GTO and Grand Prix have poor mileage, poor traction, and are too small to house the homeless, so I see no redeeming factors except possibly, with rear frame and suspension upgrades, they might tow camping trailers, which might then house the homeless. Kevin chose much better with his FWD diesel for 2wd traction, which he demonstrated even with a flat tire, and a pickup which can both carry and tow campers, though perhaps with another engine if that one can't be fixed. Try retorquing head bolts if not too late. Retorquing should be routine on those 350 Olds diesels. Is there a good retorquing spec? Adults don't accelerate.

@alan6832
@alan6832 10 ай бұрын
The 301 should get the best gas mileage and might have the best traction, plus towing with cars is usually limited by the rear frame or trans cooler, rarely by the engine. Adults don't accelerate, so GTOs are toys unless modified for towing, with receiver hitches, that or flip to a man-child. To tow campers for the homeless, it needs a receiver hitch, but 301 is plenty. Kevin's diesel El Dorado demonstrated it's traction, but can it tow? His diesel truck can, slowly or with another engine, ideally 4.3, gas or diesel.
@alan6832
@alan6832 10 ай бұрын
Kevin's failure to flip is childish, and GTO's are good for flipping, but not much else. Kevin owns too many cars. Revive a Chevette! Though I hear you can't find a Chevette with posi. Revive wagons!

Unbelievable that any of those cars ran - good old GM engineering. Love the ingenuity in using the license plate for both a pry bar and a hack saw. Many years ago my fuel filter clogged up and I used a pen tube as a bypass to get her home - when dealing with old cars you need to be very creative at times.

I worked with a guy whose son in law owned a Pontiac dealership in Countryside, IL. He gave everyone at work the best deal on a Poncho. Like dealer cost. I ordered my 76 LJ with all the options. Deep maroon with gold pinstriping. Padded landau roof, deep pile carpeting, high back velour buckets, corner lights, 400 and 400 turbo, factory duel exhaust and posi rear end. $5,100. Drove it for 17 years. Rusted away on me. I still miss it. Now I'm driving an 05 GP GT that never goes out in the winter. Thanks for the video.

It was the radial tuned suspension model if that means anything. I drove it till 2006, and I mean drove it, as it was my only car, then I sold it for 500 bucks and it still ran good. I'm Mopar. It's in my DNA. My grandfather built the engines for the local circle track boys. My first vehicles were all Mopar. Then I met a 5' 10 " auburn haired Playboy # 11 beauty with a 67 California 326 blue Firebird. I loathed GM, but the more I learned about Pontiac the more I felt a kindred spirit with my rebellious spirit. There's not enough left to tell the story of what I built for her here. It never entered a show that it didn't win. I'm torn to this day between my Mopar and Poncho beginnings. You sir have a fan for life. Back in the 80s you couldn't say an engine code that I didn't know where it came from. Funny how I have to watch Uncle Tony to see what I don't know about Mopar.
