As a child my father worked on a farm consisting of all IH tractors. 450, 560, 806, and 1206. Dad always said that if you bought an International with a diesel engine and it did not smoke while working you might as well junk it! If it was a smoker you had a good tractor. Thanks for the vids Visconvee, you have brought back some great childhood memories!

Had a dairy farmer who had 2 806's.each ran 10k and 11k before the cams broke right behind the gear.timing gears and front cam brg worn big time.A JD mechanic told me the two best tractors made were the 806 and the 4020

One of the best models of the 806. It has the RD fuel pump..and because of it, it will smoke like crazy. My dad had one of the first 806 built...all of the neighbors came the first day he was plowing since they thought he was going to blow the motor when plowing in hard gumbo soil. The magnificient whine from the rear end. Great video ciip! I was raised on my Dad's 806 from age 13 (new tractor) to age 56! and it is still running! Between this and the M...best IH buiilt!!!

@brian93ist No, when you plant a soy bean crop. The beans need to be packed. This is because soy beans grow with very low to the ground pod. Yes soy beans can be tall, but packing the beans helps you get more bean pods when harvesting. When you clip the beans using a flex head. Packing the beans help soil ridges from seeding and stones from getting in the conbine. Packing a crop on dry years can also help hold moisture in the ground, so seeds can properly germinate.

My Grandma never got rid of my Granddad's old (1966?) 806 diesel. I'm thinking about restoring it once i get the money and maybe making a farm stock out of it, not sure. Its got all kinds of hydraulic issues since it has sit for 10 years. Back in '86, my dad had her dynoed at over 120 hp, all stock, and the torque was even more massive. Between the 806 and an old 966 w/ more "stock" hp, it would pull the larger cultivator. Those dry-sleeve pistons had SOO much more torque.

I grew up on a farm, we had a 706 and a 806 Farmall. The 806 was a great tractor in it's time. Then the 856 replaced it.

Yes the 806 series sure did. The 806 gas had a very nice smoth sound. The 806 gas had the inline 6 engine aswell. There were even some 806's that could be converted or ran on propane!

Lots of power aswell for a old tractor. It smokes like that and is still very good on fuel. To bad the modern tractors weren't the same!

I must also tell you that the Farmall 806 that I'm driving was built in 1969. It was bought new and only one owner. The engine has over 15,000 hrs on it. The engine also has never been touched. It still starts very well and has good compression. Diesels are designed to work and really in the vid shes not working that hard. Diesel 806's are well knowen for smoking.

What size tires are you running on the front and rear? Looking to restore an 806 and like what you have.
@Vicsonvee14 жыл бұрын
@superturbodiesel The injection pump has never been turned up. We have had to put a remin pump on it. The old pump had issues with the gov. The gov problem was causing the engine to rev up and down on its own. This is the only problem we have really ever had with the engine.

@youthunter thats not why that 806 is smoking. That was the way they were factory. I've run 4 different 806s and a 1206 and they all just smoked. Alot of the time they have the fuel pumped turned up good to.

I've only ever heard one run, they sound like a 706 on steroids. I've been told IH didn't make very many 806 gas burners, and they are pretty rare now. There's one sitting dead about 20 miles into New Jersey from me. The old farmer who has it said it was quite the runner in it's day, but was an awful gas hog. I think if you've found one, jump on it and don't let it go!
@quic4611 жыл бұрын
It may be a light load but it's in high third TA forward. That's loading it pretty good. And diesels don't smoke when they burn the fuel. The smoke is UNBURNT fuel. Lots of bad information in all the comments from a lot of wanna be know it alls.

It smokes because it is a naturally aspirated diesel. A turbo charged diesel would not smoke nearly as much. A newer model like a 66 series barely smoked at all in stock form. That was the DT series engine that is still used today in mid-range trucks. Great engines. And don't kid yourselves, there are plenty of all makes of tractors from the 50's, 60's and 70's out there earning their keep in the fields. Why slam a particular color.
