Lady Luck is well and truly on my side when my first ever visit to The Carp Society's Farriers Lake results in its biggest resident Scar at 48lb 15oz. The stunning Gloucestershire venue is home to some colossal carp. I'm only at the lake for an overnight trip so I'm pretty much going in blind. I run through the tactics I use on my first visit, bait and rig choice, and I also catch a lovely 30-pound common within an hour of arriving. Totally agree with you I have been carp fishing for over 50 years and I have always kept my rigs as simple as possible and have done very well over the years. It seems to me some of the well established carp anglers try to come up with the next "best rig" as a way of one up man ship,glad your not one of them ! Keep up the honesty within your videos as it's a breath of fresh air.

Wow, just awesome Simon, well done! Just want to point out if I may, lol. Brilliant that you didn't hold the fish up for longer than necessary and then go on talking about rig, the bite, the fight etc etc at the same time, it was up, pics and returned back safely unlike,..... What a UNIT...it does not even look that big because it is so compact, perfect common for me. I like the kind words you put out before the footage. Sometimes we try to hard is what i think. We try harder and harder and exhaust ourselves for the next quick overnighter in bad weather. But hey you can do great in 6h without even try hard. Amazing story yet again mate.

Sumet similar happened 2 me a couple of week ago.3 hours at a new lake n a new pb 32.3 lber. 30 club brill only bin fishing4 years.all up north aswel.happy days
