Learn how to crochet a granny square blanket from start to finish using the farmhouse granny square. This is an upper beginning level tutorial designed for someone with at least some experience in crochet. Previous knowledge of the basic stitches (chain, single, and double) will be necessary to follow along.

Excellent pattern and explanation video of the farmhouse granny!! Thank you for explaining which stitches to DC into and for starting in a corner, not having to travel DC's up a side is a huge plus!!

The puff stitches in the round/magic circle are hard because I hold my hand and hook much differently; I’ve actually never seen anybody crochet in a magic circle like this before. It’d be helpful for you to explain how you keep the tension so loose to get those stitches nice and high. And, you go way too fast for that part; and no written pattern to fall back on! 😵‍💫. I had to combine 3 other videos to make my square work. 😅 That being said, the verbiage you gave was excellent-you really showed where the DC’s go & explained the increases well. And I never thought to throw my stuff in the washer to block-I was told to use squirt bottles and the board. So thank you for that!

For anybody struggling with this~ don’t do the magic circle. Do your slipknot, then chain 5 and slip stitch into your first chain to create a circle. Chain 2 and then start your puff stitches into that. This crazy way she started this square, was very hard to watch; very confusing for a beginner. The puff stitch is difficult, even for experienced crocheters, so don’t let the magic circle, here, discourage you. I use the magic circle all the time but I can’t use it for this granny. 🤷‍♀️
