When I was contacted by a subscriber and asked if I’d be interested in taking on a new project car, a car that was very special to their family, I was not sure. I’d just bought the Rover 600Ti, but when they told me the story and what the car was… I had to have it!
So, in this video, I buy, collect and tell you all about my latest fast Ford project… it’s a Mondeo, and it’s a very special one!

Yes, a solid purchase. Or at least it will be... Getting a bit of a soft-spot for the half-leather seats. I think the practicality is finally sinking-in! I'd really like to see the whole process including things like parts availability and cost (?), without revealing any trade-secrets naturally. I know the family will love the end-result and maybe also like following along?

Very happy to see you have bought one of these, mega soft spot for the ST200 owned my current one which is my third since 2016, I was fortunate to find a rot free example with 40k on it, in my small collection of Fords it is my favourite car and that is even compared to my mk2 Focus RS, looking forward to seeing you restore this beauty, well worth it!

I got offered a MK3 ST220 at the petrol station the other day. I was at the pump adjacent and got talking to the owner, a 75 year old lady!! She said it was for sale but “might” not pass the next MOT😂 I had to force myself to walk away as I’ve got another couple of cars needing attention.

Hi Andy a brilliant video as ever and so happy to hear you have saved this beautiful car and will be fantastic when complete it looks great in imperial blue and will complement your focus RS perfectly They are wonderful cars and drive really well would love one! Great to see you not far from us that car has not strayed far from Walsall its whole life I noticed reg vardy ford as the dealer that was in pleck road in Walsall! Remember it so well You have some amazing cars and it will be great when done to compare with the cossie all The best Daniel

I love your enthusiasm for saving cars that are special to you. This car look a little rusty underneath and the wind deflectors would have had me running to the hills but I reckon your body shop will work wonders on it.

Thanks for the comment. Not sure it is enthusiasm or madness, but I could not say no to this ST200! The wind deflectors are easy to remove and MK Bodyshop will sort the underside of the car... I am certain it'll throw up more issues as the restoration starts but I'll feature it all here on the Channel. Thanks for watching.

I grew up with Fords and still own a mk1 Sierra but the mk4 Mondeo era was when I lost interest in ford so I'm glad you dropped that off but that ST200 is lovely with a great story and deserves the love you're going to give it. i wish you the best of luck restoring her I'll be watching and i hope the family see the end result

Thanks for the comment and well done on owning your Mk1 Sierra (I love them!). As for the Mondeo, whilst I do like the Mk4 I also know what you mean. I am glad to be back in a Mk2 Mondeo and I just couldn't say no to this ST200. Thanks for following the car and I remain in touch with the family who want to see it when finished.

Hi Andy, the ST200 really is a very good car with a bullet proof reliable engine, until recently we had a ST200 Estate and it was beautiful. But unfortunately we are having something of a cull at the moment of some of our cars in order to make way for new stock! I think the next one we are selling is our mk4 RS Turbo Escourt that we have had from new with low mileage and ultra low mileage. Its one im really torn on letting go...

I used to sell new fords many years ago and one of my favourites was the ST24 so when the ST200 came out I loved it! I remember one of my customers trading in his ST24 for one of these, it also had the half leather seats. Keep up the good work, always love watching your videos!

Brilliant purchase and that shape Mondeo was fantastic. Shame the dreaded tin worm enjoyed them so much. I had a 1.8 X reg Mondeo and it was a comfy cruiser.

@@cornishcarcollectors the ST200 is the greatest Mondeo ever made except for the Touring Car version. Ford should've made a Cosworth Mondeo or Mondeo RS Turbo but insurance premiums halted those models

I share updates when I have them; I take my time with my cars, juggling it with my family and work commitments. I am not a KZfaqr who runs my Channel as a business, I make videos because I enjoy sharing my car collection and car antics with anyone who wants to watch. Restoring my cars costs me a fair bit of money, so progress is down to my time and available funds... and the weather! Hope you stay tuned and thanks for your patience.
