"House of the Dragon is an American fantasy drama television series. A prequel to Game of Thrones (2011-2019), it is the second show in the franchise, created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal for HBO. Both series are based on the A Song of Ice and Fire novels by Martin. Condal and Miguel Sapochnik are the showrunners. Based on parts of the novel Fire & Blood, the series is set about 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen. It portrays the beginning of the end of House Targaryen, the events leading up to and covering the Targaryen war of succession, known as the "Dance of the Dragons"

If you look closely on the opening sequence of HOTD, you'll find the noble houses that were major supporters of Rhaenyra and Aegon. There you can find the Velaryon, Hightower, Starks, Lannister, Arryn, Baratheon, Blackwood, Redwyne, Manderly, Peake and Dustin sigils.

This is actually a real thing in heraldry, when a Lord's emblem is actually a pun on their name. It's called "Canting Arms", and while some are more obvious and less jokey eg - The Kingdom of Castille (part of what is now Spain) having a Castle The Kingdom of Leon (part of what is now Spain) having a Lion Others are far more tongue in cheek. Princess Beatrice has 3 bees upon the Britsh Royal shield. Why 3 Bees? Bee-Thrice. Bea-trice. Berwickshire in Scotland's coat of arms are a Bear and a Tree, specifically the Wych Elm. Bear Wych. Note that the etymology of Berwick has nothing to do with Bears or Wyches, but Bere (Barley) + Wic (Town). Berlin also has a Bear on their shield, Bear in German being Bär. Bärlin.

I can't think of a single time when the tyrells followed the direction of the Hightowers. If anything, it's largely been the opposite: the WOT5K, Roberts Rebellion, and the blackfyre rebellions all saw the tyrells leading and their bannermen following. One of the only reasons the DotD was an exception was because Lord tyrell was a child, his mother was regent, and she couldn't jeopardise her sons safety by picking a side

The Tyrells stayed neutral, but other houses in the reach did support Rhaenyra. House Tarly, and House Beesbury and another house on the reach supported her too.

The Tullys and Tyrells were both upjumped by the Targaryens, so i dont expect much loyalty from their vassals. Id imagine the riverlands and reach will descend into civil war.

The Stormlands had been Loyal to House Durrandon for thousands of years, and House Durrandon was represented by a black stag on a gold field, and by the words "Ours is the Fury". Orys Baratheon took the last Durrandon as his wife, and adopted her sigin and house words. So through the female line, all Baratheons after Orys come from the Durrandon bloodline, which was Stormlands royalty for millenia.

I´m going to being honest I am not a fan of George RR Martin´s favourite Houses: I despise Blackwoods, Arryns are boring, Starks are overrated and Velaryons only exist to being submissive at Targaryens. I kinda prefer Baratheon and Lannister overall

Ahhh yes… Rhaenyra’s loyalists. A merry band of traitors I call them. Calling the King’s supporters traitors is a bit rich as well. 💀 Maybe if Rhaenyra took her own vows more seriously, then the Lords of the realm would take their/their father’s vows to Viserys more seriously. Aegon II is the eldest son of the previous king. Holds the Conqueror’s name, wields his sword, was crowned in front of lords and common folk wearing the Conqueror’s crown. The only Queen is the lovely Helaena! Rhaenyra will have to learn the lesson of traitors the hard way it seems… To quote the great Stannis I Baratheon: “She was the daughter of one king and the mother to two more, but she died a traitor’s death for trying to usurp her brother’s throne” 😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨
