Fashion Island Newport Beach murder suspect was out on probation at time of crime

The three men charged with the murder of a tourist during a robbery at Fashion Island in Newport Beach were in court Wednesday. One of the suspects, Leroyernest Joseph McCrary, was out on probation for armed robbery in Santa Monica at the time of the robbery.

Gascon should be fired and disbarred for malfeasance. You don't give probation for a violent crime. When the suspect got arrested, he violated the terms of his probation. You are not allowed to have a firearm. You don't associate yourself with other exconvicts. The probation officer will make unannounced visits to your workplace or house. He or she will ask you to pee in a jar. That is to make sure you are not doing drugs. If you do, they will arrest and take them to the main lockup.

I haven't lived there for almost 20 years, but I don't remember Fashion Island being a place you had to worry about being_robbed_and_murdered. Then again, when I lived in L.A. country, I don't remember_armed_robbers only spending 5 days in_jail either.

He should have been locked up. You don't give probation for a violent crime. You send him to state prison. His criminal record is as thick as an automotive service manual. His mommy had to tell her employer that junior here stole something, got arrested, and is in juvenile hall. She has go to attend the hearing and deal with case workers, probation officers and other staff. Now he is a liability.

I'll never understand why people are compelled to commit these crimes. Before I was a teenager I wanted a job, make honest money. It just seemed so much easier than being a menace to society. You get a job, do your work, collect a check and fund your life. These people really wake up motivated to commit crimes and deal with law enforcement?
