Edinburgh's Hogmanay 2020 - Online Celebration
Fare Well is a new poem by Jackie Kay that bids farewell to 2020 and wishes a better year for 2021
Narrated by David Tennant and others, Fare Well underscores the UK’s largest swarm drone display, recorded in the Scottish Highlands and cut to spectacular views above Edinburgh.
Part One of Fare Well looks at the year gone by - the funerals and weddings cancelled, the griefs and despairs which have been collective, with a feeling that the world has become a village.

It was a brilliant piece of work, so frustrating that the much hyped live link let it down. I was touting this to family and friends all over the world only to be left feeling I'd let them down. Thank goodness for KZfaq! Well done to everyone concerned!

Gone the ear shattering explosions disturbing man and beast, instead, a feast of poetic peace. Gone, the repetitive blinding flashes on the eye and gone the sulfurous, sickly smells, which once permeated crystal clear Scottish air, as now in awe we gaze upon the triumphant unmatched display, heralding in Scotland's New Year.

I'm a Scottish Kiwi that spiral before the key was a koru for me. The Maori symbol derived from the unfurling fern frond which symbolises birth, renewal, hope.

I keep watching all 3 parts of this stunning, artistic and highly moving display. I had no idea that something so breathtaking was possible. But for covid we might not have seen this wonder so I am strangely grateful to a deadly virus - for a moment. I never thought that could or would happen. I'm also so grateful to Celestial for their expertise and for all concerned in making such beauty to delight the senses and bring renewed hope. I'm immensley proud to live in Scotland.

I'm not Scottish but I spend any significant time I can up in the Highlands and Islands, admiring the majesty and beauty of Scotland's landscape and wildlife. In fact, I should have been up there as I type this now so these incredible videos, whilst making me miss it even more, have allowed me 15 minutes of escapism - a chance to dream of the next time I'm able to cross the border again to the lands I love so much. @@danielwhyatt3278 Scotland has been voted by conde vast,ccn travel, rough guide etc as the most beautiful country on a number of occassions I am not disputing the fact that there are many beautful countries but the fact is clear on travel reviews.Never been to Japan must try it .

The brightest thing in the sky last night was Jackie Kay`s voice, beautiful words, delivered with true passion and conviction. Jackie represents everything Scottish, our culture, our history, our people and welcoming sprit. In the far distance, if you listen very carefully, you can hear Burn`s saying " I like this Lassie" Phenomenal production, well done to everyone involved.

The display was filmed piece by piece in remote Highland areas and then superimposed on views of Edinburgh and its surrounds.

Someone mentioned the song is the "The Old Ghosts Waltz" written by Archie MacFarlane. This was a carefully curated memorial, and for those who lost someone this year but could not give them the send off they deserved, I'd like to say thank you. This should about do it.
