I think one of the reasons he sees people as unreachable....is because he knows HE is unreachable. In fact its quite likely he doesnt believe reachability even really exists. People with a very rigid two-dimensional view of the world tend to view things purely in terms of power dynamics

One thing I do wonder though is, these people with very rigid, reductive, two-dimensional views....I'm becoming less convinced this is particularly age-related. I think people 'grow out of' this way of thinking less than we think People grow out of certain views (whatever they are) but I think only if they have the capacity and flexibility to do so, gradually. Whereas very rigid people just swap their whole worldview for another one rather than growing out of views. Actually, I should just a different phrase, I prefer 'building on' rather than 'growing out of'

And if you have the ability to blame a whole group of people for a problem then you get to feel morally superior and feel like you have the solution to all of the countries problems, so it kinda makes sense he would think this way. Most people think about good and bad people the same way this guy does : just black and white.
