harry, thus was never mentioned. Announcing his sexuality later on is probably to set up the new franchise that finally highlights Albus's past relationship.

I can understand that people are sad and angry about Deep unjustice but after it proved that Deep is inoccent they already filmed this movie with Mads Mikkelsen! All this years, i've been waiting for the epic battle between Dumbledore and Grindelwald.. and knew it would be Jude Law vs Johnny Depp, i was soooo excited. And now the recast disappoints me, I'm not gonna pay any galleon to watch the film 😔

Well thank you sooo much jaby for mentioning my issue with these movies. Jude Law? Dumbledore? I mean? Come on! There's no way I'm buying it. I don't care what ppl say but he's not fit this role, Dumbledore was a mystery, now I'm looking at him and I'm seeing Alfie. Who the heck is choosing these castings?!

jaby.... a man and a woman kissing is not an orgy and neither are two men kissing... come on now, sir. Movies are a business. I wish it was different, but if people don`t show up for movies because of a harmlessly stupid kiss, then there`s no franchise. You have been in the industry for longer, you definitely know that.

Meh. This series doesn't have the heart of Harry Potter films and doesn't keep me interested. I liked the comedy short guy, he made the first one bearable. Pass.
